Crossing PathsI'm the worst, aren't I? I really need to get myself together and write more often. I'll definately try!
Have a great day/night! don't forget to comment :)
All she wanted was to be loved for being herself.
It was raining, she thought. Then a second later she corrected herself. It was pouring outside. With the constant pitter patter against her window, Da Eun felt comfortable. As a child, Da Eun hated the rain. The rain meant that she couldn’t go outside to play with her friends or visit the park. It meant that she would have to wear a rain jacket or lag an umbrella around. That only prevented her from being free to run around as she wished.
But now, she learned to love the rain more and more. The rain kept everybody indoors. That meant there would be no trace of humans outside. No trace of life in people and no happiness and joy that Da Eun didn’t have.
“The clouds are crying,” Da Eun whispered to herself. “You’re not alone. The clouds are crying with you.”
Da Eun slid her hand down the bar of the small window above the couch. She was sitting on the backrest with her head leaning against the wall. It was dark in the room and she hadn’t bothered to turn on any lights. Her eyes would follow the rain drops as they slid down the window every now and then.
Da Eun was about to fall asleep but her phone rang. Alarmed, she almost fell off the couch. She walked over to her bag and took out the device she hadn’t used in days. She stared at the name that appeared on her screen; Jieun.
With a deep breath and shaking hands, she slid her finger across the screen to accept the call.
“Da Eun, I’ve finally been able to get in contact with you! It’s been so long since we’ve spoken to each other,”
“It has,” Da Eun replied.
“Where have you been? I came by your house yesterday but you weren’t home.”
Da Eun froze. She didn’t want to let anyone know that she spent most of her time at the practise room nor did she want to say she still stayed at home.
“I was out for a bit, I guess.”
“Oh, well I was hoping we could have played in your game room. Oh well,” Jieun dismissed the entire situation.
“Why are you calling?”
“I missed you silly,” Jieun laughed.
Da Eun thought back to her friends who ignored her earlier that day. She assumed Jieun would stop talking to her as well. Her position dropped and so did the many privileges which came with that. Most importantly, her status in the school had changed for the worst. Knowing how ruthless the world was, Da Eun assumed they would all leave her in a heartbeat.
“Are you joking?” Da Eun chuckled bitterly.
“No,” Jieun answered. “Let’s meet up.”
“Fine,” Da Eun breathed out. “I’ll meet you at the restaurant we ate at for my birthday.”
Da Eun grabbed her bag and ran out of the practise room and to her home. She quickly took a shower but didn’t bother washing her hair. Knowing it was somewhat dirty, she tied it up neatly. She grabbed a pair of black jeans and a peach blouse to wear. After tossing on a pair of flats, Da Eun hurried to grab her car keys and left the house.
She felt very restless. She was excited to be able to see Jieun again. Maybe she had jumped to conclusions about all her friends wanting to leave her. Maybe she had jumped to conclusions about her life being ruined due to the new position she attained.
Maybe.
When Da Eun reached the restaurant, it was evening which meant most people would be eating dinner. She walked to the table she sat at last time and took her phone out. She was about to call Jieun when she heard her name. Da Eun looked up to see Jieun waving her hands and approaching her table.
“What do you want to eat?” Jieun asked as she looked through the menu.
“Anything’s fine,” Da Eun said plainly.
“Wel
