Shopping Trip

Rise of the Weirdos

The next day...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, you woke up in relief since it was finally Saturday. You sat up, stretched your arms up towards the ceiling, and yawned. Gazing over at your roomate's bed, you saw that it was empty and neatly made. Nana must have already gotten up. You checked the alarm clock.

10:22 a.m.

Dang... I slept late. You thought. I wonder if Nana is getting ready.

Saturdays were the days that you and Nana liked to spend the entire afternoon shopping, buying out almost the entire mall. Of course, the two of you would first have to decide what to wear, how to fix your hair, find out about any new sales, and which credit cards to bring. The credit cards were always a pain for Nana to choose from since she just stashed them all in a box under her bed, and she was always forgetting which ones were still active. Little did she know how lucky she was to even own a credit card. Because of your financial issues at home, you never had the opportunity to afford one. You and Aunt Kahi shared a bank account with what little money it contained. Aunt Kahi had a credit card, but it was only used for food and other necessities. You were glad that only Nana and Luhan only knew about it because you didn't want everyone at school to think that you were just a poor loser with no money. You couldn't help but feel embarrassed about it, so your best friends were the only ones who knew and respected that. Besides, Nana would always insist on lending you one of her hundreds of cards to buy some new clothes since she told you that it was always more fun to shop with her best friend than to buy things alone.

On the way to the mall, as you sat in the passenger seat of Nana's silver convertible, you were still a little wary around Nana. You looked over at your best friend and thought about how normal she looked. She didn't look like she could have magic powers or make plants choke someone or heal someone who was in pain. She looked like your everyday average, pretty teenage girl. You tried to shake off the eerie feeling that something about Nana wasn't quite right, but the feeling still lingered, refusing to leave your mind. Again, you were a rational person.

But you knew what you saw last night at the fashion show.

You covered up your feelings with your usual smile, and the two of you made small talk about which sales to check out when you arrived at the mall.

Immediately, Nana sprinted into a clothing store with a giant "80% Off!" sale sign in the window. You giggled and followed her in. The two of you tried on probably 50 different outfits before deciding to only buy two matching shirts instead. Nana also bought two more matching shirts, but one was in the men's sizes.

"Who's that for?" you asked her.

"Oh... um, nobody." your best friend blushed.

You raised an eyebrow and smirked at her.

"Lemme guess. Oh Sehun?"

"SSHHHHH!!!!!" Nana blushed red and quickly looked around her to see if anyone had heard as if the other shoppers knew who he was.

"It's okay... I'm sure he'll love your couple shirts." You laughed, making Nana blush once more.

"L-Let's just go get some lunch already! I'm starving." Nana quickly changed the subject.

The two of you walked to the food court and decided on Japanese food, so you both ended up ordering udon. You guys paid and sat down at a table to wait for the food to arrive.

"So..." Nana began, smirking playfully. "Do you have any crushes on anyone yet?"

You nearly choked on your own spit. "Well, that was random."

"What?" Nana feigned innocence. "I was just wondering~... I know that you like to be in relationships, Heeyoung-ah."

"Um... well, I don't think so. I mean, there's a lot of cute guys at school and stuff, but I don't know... I just haven't found the right one yet."

"Aww... how sweet!" Nana smiled. "Okay then. You know, if you ever need any dating advice, I'll be here."

"Okay, now who ordered the chicken udon and who ordered the shrimp udon?" The waiter carried two bowls of udon to the table.

"Shrimp for her, chicken for me please." Nana smiled politely.

The waiter set the bowls down and bowed. "Enjoy your meal."

"Wait!" Nana stopped him.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Can I have a refill please?"

"But you haven't even drank anything-"

"I said please!" Nana demanded.

"Psssh. Fine." The waiter rolled his big, round eyes and took her full glass of water to the kitchen.

You stared at Nana in confusion. "What was all that about?"

Nana smiled. "Oh, he just owes me."

"You know him?"

"Yeah, he's an old friend of mine."

"Does he go to our school?"

"No."

"What's his name?"

