Chapter 09 – Afterthoughts
The gentle breeze coaxed my skin as I shuffled the rest of the way home. My mind was dwelling in a far off world and I almost tripped over my own two feet. Ever since my encounter with the strange girl {Bae Suzy , my mind devotedly reminded me}, I couldn’t get my head out of the clouds.
I had grown curious of her: the way her chocolate brown eyes wavered with hesitation – then lit up with a fierce ignition of fire every time I shot an insult at her, and how she spoke as if she were hiding a secret – a deep dark one like a fragile wound that had not fully recovered.
It was a strange thing, truly. Usually I found girls repulsive. They all smelled like magazine advertisements and spoke in a frivolously aggravating manner that drove me insane. And they always wanted something from you. That was what irritated me the most.
But Bae Suzy was different
She was a body of dwindling uncertainty. Undecided. In a way, Bae Suzy was a withered flower. Already grey and deserted – but every now and then there would be a spark of existence, a reawakened energy that had patiently bubbled up, only waiting it turn to speak.
I unconsciously smiled as I thought of the silly bickering fights back in the park, then I quickly forced my lips back into a tight frown. I couldn’t afford to think like that –
BANGGGGG ---- My head delightfully collided with a street light post arousing me from my evanescent thoughts.
Aissshhhhh!” I scowl rubbing my head furiously. I give the light post a rage-filled kick and injure my foot this time.
Yeah, that’s what you get Kim Myungsoo for thinking about that crazy girl.
“Myungsoo-ah!” cried a painfully familiar voice that hurt my head even more “Oppa! Are you okay?!”
It was Park Jiyeon. She stood feet away balanced on her signature devil horns and blood red high heels that soared several inches high. Her hair was knotted in some extravagantly unnecessary updo and her dress had an assortment of sparkling sequences that reflected obnoxiously in the sun. The glittery frills fired laser beams at my eyes.
“Aishh, your blinding my eyes!” I mutter, shooting Jiyeon a hostile glare. I try my best to wave her away but she only comes closer.
“Oppa! I’ve missed you” she pouted
“I’m so honored, really” I joke emotionlessly
