The Spying Commenses...

Rise of the Weirdos

(A/N Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 have been combined into this chapter, so for those of you who have already read Chapter 7 [this chapter] please read it again because we added chapter 8 into the ending since it was too short. Thank you and enjoy! :D)

The Spying Commenses...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So..." Nana stirred her coffee with a spoon. "What did you want to discuss again?"

Kai rolled his eyes, annoyed. "The power of twelve in one, duh."

"Oh yeah. That." Nana couldn't help but chuckle to herself. "The 'non-existant power source'."

"YAH. I'm telling you; it's real."

"And I don't suppose you have any proof?"

"I just know. I can feel it."

Nana stopped stirring her coffee for a second and burst into a fit of laughter.

"Y-You can... feel it?!" She laughed herself out of breath.

"Yeah..." Kai looked at her seriously. "And I also had a dream while I was in America. Well, it was more like a vision telling me that I needed to come back to Korea to look for these twelve different sources of energy. All I could think about and relate the vision to was that ancient legend about the power of twelve in one. And then when I came back here from America, I just got this really strong feeling that my senses were picking up, like they knew that I was close. So that means that the power of twelve in one is real and in the area."

Nana paused her laughing to listen to Kai with sudden interest.

"What exactly happened in your vision?" She asked curiously.

"It's kinda hard to explain... but I think I was standing on the edge of the world..."

"How is that even possible? What does the edge of the world even look like?"

"Dark. And... powerful. I felt like I was the king of the world, standing on top of it like that... like nothing could stop me from doing anything I wanted. It was honestly the best feeling in the world."

"What about the power of twelve in one?"

"That's just it." Kai said. "I possessed the power of twelve in one at that moment. But then... I started falling. I kept on falling until I hit the ground somewhere and all of the powers flew out of my body. I saw each and every one of them floating in front of my face; water, fire, wind, earth, frost, light, lightning, healing, flying, time control, telekinesis, teleportation. All of them just flew out of me and I lost them."

"Ouch." Nana commented. "Sounds like a pretty weird drea-"

"Welcome to the Exotic Café!" The waitress that had "served" you before bounded over to Nana's table happyily, acting like a completely different person. She was paying no attention to Nana's presence whatsoever. Her cute, little greeting seemed like it was directed only to Kai. She was smiling like a maniac and actually looked like she was enjoying her job.

Or at least, the clientele.

"How may I help you?" She asked Kai with bright eyes.

"Oh, I'll just have the-"

"Thanks, but we already ordered." Nana smiled sweetly at the waitress.

The waitress continued to ignore your best friend as well as the two cups of coffee already on the table in front of her. Kai just smiled at her, oblivious to all of the extra attention.

"Yeah, we're fine thanks."

The waitress nodded her head still smiling like an idiot. "I'll just come back later if you can't decide."

"But we already said-"

The waitress her heels and rushed back into the kitchen before Nana could finish.

"Oh my gosh... can you believe that lady?" Nana mumbled under her breath angrily.

"What's wrong with her?" Kai asked obliviously.

Nana sighed. "Never mind. Just continue with your story."

"Oh right." Kai cleared his throat before starting again. "So yeah, all the powers flew out of my body, and I lost the power of twelve in one."

"Well, how do you know that the power is here?"

"Just a hunch." Kai shrugged. "I told you, I can feel it."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." Nana sipped her coffee. "Why do you need my help again?"

Kai chuckled. "Because who else would be better to ask than the one and only, all-knowing wizard, Im Jin Ah?"

WHAT?!?!?!

"Shut up, you moron! We're in public..."

"It's not like anyone cares what we're talking about anyway. Aish... always acting like we're being spied on..."

You couldn't think straight. Was what Kai had said about Nana being a "wizard" really true?

Impossible. That's just impossible.

"Besides," Nana continued, "What do you think I'm supposed to do? Somehow summon up all of the power and hand it to you? Just like that?"

"I don't know! I thought that you might have some idea of knowing how to get the power... Just do some of your bibbity bobbity boom spells-"

"It's not that easy, Jongin!" Nana burst out. She rubbed her temples in frustration. "There's a certain limit to my power, you know."