"Why are you so interested in him?" Nana chuckled lightly. "Do you think he's cute or something?"

You blushed. "N-No! I was just asking! Aish..."

Nana laughed again. "Mianhae... he can't be in a relationship anyway."

You really weren't interested, but you were only trying to learn more about one of Nana's friends.

When the waiter came back to your table, you quickly checked his nametag.

Kyungsoo.

His name meant honor and long life. It sounded a bit old-fashioned to you, but nonetheless was an interesting name.

"There's your freaking refill! You happy now?" Kyungsoo slammed the cup on the table.

"YAH!! Is that any way to talk to a customer?" Nana nearly yelled at him.

"Just say thanks and eat your food already."

You found their conversation to be quite humorous and internally cracked up. They must have been really close friends.

"Gomawo. There. Are you happy now?"

"Yep."

"Okay then. You can get back to cooking or cleaning or whatever you do in the kitchen."

"Fine. But you better eat all of that."

"Only if it's good. I'll come see you later, Kyungie. Okay?" Nana smiled at him.

"Okay..." Kyungsoo sighed. "See you later, Im Jin-"

"YAH." Nana stopped him midsentence and quickly glanced back at you with a worried expression on her face. Kyungsoo's eyes grew wide as he clasped his hand over his mouth. He scurried off to the kitchen and left you wondering what that was all about.

Wait a minute... You thought. Im Jin... Ah? Was he going to say that? Call Nana the same name that the Kai dude from last night had called her?

You decided to leave it alone and just eat your udon before it got cold. You and Nana gobbled the whole bowl down ( A/N not the bowl just the food ) because it was so good. After you guys were done, you both left and continued to shop.

The two of you ventured from store to store, in and out, browsing and buying. Spotting a silver chain necklace with an amethyst stone in the middle, you decided to buy it for your Aunt Kahi. Your Aunt Kahi looked really good in purple and needed some new jewelry anyway.

She's going to love this. You smiled to yourself.

"What'cha got there?" Nana looked over your shoulder at the necklace in your palms.

"A gift for Aunt Kahi." You said, walking over to the cashier.

"Need any money?" Your best friend asked sincerely.

She had a right to think you needed some extra money to afford a necklace this beautiful, but you just shook you head.

"I can afford this. It's only 45 dollars."

What you were really thinking was how expensive it was, but it didn't matter to you. Aunt Kahi deserved this after everything she's done for you. Besides, you wanted to buy it for her yourself.

After the purchase, Nana exclaimed, "Let's go to the makeup store before we leave! I don't need much, so it won't take that long."

You didn't really care. It was fun shopping with Nana anyway.

Nana disappeared into the makeup shop as you searched the aisles for yourself. You weren't going to buy anything, but it was cool looking at the different kinds of makeup. Your favorite aisle was the eyeliner aisle because there were all different types of eyeliner colors.

Pretty. You thought as you picked up a tube of blue eyeliner.

"That's the one!!! That's the one!!!" Someone was shouting from the other side of the store.

It sounded like a guy.

Peering around the aisle, you noticed what looked like a small teenage boy jumping up and down like a five year-old. He seemed like a very enthusiastic person, and people were staring at him like he was some kind of crazy, hyper, little kid. He was helping a customer pick out the perfect shade of lip gloss.

Does he work here?

You took a few steps closer, and he must have been a worker because he was wearing a nametag.

Baekhyun. It said.

He moved on to help another customer, but then he caught you staring at him. Embarrassed, you tried not to show it by looking in another direction at some concealers, but he walked up to you anyway. There was no way to avoid him now. He smiled at you then down at your hands at the blue eyeliner bottle you were holding.

"Girl, that is not the right eyeliner for you." He said then walked away.

You couldn't help but giggle after he said that, but he seemed to know his stuff, so you put the bottle back where you found it and went to go look for Nana. She was in the checkout line holding lipgloss, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and concealer in her arms. ( A/N that's a lot of things if she bought more than one of each )

You just chuckled and let your best friend buy it all.

"Ready to go?" You asked.

