Chapter 6.
Just Go With The FlowThursday, Kris and Lay will be here in about an hour. What am I going to wear?!?!?!? I was beyond frantic that day; I had finally made up my mind to confess my feelings to Kris and wanted to look my best. I spent half an hour searching for an outfit and another half tidying up the house. I was setting out some snacks for the three of us when the doorbell rang. They’re here. Taking off the apron I was wearing and combing through my hair with my fingers tips, I took one last glance in the mirror before opening the door.
“Hey guys!” I acted like I always did and lead them to the living room where we studied.
“Oh somebody’s looking extra pretty today.” Lay gave me a knowing smirk before setting his things on the table. I gave him a glare then smiled at Kris.
“What? Nah, I look like this all the time.” I let out an awkward laugh and took my books out as well.
“So what did you guys learn this week?” We spent the next hour or so practising the new words and phrases they learned. I helped them with their pronunciation and touched up their writing as well. I almost forgot about the plan I had for the day when Lay nudged my side lightly. I looked over at him and he mouthed the words “I'm gonna go! Jia you!” and pointed at Kris.
“I'm craving Milkis right now, gonna run out and grab some drinks. You guys want anything?” Lay got up and threw on his jacket when Kris said he didn't want anything. Scared, I panicked and tugged on his shirt giving a “don't you dare leave me alone!” look. He laughed and gave me a quick thumbs up before leaving. Kris was absorbed in practising his writing when I cleared my throat, trying to grab his attention.
“Um Kris..?” Alright I can do this! No I can't...
“Hmm?” He didn't even stop his writing as he answered, tearing his eyes off the page only after I remained silent for 30 seconds.
“I.. uh.. um...” A loud crack of thunder echoed in the distance and I lost my train of thought, frozen by my fear for lighting.
Worried, Kris started waving his hands in front of my face.
“Are you okay?”
“Oh um yea... sorry about that. Nevermind.” He gave me a confused look then went back to writing. I tried to keep my mind of the thunderstorm happening outside but flinched every time I heard a low rumble. As I attempted to concentrate on my work Kris's phone rang scaring me just a little bit.
“Hello? What?! Oh um... Okay I'll let her know.” Kris set his phone down and tapped on my shoulder.
“That was Yixing, one of our friend's Luhan called him over to help him with some dance steps so he just kinda left. He told me to tell you he's not coming back. Guess I'll be going once I finish up the last of this too then.” Crap, I need to do something soon!
“Oh okay then.” I took a deep breath and was about to speak up when an extremely loud thunder had struck, causing me to drop jump up from my seat. Great.
“Uh.. I'm going to the washroom. I'll be back in a bit.” Good one. I pushed my chair in awkwardly and made my way to the washroom. Fishing out my phone I frantically texted Lay.
“I can't do it! It's too scary and I'm far too embarrassed! I can't even think of what I'm supposed to say!” Literally seconds after I clicked the send button my phone started to vibrate.
“Stop thinking with your head and feel with your heart you idiot! You think too much! Just go with the flow! I'm helping you big time here! Don't let me down man!!! Jia You~~~” He's right. Washing my face at the sink I took another deep breath in and walked outside only to see him packing up his books. Ah no he can't leave yet!
“Wait you're leaving now?” My voice came up as a half whisper and Kris must have been confused as to why I was acting this way.
“Yea, it's getting late. I think I'll just go and practice the new dance moves with Yixing and Luhan.” He swung his bag over his left arm and headed for the door.
“Wait. I need to tell you something.” I looked him in the eyes and opened my mouth to tell him how I felt when another lighting struck causing the thunder to roar. I had forgotten about thunderstorm in my rush to keep Kris from leaving and lost my balance due to the shock it gave me. I would have fallen over if Kris didn't catch me. My face was buried in his chest as he caught my fall. Embarrassed I couldn't even look at him as I stepped back and thanked him.
“Um.. u-uh.. y-yea... don't worry about it... What is it that you needed to tell me again?” Kris was stuttering. I looked up and saw a light pink spread across his handsome features. He couldn't even look into my eyes as he spoke. He does like me.
“Do you think you can stay just a little longer? I'm really scared of thunderstorms...” The words left my mouth before I had even registered them. Alright, going with the flow it is.