Kai sighed. You could tell that both were feeling hopeless at the moment. You almost felt sorry for them even though you were still clueless on what they were trying to do. The two remained silent for minutes before the waitress came bouncing back to their table.

"Have you decided ye-"

"WE SAID WE DON'T WANT ANYTHING ELSE OKAY?!?!?!" Nana slammed her hands on the table.

This time the waitress couldn't pretend not to hear her. Taking a few steps back, the waitress slowly retreated to the kitchen. You sighed to yourself. You had known that Nana was about to blow up since she was frustrated. You also knew better than to mess with her when she's like this.

Poor waitress.

Kai also looked surprised at her sudden outburst. He looked at Nana for a second before laughing to himself. "Feisty... Cute."

Nana rolled her eyes in annoyance, but you could tell that she felt better now that she had let off some steam.

"I need to ask you something..." Nana began slowly.

"Hm?"

"Well, if you did have the power of twelve in one... what would you be planning to do with all of that... power?"

Kai smirked. "Isn't it obvious? I'd rule the world."

"But doesn't that seem a little... immature?"

"How does ruling the world seem immature?"

"It's just... you're acting like all of this is some little kid's game. Life isn't a game, Jongin. In reality, we both know it's not possible to rule the entire world-"

"It is when you possess so much power. Just think of it as a 'dictatorship'."

"And what do the others think about this whole situation? How do you think they feel?"

Others?

"They don't know. I'm not going to tell them unless I need their help with finding it or if they're all willing to do as I say when I'm head in command."

"But you're not head in command. Kris is."

"I know that... which is why I'm not going to tell them."

"Jongin... this isn't something that you can just hide from them forever. If someone you trusted was going to take over the world and not tell you about it, how do you think you would feel?"

"First of all, I would try to find all of the power sources before he did and then I would kill him and take over the world myself."

"This conversation isn't getting anywhere..." Nana rubbed her temples for the umpth time that night.

"But it would be a whole lot easier if you just helped me. I'm sure Sehun would appreciate it too."

Nana's eyes were downcast. You always knew that Nana had a crush on Sehun, but did she really love him enough to do all of this for him? She didn't even know him that well. Or at least, that's what you thought.

A few more minutes passed by before Nana sighed once more and spoke softly.

"I have a spell."

"You do?" Kai looked up in excitement.

"I think... I've only used it a couple of times, and I'm not sure if it will work or not..."

"Sure it will! You just gotta try it, okay? What kind of spell is it?"

"Um... a tracking spell..." Nana bit her lip nervously.

"A tracking spell?!?! That's perfect!!" Kai nearly jumped out of his chair.

You could tell something was wrong though. Nana only bit her lip when she doubted herself; it was one of her nervous habits.

"Well? What are you waiting for? Do the spell already!" Kai urged impatiently. He looked like he had to pee with all of the bouncing he was doing.

"But... I'll need a scribe table. And the spell is really strong, so it drains my energy-"

"We have one at the mansion. You can do your spell there tonight."

"Tonight?" Nana looked over at him with worry in her eyes. "I can't..."

"And why not?"

"Heeyoung... she's waiting for me to get home. She'll be so worried if I'm not there in the morning."

Your eyes widened. Nana still cared about you. She was still the same old Nana even though she might have been able to do things beyond your imagination.

Kai scoffed. "That little human friend of yours? She's cute, I'll give you that but..." He thought for a moment and asked, "Wanna take her with us?"

"NO!!" Nana shouted at him. "There is no way on earth that I am taking my best friend to a werewolf-infested house."

Werewolves...?!?!

Kai shrugged before saying, "That's too bad. I bet she would have been fun."

You clenched your jaw. This guy was definitely something else.

"Whatever. I'll come over tomorrow to do the spell." Nana said.