Nana nodded, struggling to carry all of her shopping bags at once. You laughed again and carried some for her, almost feeling like everything was back to normal.

~~~
The sun was setting by the time you guys made it back to the dorm. Shopping all day sure did drain the energy out of you. Exhausted, you plopped down on the couch and the TV.
"Yah, Nana." You called out. "Wanna watch a movie?"
"No thanks."
"Oh, well we can work on calculus homework together-"
"If I didn't want to watch a movie, then what makes you think I'd want to do homework?" Nana chuckled. "I'm really tired. I think I'm just gonna take a nap." Nana said and went into the bedroom.
That's weird. Nana never gets tired after a shopping trip. And since when does she nap?
Shrugging it off, you flipped the TV on and scanned through the pay per views. You soon grew bored and decided that it would be way more fun to draw on Nana's face while she was sleeping. Grabbing a marker from your bookbag, you tiptoed to the bedroom door and slowly cracked it open. You gasped, expecting to see your best friend passed out on her bed, but she wasn't even asleep after all. She was standing with her back towards you buttoning up a jacket. Nana had changed clothes, curled her hair, and fixed her makeup. She looked pretty, but you were confused as to why she was dressing up this late at night when she had told you that she was going to take a nap.
"Nana? Where are you going?" You asked her.
Nana whirled around in shock. "H-Heeyoung-ah! You scared me."
"Sorry. I thought you were taking a nap."
After taking a deep breath, Nana replied, "I'm going to a fashion shoot. It's an emergency. One of the models couldn't make it so I got called to fill in at last minute." Nana finished buttoning up her jacket. "I'll be back before you know it."
You looked her up and down. "You look like you're going on a date."
"A model must always look her best." Nana said quickly.
She fluffed up her hair one last time before turning to leave the room.
"What were you planning on doing with that?" She pointed at the marker still in your hands.
"Um... nothing?" You chuckled nerviously and hid it behind your back.
Nana raised an eyebrow at you before leaving the room. "Don't wait up for me, okay? It might take longer than expected."
"Okay... have fun."
"Thanks. I'll see you later." And with that, Nana left the dorm.
You couldn't help but feel that Nana was hiding something. But at the same time, she was your best friend and you should trust her. Why did you feel like she was lying to you?
You watched her climb into her car from your window and drive off. Before you even knew what you were doing, you were in your own car, following her from a distance so that she wouldn't notice you.
What the heck am I doing... You thought. I need to turn around and go back.
But you didn't.
You continued to drive on instinct, like you had no control over you actions whatsoever.
Your suspicions were confirmed when you saw her drive up to the Exotic Café.
So your best friend had lied to you.
You remembered from Nana and Kai's conversation last night that they said they would meet up at the Exotic Café to "discuss things". Maybe their discussion would answer some of your questions about Nana.
You stealthily snuck into the café shortly after Nana had gotten a table. You sat down a few tables away from her and hid your face with the menu; just close enough to hear what she had to say and just far enough away so that she wouldn't recognize you. She was sitting alone and ordered a cup of coffee. As you were spying on her out of the corner of your menu, you almost didn't notice the impatient waitress who was giving you the evil eye. You looked up at her innocently.
"Can I help you?" You asked her.
"I asked you five times already what you would like..." The waitress mumbled, annoyed.
"Oh..." You were embarrassed. How long had she been standing there again?
"Um... I'll just have a salad."
"Ma'am, we don't sell salads."
"Oh... why not?"
"This is a café..."
"Oh yeah... Right. Um, okay then. I'll just have a cinnamon roll."
"You sure about that ma'am? Looks to me like you've got enough rolls."
"E-Excuse me?" Your mouth fell open.
"I'll come back later when you've decided." And with that, the waitress turned around and left.
Quickly grabbing your belly, you poked and examined it, checking for any unsightly rolls.
Aish... Some waitress. She should be fired for being so rude.
You looked back over at Nana's table to see another person sitting with her.
Kai.
So he was real. And everything that happened last night was real too.
So you weren't crazy.
Looked like you wouldn't be needing that therapist after all.
