A Day Like Any Other?

Can I Stay At Your Place?

The staff door to the small yet popular restaurant flung open revealing a tall boy in his late teens. His brown hair were all messy from his crazy running from the apartment to his working place, and he was panting as if he had been running a marathon, not just the 10 minutes run from his home. One would think that all the running he did every morning would give him a better physical condition, but he was panting for air and sweating under his jacket.
His colleague and friend Kim Ryeowook watched him in amusement as he tied the chef's apron around his thin waist. The much shorter but still older man never had this kind of problem, since he always left his home in time.

"Stop grinning at me." Kyuhyun huffed as he opened his jacket and took it off before hanging it on a hook with his name on a printed sign.
"You could try to leave your apartment earlier, and you wouldn't have to run like an idiot every morning to be on time." His hyung answered with a chuckle.
Kyuhyun huffed again. "Maybe I like running in the morning. It makes me more awake and alert when taking care of the costumers." He replied and tied his own, slightly different, apron around his waist, already wearing his uniform since he always changed at home.

Unlike his friend that worked as one of the chefs, he was one of ther waiters. The youngest he might add. This was probably for the best, since he couldn't cook and was a disaster in the kitchen if he tried to do anything more advanced then instant ramen soup. And seeing as he didn't work in a cheap ramen shop, he was better off serving the costumers.

"Off to serve costumers." Kyuhyun stated and left the staff's room together with his friend. However, they soon parted ways as Ryeowook headed into the kitchen and Kyuhyun walked into the big restaurant area, picking a small note pad up from a desk, ready for the day's first costumers.
But mornings were always slow, so he ended up leaning against a counter reading a morning paper. Two other waiters were lounging behind the bar counter, that were only open in the evenings.

Then finally the first costumers arrived, and to Kyuhyun's luck they choosed one of his tables. He quickly made his way over to the couple, glad to have something to do. With a polite smile he showed them the menus and waited patiently when they tried to decide. Then he wrote the orders down in his little note pad and walked to the kitchen and handed Ryeowook the order.
And that's how his day continued. Always the same, and at the end of his shift he could barely bring himself to smile at the costumers. The smiles were all fake as he knew that he was handsome and young and could get some gratuity. And the costumers appreciated if he looked happy and kind.

A few hours went as they got quite busy with the lunch costumers, and when the wave ebbed off, Kyuhyun took a small break in the staff's room. Around lunch time it was always stressy, and it was nice to sit down and take it easy and eat some lunch himself.
He slowly emptied his plate, enjoying the rest for his tired legs. Good thing he had an hour long lunch break. He even managed a few minutes nap and felt refreshed when he once again entered the main area.

Just then a costumer entered and looked around, seeming a bit lost at first. Probably a new costumer, Kyuhyun thought and picked his note pad up.
The young man, maybe a few years older than himself, found a small empty table by the window and sat down, taking his jacket off in the process and hung it over the back of the chair.
Kyuhyun put on his usual smile and made his way over to the costumer. "Welcome to Monty's Little Heaven, would you like to look at the menu?" He asked, and found himself look twice at the man as he turned his head to look at him.
The man had short black hair that framed his face, dark kind eyes and finely bow-shaped lips. His smile was just as kind as his eyes and he had an innocent air about him. A beautiful and rather pretty man.

"What do you recommend?" Kyuhyun snapped out of his thoughts when the man spoke up with an amused smile.
Quickly the waiter pushed his thoughts away and returned to being professional and told the man what the kitchen recommended today. The man smiled and ordered a plate of the recommended food and just a glass of water, and Kyuhyun quickly scribbled it down in his note pad before walking off to the kitchen, feeling the man's eyes following him.

After leaving the note to Ryeowook he poured a big glass of water and returned to the man's table. Said man was currently busy talking on the phone, but he smiled thankfully at Kyuhyun anyway as the glass was placed in front of him.
Also when he served the man his food he was still on the phone, simply nodding as a thank you. Not that it was any of Kyuhyun's business what the man did when he ate, as long as he didn't disturb the other guests.

The rest of the work shift went by fast and soon Kyuhyun was untying his apron and throwing it in a laundry basket. He quickly put his jacket on and called out a 'good bye' to Ryeowook before he left through the staff's door and out into the cool October air.
He started to walk the well-known path to his home with his hands in his pockets in an attempt to keep them warm. He made a mental note that it was time to buy new gloves, or he would freeze his hands off this winter.

The whole way home he couldn't help but think about the beautiful man that had visited the restaurant today. It wasn't like him to react like that because of a costumer. They were usually just faces tht he sometimes saw return, but he never really registered any of them. Not like he had done today.

"Aish, I'm feeling lonely now?" The more he thought about it, the more he realized that it might be true. He did feel lonely at times, even though he sometimes hanged out with Ryeowook. But Ryeowook was just one friend, the only one he had. It was a sad thought actually.
Slowly he shook his head at his own thoughts. He had to stop before his thoughts got too depressing.

