Last Minute

It’s all quiet at the hospital; three young boys can be seen in the cafeteria. None of them are speaking; they are all being very focused on their own reflection in their coke.

Outside is it raining; the weather really fitted their mood very well.

The three young boys used to be five in their group; but now are two of their closest friends lying on one bed at the hospital each. Both are fighting to live, both were hit by a car, both might die.

“Oh, Okay. Yes, we’ll be there” Jonghyun said in the phone back in their dorm before he puts back his phone in the pocket.

Aron walks over to Jonghyun and places his hand on the younger males shoulder. “What is it?”

“It was manager-hyung. They will have to give Minki a surgery, its fifty percent chance for him to survive. Manager-hyung wanted us to be there” Jonghyun explained with a loud sigh.

Aron felt his heart stop beating for a few seconds; he gazes over at Minhyun’s room. Minhyun hadn’t been sleeping for a long time, but he was now, and Aron didn’t have the heart to wake him up to this kind of news.

“We’ll go there” Aron took his jacket and nodded at Dongho to come with them.

“But what about Minhyun?” Jonghyun carefully asked.

Aron opens the door to their dorm. “Let him sleep for a while, he needs to get some rest”

Then all three Nu’Est-members left the dorm.

Two hours later, when Minhyun was awake, Aron called and told Minhyun to come to the hospital.

Thirty minutes after Aron’s call, they saw Minhyun being carried into an emergency-room at the hospital. Knowing that he also had been in an accident.

“If I hadn’t insisted in giving Minhyun some more sleep, none of this would’ve happened” Aron blamed himself.

Jonghyun shook his head. “You’re not a fortune-teller, this is a simple mistake and you did it because you care of Minhyun”

“We shouldn’t blame each other, or ourselves. It’s no one’s fault. Both drivers were shocked as well, they are getting mental treatment. For the shock they got” Dongho, who probably was in the best mental state of the three members, explained to the other three.

Aron looked away; his eyes were blood-shot and glassy at the same time. He couldn’t say anything to them.

If he only could turn back time to the previous day. If he could’ve been the person running with Minhyun, would they have been able to stop Minki from jumping in front of that car together?

Aron let his emotions take over for a minute; he didn’t know what he did or why he did it. But he stood up and let his hand fly over the table and hit his glass of coke.

It flew onto the floor and was being crashed into a thousand of pieces. The dark brown liquid was also being spread out on the floor.

Aron sat down again on the chair, shocked by his own actions. “Sorry…”

Dongho lightly pattered his hyung on the back. “We know that you’re frustrated and it’s okay”

“It’s okay” Jonghyun repeated.

Aron couldn’t hold his emotions inside him any longer. Hell with all the manliness. Aron began to cry out all loudly, and it felt really good.
