Chapter Twenty-Five
Crossing PathsShe finally found him.
Myungsoo was right. She didn’t always feel good. In fact, she felt worse than she had ever felt in her entire life. She felt tired, and could barely walk. Mrs. Lee couldn’t see clearly and her sentences didn’t make sense. Even Sunggyu had difficulty keeping up with what she was saying. And it scared Sunggyu. Everything scared Sunggyu at this point.
“Why is she so tired?” Sunggyu asked—in a very demanding tone.
“We’re going to perform tests now. When her results come out, we will let you know right away,” The doctor told him.
Sunggyu sighed, not happy with the answer. But he understood that tests needed to be done to reach conclusions. What those conclusions were was all Sunggyu could think about, though. He found himself googling symptoms, asking other doctors what they thought, and he even started asking other patients about their symptoms to see whether or not they were similar to his Grandmother’s. Sunggyu was becoming a frantic mess.

“Hyung,” Myungsoo said as he came up to his older brother who was scrolling through his phone while sitting on the terrace of the hospital.
Sunggyu didn’t look up. Instead, he kept scrolling through his phone. Myungsoo set the coffee he bought on the table in front of Sunggyu, but he still didn’t notice the presence of someone else. Myungsoo could only shake his head and take a seat on an empty chair.
Twenty minutes passed, and Sunggyu still hadn’t touched his coffee. He hadn’t said anything to Myungsoo, nor did he look up from his phone. It wasn’t until the phone shut off due to low battery, that Sunggyu finally tore his gaze away from the screen.
“When did you get here?” Sunggyu asked, eyebrows furrowed.
Myungsoo sighed, “I’ve been here for twenty minutes, Hyung.”
“Oh,” Sunggyu said.
“Your coffee is cold,” Myungsoo flatly said.
“Oh.”
Myungsoo sighed again, “The doctor said the results should be out shortly. I just spoke to him.”
Sunggyu nodded his head and stared out into space. This irked Myungsoo who was clearly trying to have a conversation with his older brother. So, being the stubborn one, he just stood up and walked away without saying anything.
Sunggyu barely noticed, and instead went back to his Grandmother. She was eating lunch at the time so Sunggyu decided to help her.
“You should have told me you were hungry,” Sunggyu said while getting a spoonful of soup ready.
“I’m not hungry, though. The doctors are forcing me to eat,” Mrs. Lee made a distasteful face.
Sunggyu smiled, “Good.”
“You should eat as well. Did you have a good breakfast?”
“Grandma, breakfast isn’t a good meal.”
Mrs. Lee hit Sunggyu on the head lightly, “I told you to never skip breakfast! It’s the most important meal of the day.”
Sunggyu held his head and whined, “Grandma that hurt!”
“Good,” Mrs. Lee had a satisfied smile on her face.
Sunggyu just laughed and gave his grandmother another bite of her sandwich. He loved spending moments like these with her. He loved when she would laugh at his stupid jokes or when she would laugh at the fights he had with Myungsoo. There was nobody in his life like his grandmother, and that just made her even more special.

Da Eun stared at the letter that had been left in front of the practise room for her. She furrowed her eyebrows at the closed envelope that was read to be torn open. It was a surprise when she found the white envelop neatly placed in between the cracks of the door. It was an even bigger surprise when Da Eun found out who sent the letter.
Ji Eun
“I don’t want to read this,” Da Eun said to nobody. “But I also really do.”
Da Eun sighed and reached for her phone, “You still haven’t replied.”

“Code Blue room 219,” The lady on the intercom said.
Sunggyu, who was falling sleep, immediately became alert. He immediately sat up and looked around for Myungsoo. When he made eye contact with his brother, he saw that Myungsoo’s eyes were widened and he was sitting up as well. Both knew that the lady had called code blue for the room their grandmother was in. The two got up and ran to their grandmother’s hospital room. But they couldn’t enter. They couldn’t enter because there were about 5 doctors and nurses blocking their entrance.
“Grandma,” Myungsoo breathed out.
“What’s going on?” Sunggyu managed to choke out.
