Customers came in and we immediately went to our respective duties. Mrs. Byun accompanied me to the small office beside the kitchen and taught me office works a manager should do. There’s a table, chair, computer, printer and files. It’s quite tiny but I think I could handle it.

After the instructions, Mrs. Byun made her way to the door. “You don’t have to hole up here the whole day,” she said.

She must be reading my mind because I was thinking that if I’ll be here in my entire stay, I’ll be jaded.

“You could supervise others and interact to the customers.”

I smiled. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

Just before lunch, I finished my office work so I went out of my station.

I saw a beeline to the cashier. Goodness gracious, there were many customers. Jiyoon was busy taking customers’ orders. Bomi was bringing foods table per table. Mrs. Byun was helping her. I peek on the kitchen and saw how busy the two guys are. I notice a similar fixation in all of them. They are smiling. Even in this hectic situation, their lips are curled up.

“People smile when they love what they are doing.”

I remember Junhyung, my ex-boyfriend, say that when we were in the park and I noted how everyone there are smiling.

I brush off the memory and strode to the kitchen.
