Kyungsan didn't have after-school club activities like Yoogeun and Lauren did. He was already class president and the top of his grade and keeping that up kept him busy enough. He wanted to be home to help his family do the chores and be together with them because eventually he'd have to move away and his time with them—the way he liked his life, the amount of free time and all—he understood was limited to only a few more years. That was more important to him than any kind of sport because he was a very filial son.

Today, however, he decided to postpone going home when some of his girl friends said they wanted to stay and watch the teams practicing from the bleachers. At the top you could see all of them at the same time. Which meant he'd be able to see Yoogeun on the baseball grounds and Lauren practicing cheers and tumbling in the grassy sideline fields with her squad. He chatted with the girls casually, walking with a slight extra, excited bounce to his naturally upbeat gate.

They took a seat at the bleachers along the top with him in the center and cute girls on his sides and below him. Though he replied to their comments and excited reactions, he wasn’t really looking at a single one.

“Oppa, look at that!”

“It looks so fun, but how is she not scared?”

“I wish I was that flexible.”

He didn't need to follow their pointing fingers because his attention was already fully directed that way. Lauren, her hair tied in a high ponytail and dressed in her training uniform of white, tight, aerodynamic t-shirt and black, spandex shorts, made a back handspring double flip and as she landed, she stepped into four muscular, senior guy's steady hands. They tossed her up and she did splits in the air, touching her toes, then fell back. After she landed, she somersaulted from their arms, landing in a typical pretty, peppy pose. Then she stepped away so others could do their flying routines. She joined the rest of the girls in the y, hip-hop choreography with her usual brilliant smile being hidden by a confident expression full of the appropriate attitude.

“Whoa, she’s good...” the girls oo-ed and awed.

“Oppa, isn't that your friend?” One girl tapped his knee and then preceded to lay on it like she was his personal lap cat.

Kyungsan smiled big, not taking his eyes off of Lauren. “Yeah, she is.”

“Hmm...So if I want you to look at me like that, I have to get on the team and dance like that, huh oppa?”

He laughed and shook his head. “No, Karin, we're not like that. And you should just be you. Of course, if you want to be on the cheer-leading team, I won't stop you. You'll be popular and make a ton of friends. Lauren says it's really fun and everyone's nice. Why don't you try out?"

She pouted her pink-glossed lips and it was quite cute, even his heart thumped a bit though he was sure that was more of a chemical reaction caused by her s being pressed purposely against his thigh.

“But that will take time away from being with you, oppa.”

He smiled sweetly and brushed his hand affectionately over her head. “No, it won't. I promise I'll come watch you everyday.”

“Really?”

The other girls piped up, turning to him with excited, interested expressions. “Really?!” “I want to join!” “I'll try out!” “Me too!”

“I'll come watch all of you if you make it, so try your best this summer.”

He chuckled and brushed his hands over their soft hair like they were affectionate, playful kittens fighting for his attention and he wanted to show them love equally. Every girl and every friend of his deserved the same treatment...Well, maybe some more than others, he thought as his eyes drifted back to the field.

“Nina, who's that?! Look, look!”

“Ow, Rosa, no need to pinch!”

The girls squealed, looking in one direction and pointing. Kyungsan was slightly miffed that some sweaty, baseball guy had stolen his girls' attention. But his irritation turned to amusement when he heard who they were talking about, the girls having read his name from his jersey uniform. Yoogeun was pitching and looking cool striking out his poor fellow teammates as usual. The coach must have said something to him because he started pitching nicer so his teammates could practice hitting. Usually it was near impossible to get a run off of him.

After ten more fast balls, he paused to take a breather. He took off his cap and shook his wettened, black hair into his eyes and then gracefully flicked his head to the side to get it off his forehead. He wiped his hand across his neck to get the sweat off, the muscles of his arms and hands flexing in the sunlight. This all made the girls squeal as they watched him with flushed, dreamy expressions.

Yoogeun then left his pitcher's mound, being replaced by another member so he could get in batting practice too. He slipped on a helmet, grabbed a wooden bat, and stepped to the plate, giving a few practice swings. He smiled at someone across the field, pointed his bat to them, and then got in position—squatting down, spreading his legs, raising the bat over his shoulder and wiggling his as was customary.

The girls around Kyungsan leaned forward in their seats, holding in their breaths and chewing on their painted nails. He was more relaxed as he watched because he'd seen this dozens of times. Yoogeun hit the first ball with a loud smack in a pop fly and dashed to first base. It went way past the outfielders and was considered a home-run after it was caught by someone. Yoogeun lagged around the basses, leaving a firm step on home base.

That was cool as usual, I kind of hate you when you do stuff like that, Kyungsan thought with admiration and envy. The person that had caught the ball was walking close to the field and he noticed it was Lauren. Then they were walking towards each other and he watched them, feeling anxious and irritated for some odd reason. The other girls were looking at the two as well, except for Karin who was eying Kyungsan with concern.

“I caught it!” Lauren said proudly with a cocky grin as she approached the in-field, holding out the small, white prize.
