In Geraldine McCaughrean's "Peter Pan In Scarlet," it was said that Peter turned into Captain Hook's young alter-ego without him knowing it. In the novel, the Lost Boys went with the Darling children back to London, and Michael died years later, which explained why it was only John and Wendy that had remained. It was also said that a year after Wendy, John, Michael, and the Lost Boys left Neverland, Tinkerbell died, and Peter Pan lost all memories of her. The main fairy in the novel, Fireflyer, helped Wendy, John, and the Lost Boys, now the Old Boys, and his wish resurrected Tinkerbell. He and Tinkerbell eventually married at the end of the novel.

In this adaptation, the part which I will make a story of is only about Peter losing all memories of Tinkerbell... Just that part.

But what if Peter falls in love with Wendy? What happens when Peter no longer remember anything about his best fairy friend, Tinkerbell?

Yong Hwa lost his memories.

It was a devastating moment for the Jung couple because their son could not even remember them. In order for their son to recuperate, Mdm. Jung bought her half-brother's house and kicked him out, especially when she knew that Kang Joh tried to sabotage his nephew's efforts to take the CSAT. The couple believed that a familiar environment might help him remember. And because of that, Jong Hyun and Min Hyuk had to get back to the mansion, while Jung Shin could not stay because he lived in Ansan City already. Seohyun lived with her parents still, but Seung Ho pleaded to his parents that they let him live again in the Jung mansion. To this, they consented.

A year had passed.

Seung Ho, who was already in his second year in university, was busy t the bonsai in the patio when Yong Hwa arrived from the hospital after his session. He smiled at his hyung, who smiled back at him before going inside the house. Seung Ho felt relief that his hyung recognized the people around him. By now, Mdm. Jung had only her son's friends as boarders in the house, as the others transferred as she took ownership. It was better that way, she told them, so that Yong Hwa's mind will not be overwhelmed with too much information.

"I understand Mdm. Jung doing it," Seung Ho thought. "Yet, I cannot believe what Jong Hyun-hyung and Min Hyuk-hyung did! Why did they not tell Hyung about Shin Hye-noona? Are they too cruel as to withdraw that information?"

He knew that Jong Hyun and Min Hyuk often talked about Shin Hye but behind Yong Hwa's back. They just let on for a year, and never did they confide to him about it. They even requested Mdm. Jung and Mr. Jung not to tell Yong Hwa about her, and to take out evidences of their friendship. The Jung couple found it odd because Yong Hwa and Shin Hye had been best friends, but they thought it was the best. Yong Hwa might be confused about knowing someone whom he can no longer remember.

"If they introduce her to him in her absence, they can just show him her picture," Seung Ho rationalized to himself. "Why are they even doing it? Aish!!!!!"

Seung Ho got frustrated as he pruned the bonsai. He knew that Jong Hyun and Min Hyuk were intelligent ones, but it seems that these guys are too stupid on the street knowledge arena, or are just too loyal to Yong Hwa to even protect his feelings. And he cannot understand how the mind of these two worked.

"It's just plain and simple. If they had just introduced Yong-hyung to Shin Hye-noona, they can, and if he asks, they can just answer his question. Can it be any harder?" Seung Ho thought in exasperation. "I know the situation is really bad, but why make it too complicated? Aigoo...."

Even he cannot even tell Yong Hwa about Shin Hye because everybody, Seohyun included, was forbidding him. He knew that Yong Hwa started to hang out at the flower shop and flirt with Seohyun, but Seung Ho honestly preferred Shin Hye for Yong Hwa. Not that he was being a traitor to his own cousin. Seung Ho just preferred another guy from Seohyun's childhood, Cho Kyuhyun.

Min Hyuk was answering some e-mails when he received an e-mail from Shin Hye. He was so startled that he called Jong Hyun to come over to his room for an emergency. As Jong Hyun came in, he saw that Min Hyuk was holding his phone, calling Jung Shin.

"Mwoya?" Jong Hyun asked as he scratched his neck.

"Hyung, you won't believe this," Min Hyuk told Jong Hyun while Jung Shin was on the other line. Hyukkie had the phone in loudspeaker so the three of them can talk.

"What is it about?" Jung Shin asked.

"Shin Hye-noona is coming back to town!" Hyukkie announced.

Jong Hyun pushed Hyukkie from the chair and read the e-mail. No doubt, Shin Hye was really coming back to Korea from Hong Kong. How could they break the news that Yong Hwa had amnesia and that they had not revealed to the two of them the truth behind Yong Hwa's accident? Shin Hye never knew.

"Seung Ho had been bugging me why we hid the information from Yong-hyung," Hyukkie said.

"Aish, he should wait," Jong Hyun said to them. "I want Yong Hwa to know about Shin Hye, but he will keep on asking us... and we can show him her picture. But what if we cannot give him his request of bringing Shin Hye here?"