When Kai started pulling some money out of his pocket to leave a tip, you realized that you needed to get out of there and make it home before Nana did. The two stood up and left the café with you following a safe distance behind.

~~~
Back at the dorm...
You planted yourself on the couch in front of the TV with the remote by your side with the lights off, trying to make it seem as if you had been waiting for your best friend all along. But you also couldn't help but feel upset that Nana didn't tell you her biggest and most important secret: She is a wizard. How could she not tell you something like that?
Well, I wouldn't have believed her anyway... but still! You thought. She should have told me...
You flipped through the channels lost in thought when you heard the front door quietly squeak open and the click click of high heels step into the dorm.
She's back.
When Nana came into the living room, she was tiptoeing, thinking you were asleep in bed. But you just put on your why didn't you tell me expression and stared at her figure in the dark. She didn't seem to notice you until she flipped on the lights.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Nana shrieked when she saw you sitting on the couch boring your eyes into her soul.
"So..." You started as Nana pressed her hand to her heaving chest in an attempt to control her heartbeat, "How was the photoshoot?"
You gave Nana the chance to confess and tell you the truth right then and there. Maybe she would tell you where she really went and why, even though you already knew the answer.
"Um..." She breathed, "It was good."
So she was still lying to you.
"I-I thought you were asleep already."
"Well it's not that late anyway... It's only 10:59. We don't even have school tomorrow."
"Oh, yeah..." Nana shifted nervously. You could tell that she felt uncomfortable.
She should. You thought. She needs to tell me the truth!
The two of you stayed silent for a while, you staring into Nana's soul as Nana avoided your gaze. Finally you decided that she wasn't going to tell you anything unless you questioned her further, so you tested your theory.
"Why didn't you tell me?" You asked her.
"W-What do you mean..."
"About you being a wizard."
Nana's eyes tripled in size and her jaw dropped to the floor. You actually felt a little worried for your best friend because it looked like she had a miniature heart attack right then and died standing up. If that was possible.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about, H-Heeyoung-ah..."
How dare she lie to your face like that?!
"Don't play dumb with me, Nana. Or would it ring any bells if I called you 'Im Jin Ah'?"
Nana gasped. Ha, got her.
"How do you even know any of this?!" She demanded.
Wait, she's gonna raise her voice at me?! I'm the one supposed to be getting mad at her!
"Like it matters!! You never told me anything about the other half of your life!! Do you know how that makes me feel, Nana? I don't even know you anymore... I thought you were the friend that I could lean on, that I could tell anything to, that I could share secrets with... But obviously, you don't feel the same way about our friendship. What kind of best friend are you?! I can't even trust you to tell me this other part about yourself which turns out to be really important if you ask me!!"
"But you wouldn't have understood! You're such a realist and you don't even believe in Santa Claus. So why on earth would you ever believe me if I told you that I was a wizard? You'd think I'm a weirdo and wouldn't want to be my friend... Or maybe even send me off to some kind of mental institution..."
"Aish... No I wouldn't! That's just retarded! You're my best friend. Sure, I'd be a little freaked out that you're a wizard, but no matter what you say to me, nothing will change our friendship."
You were shocked. How could Nana think that telling you about her powers would make you feel any different about your friendship?
Nana sighed. "It's hard to believe, isn't it?"
"Yeah, just a little." You both chuckled.
"Oh, and one more question." You said.
"Okay! What is it?" she asked.
"Who's that guy that you were talking to in the café? Because that's the guy that bumped into me twice at school yesterday!" You asked and partly screamed.
Nana raised an eyebrow. "So you did spy on me, Heeyoung-ah?"
Oops.
"Heh..." You smiled meekly but Nana just laughed.
"Nobody you want to know." She answered with a smile.
You smiled back in relief. So everything was back to normal. Well, as normal as it could get with a wizard as your best friend.
Nana's smile quickly faded as her eyes zoned out. She looked like she had seen a ghost.
"Nana?" You asked concerned. "Are you okay? Kwenchana?"
She didn't seem to hear you because she didn't answer you for several seconds. Right when you were about to ask her again, she replied in an urgent tone.
"Heeyoung-ah. You met Kim Jongin..."
"Yeah, I think so." You said, but Nana's reply was more of a statement than a question.
"Oh no..." Nana's eyes still looked lost and terrified which made you feel afraid too. And confused.
"I gotta get you out of here..."
"Huh?"
"Somewhere far away from here..."
"What are you talking about?"
Nana never did answer your questions. She looked back into your eyes that were coated with fear.
"I'm sorry I have to do this, Heeyoung-ah." She whispered.
Everything went black.
