Chapter 3: I Wished To Be Free

Kim Hye Ri's POV:

"See anything new today?" My father asks.

I shake my head. "Nothing out of the ordinary."

My father gives me a look, like he doesn't believe me.

"You're still making money." I add, "If that worries you at all."

"I don't want to be making money." My fathers snaps. "I want to be making LOTS of money! I want these people who come to this casino, whose pockets are filled with cash when they walk in, walk out with nothing. Not even a penny! I want to make it all!"

"Then they'll go bankrupt." I say.

My father sighs, "Hye Ri, we've already has this talk before. It doesn't matter as long as I'm making money. Now be a good girl and watch the screens. I'll be back in an hour." he says, picking up his jacket. "T.O.P watch her, make sure she doesn't try any funny business."

"As if I'd get anywhere." I mumble.

Every single time I had run away, I had gotten caught...

"Good, keep thinking like that." My father says on his way out.

"Finally that old man is gone!" T.O.P says hopping onto the desk. "Now we can party!"

I laugh, "With who exactly? We're the only ones who can come in here besides my father."

"Can't we party by ourselves?" T.O.P asks.

"Yeah, but it'd be a pretty sad party."

"Well as they say, one's a company, and two's a party." T.O.P says.

"Actually," I say, "It's two's a crowd, and three's a party." I correct him.

"Whatever. Let's have some fun?" T.O.P says pulling me away from the screens. "You've been starting at them all day, and you hadn't had any fun for such a long break."

"Yeah my father's too cheap to give me vacation days."

"But today is such a special day." T.O.P says, "And your father didn't even say anything."

I snort, "Did you expect him to? Of course he'd forget, he never remembers."

Today was my 21st birthday...And like every other birthday for as long as I can remember he forgot.

Not that I care...

T.O.P looks at me sadly, "I remembered."

I give him a small smile, "Thanks T.O.P."

"And..." T.O.P says reaching behind him, "I brought cake!"

I look at the beautiful cake T.O.P had gotten me.

"I got it customly designed just for you. Happy 21st birthday Hye Ri."

"Aww thanks T.O.P that means a lot." I say, thankfully.

Even though T.O.P did this every year, it still gave me that warm bubbily feeling in the pit of my stomach.

The feeling that someone actaully cared.