"It's getting too complicated," Hyukkie said.

"I think it is our fault for even hiding from her that Hyung met an accident," Jung Shin said from the other line.

"I started to regret it," Jong Hyun said. "Maybe Seung Ho had been right all along."

"And Hyung will get confused," Hyukkie said. "He started to feel for Seohyun-noona."

"Aish...." Jong Hyun cursed. Being the eldest of them three, he knew he had to take responsibility. "I will correspond with Shin Hye."

He told Min Hyuk and Jung Shin to wait for developments.

Jong Hyun and Shin Hye had an exchange of chat when Shin Hye logged in that afternoon.

JH: Hi Shin Hye-ya, Hyukkie said you'll be coming home.

SH: Ne, so excited. I miss Yong Hwa and you all guys.

JH: When will you be here?

SH: Three weeks from now.

Jong Hyun could see ever since that Shin Hye had a thing for her bestfriend. It was nothing that she can deny if ever he confronted her.

JH: Uhm, I have something to tell you by the time you get back here.

SH: Jinjja? Why so serious Jong Hyun-ah? Are you going to confess to me?

Jong Hyun blushed and knitted his eyebrows. How could she say that? He only had his eyes for one girl in school, and definitely, it was never and never will be Shin Hye.

JH: Ani.... But can you see me first when you get home?

SH: Jong Hyun-ah, you are starting to freak me out... What's going on? Did something happen? You like me, but you just won't admit it.

JH: Aniya!!! Tsh, it's not about me.

SH: Ahahaha, I thought you like me.

Jong Hyun thought if he could just bust her with the knowledge that he knew that she liked Yong Hwa a lot.

JH: It's not about me. It's about you...and Yong Hwa-hyung.

Shin Hye, from the other line, knitted her eyebrows. What about Yong Hwa?

SH: Yong Hwa? Wae?

Jong Hyun bit his lips. He hated to break the year-old news, but he had to.

JH: I'm sorry for lying.

SH: Eh? I don't understand.

Jong Hyun started to regret his decision. He should have considered Seung Ho's proposal. But then, looking back, he knew it was for the best.

With Yong Hwa's erratic memory loss, he remembered and forget things taught to him in minutes, hours, or even days. His memory began to stabilize a bit within five months, the time when he did not forget the name of his parents. It hurt Jong Hyun, who considered himself Yong Hwa's best guy friend, that the patient remembered him last among all the other people in the house. Yong began to remember Jung Shin and Seung Ho together seven months after the accident, then Seohyun, then Min Hyuk. The other cousins and relatives, ten months after. But it took Yong the whole twelve months to remember Jong Hyun, and it hurt him a lot.

If Yong Hwa remembered Jong Hyun after a year, what chances will there be that he will remember Shin Hye easily, or not remember her at all?

It was a now-or-never thing for Jong Hyun, so he told her that what he will say will hurt her, but she had to try to understand. His fingers trembled as he typed his message, and it took longer for Shin Hye to receive them.

But as expected, Shin Hye was extremely shocked and hurt at the news that Yong Hwa got into an accident a year ago, but what enraged her the most was the fact that they hid it from her. She lashed out on Jong Hyun, who humbly accepted her anger. As he continued to type, his eyes were filled with tears, and he found it odd because he was not the type to cry. Shin Hye, from the other line, read and re-read the message, hoping all will sink in. She was bombarded with too much information, overwhelmed at the emotions starting to flow. When Jong Hyun explained that he was the last person Yong Hwa remembered, Shin Hye understood why Jong Hyun had to do this.

JH: I'm afraid that even if we show him your pictures, he might remember you for minutes, then forget you afterwards. It might be best that you interact with him face to face.

Shin Hye saw through Jong Hyun's point of view, and though she was angry at him, she began to understand. She would not do the same if she were in his place, but she understood his difficulty. Being intelligent is one thing, but being rational in times of emotion is another, and it is hard.

SH: Thanks for filling me in, Jong Hyun-ah. I shall come and see Yong Hwa in person.

JH: I think it is best for you to go back here and pretend to be a new boarder, and introduce yourself to Hyung like it is the first time. I'm going to ask Sir and Mdm. Jung about it if it will be all right with them.

SH: Gomawo.

JH: With that, you can slowly reintegrate your life in him...and who knows, he might remember all the things both of you have been through.

Sh: It must be hard on your end, Jong Hyun-ah.

JH: You bet, Shin Hye-ya. Hyung started to remember many of us, but not the memories associated with us. We still have to fill him in with the details. He could not even remember the prank he played on Min Hyuk during his birthday, and it was Jung Shin sharing to him about it.

Shin Hye's eyes were left wet after the chat. It will take a mountain to climb in order to introduce herself to Yong Hwa, and most especially...to bring their memories back.

But who knows, a miracle might happen...

And an object just might make him remember her in an instant.