He got to his apartment building and took  the stairs to the third floor as he knew that the lift was out of comission again. As usual he had to fight with the lock to manage to unlock it. It was old and he knew that he should contact someone to fix a new one, he just hadn't found the energy to do so.
Once inside he took his jacket off and hung it on the single hook and kicked his shoes off. He ended up staring at his old, dirty converse sneakers. It was really time to buy new ones, but he didn't like go shopping. He actually hated it, and only did it when he absolutely had to.

He left the hall and walked into the small living room that contained an old TV, his game consoles, two coffee tables littered with different remotes, papers and game discs. Then there was the big-really-old-but-oh-so-comfy couch that he had gotten from his aunt when he moved from his parent's house.
Everywhere you could find clothes, on the floor, on the couch, under the couch, on the windowsill, on the lamp. No, Kyuhyun was NOT a clean freak, like Ryeowook.

Sometimes Kyuhyun invited the older over just because he knew that the other couldn't enter a messy house without cleaning up the mess, and so he got the apartment cleaned without having to do anything himself. Of course he always treated his hyung something nice afterwards.

But now it was some time since he had invited Ryeowook over, and so the house was a catastrophe.
Kyuhyun bent down and picked a big sweater up from halfway under the couch. Something was wrong with the heating system in the building and had been for some time. The janitor was a lazy one that didn't like doing his job. And so the apartment was rather chilly and Kyuhyun couldn't afford having heaters in every room. Only the bedroom had one, so he could sleep at night without freezing.

He took the sweater as well as some other clothes and went into the minimal, claustrophobic bathroom. He undressed and threw the clothes in a corner. Then he stepped into the shower and turned the water on. He simply stood still for five minutes, letting the water wash the day's stress off. The he washed his hair and body, then enjoyed the water a little longer. When he felt that the water started to get cold he turned it off and grabbed a towel with a huge Pikachu print on. He quickly dried himself as he quickly got cold and then dressed again.

Once done in the bathroom and went into the small kitchen and opened the refrigerator and took a carton of chocolate milk and poured it into a huge glass. He dug around some more and found a plate with take-out food from yesterday. His fabulous dinner.

He brought the food and milk wirth him into the second bedroom that was his computer/gaming room, and made himself comfortable in the chair before his advanced gaming computer with all its entire appurtenance.
The reason why Kyuhyun was a poor boy that couldn't afford lots of food, new clothes and extra heaters was that all his money went to his computers. Yes, computerS. He had three; two stationary, one for gaming, and then a laptop.
When he sat in his computer room, Kyuhyun felt like a rich man.

He wrapped a blanket around himself and started the gaming computer. While he waited for it to start he picked his laptop up and placed it in his lap and started it as well. As soon as he was connected to the Internet a chat window appeared. Heenim was early today.

Heenim: Finally home babyboy, dun keep ur hyung waiting

Gaem: I work, unlike some others I know

Heenim: Heenim doesn't have to work

Gaem: Spoiled brat

Heenim: Watch it babyboy!!

And so the conversation went on. Heenim was a friend that he first met on a forum on a game site. The, as far as he knew, older one had caught Kyuhyun's interest with a comment and he started a conversation and he was not disappointed. The other was a nice change from his daily and boring life with his diva-ish personality and dorky comments. But he had never met Heenim in real life. The other said that he was 25 and lived in Hoengseong in a small apartment and got money from his parents who had rather well paying jobs. But he liked Heenim a lot, and he believed that he said the truth.

After chatting some with his friend he put the laptop away as Starcraft was done loading and just waiting for him to start the game. He wasn't going to disappoint.

The next hours was filled with intense gaming and some chatting inbetween. As usual, he totally forgot the time and before he knew it, it was close to midnight. He probably wouldn't have noticed it at all if it wasn't for Heenim pointing it out for him. With a heavy sigh he turned the game off, then said good night to the older before turning the computers off.
He stood up from the chair and stretched his back with a groan, hearing his back pop. Still wrapped up in his blanket he went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth, looking at his reflection in the mirror.

He rarely took the time to really look at his face. Heenim always called him handsome, even though Kyuhyun never had showed the older any pictures of himself. Ryeowook had also pointed that he's handsome at some point, as had the other workers, jokingly saying that the majority of the young girls that visited the restaurant come because of Kyuhyun.
It wasn't that he thought he was ugly or something, it was just that he thought that his face wasn't anything secial. Neither was his body. He was tall and lanky, actually pretty thin.

He shook his head and spat in the sink before wiping his mouth with a towel. Then he left the bathroom and went into the bedroom and crashed down on the bed, before remembering that he still was fully dressed. With a sigh he pulled all clothes off and dropped them on the floor, only wearing his boxers. Then he took a big black t-shirt out from under his pillow and put it on before lying down. He wrapped himself snuggly into the blanket and curled up like a child and yawned.

When he closed his eyes, a certain face appeared. He was thinking about that pretty costumer again. He couldn't help but wonder if the man would come again some day. He had liked that kind face, for some reason.
He sighed heavily. Cho Kyuhyun had trouble making friends and avoided people trying, but now he couldn't get a stranger's face out of his mind.
