Chapter Twenty-Two
Crossing PathsThe fact that you all are still subscribed to this story is amazing. If any of you read my previous story before I completed it, you would know I usually updated at least twice a week. With this story, I barely manage to update once a week. I'm truly sorry for the lack of updates. Everything is just a little fuzzy right now. I make no sense, I know. I'll try to sort things out quickly but school is back and that just means less time. Thank you for not leaving this story! Do tell me what you think of it, please!
The practise room became her safe haven.
Da Eun paced back and forth. She bit on her lip and twirled her fingers over and over again. Da Eun stopped walking and thought for a bit. She then shook her head and began walking around again. She continued to do that for half an hour before she finally grew dizzy and sat down on the couch of the practise room.
“It couldn’t be her,” Da Eun told herself. “Jieun wouldn’t do that to me, would she?”
After Da Eun read through the contract thoroughly, she put it back on her Mother’s dresser and ran out of the house. She went straight to the practise room without a second thought. She wanted to let the warmth of the underground room engulf her and the sense of security protect her.
She knew. She knew that Jieun betrayed her. Da Eun knew very well that Jieun only wanted to be her friend to get close to her mother. Da Eun knew but she didn’t want to believe it. Because it was Jieun who reminded Da Eun that she was worth more than what her parents said.
“But why?” The lost breathed out.

“Grandma, we need to go to the doctor,” Sunggyu sternly said.
“I’m much better now, though. I no longer have a headache. There’s nothing to worry about,” Mrs. Kim said as she turned her attention back to the TV.
“Grandma, please just listen to us this time,” Myungsoo said as he sat next to her. “We should really go visit the doctor.”
“Alright, we’ll go next week,” Mrs. Kim said, knowing that her grandsons weren’t going to give up anytime soon.
“I’m booking an appointment now,” Sunggyu said as he grabbed the phone and walked into his room.
After Sunggyu booked the doctor’s appointment, he called his boss and apologized for not coming to work that day. His boss understood and told Sunggyu to take good care of his grandmother. Sunggyu said he definitely would. Afterwards, he looked through his text messages.
Sunggyu didn’t have a large group of friends. He had a couple of friends from all his jobs; the closest being Woohyun. But he did have a couple of texts. Most of them were from Da Eun. The two hadn’t got a chance to talk in a while. There were no soccer games being held at the moment so they wouldn’t meet at the field. Sunggyu would be busy running from one job to another so they didn’t meet anywhere else either.
Sunggyu didn’t know why, but he missed Da Eun. Her presence made the day a bit livelier. That was ironic, though, considering how she previously acted as if she lived under a raining cloud. But Da Eun changed—and in a matter of days which surprised Sunggyu. But he couldn’t complain. He liked the new Da Eun.
There was one text Sunggyu received from Hoya. The two hadn’t met in nearly a month which was quite different form their daily meetings during the school year. Hoya stopped going to the practise room once he found out that Da Eun was renting it. Since the two didn’t meet at the practise room, they didn’t meet anywhere. But Sunggyu missed him, so he decided to call his long lost friend.
“It’s been so long since I’ve heard your voice, Hyung!” Hoya cried.
“I could say the same. How have you been?”
“I’ve been great. How about you, Hyung? Are you still working like crazy?”
