“So what are you doing here in Seoul?” We were headed to the same ddukbokki shop in awkward silence before Lay decided to lighten up the atmosphere.

                “Oh um… I’m here on an exchange program. I’m hoping to become a translator and travel the world. I love learning new languages; it excites me when I’m able to communicate with different people all around the world.” I finished with a giant smile on my face.  I’m so glad that I went on that exchange program, can’t imagine what life would be like for me today if that didn’t happen.

                “Woah! That’s awesome! You should help the two of us with Korean. Our accents are absolutely awful!” Lay looked at me with wide eyes before smiling, the corners of his eyes crinkled and his dimples were showing.

                “If you guys really want, I’d love to. It helps me learn the language better when I help others.”  I have no idea what I ate that day. I usually say no to these things, but I just couldn’t say no to Lay while he had that adorable smile on his face.  Oh well, at least that meant more time with Kris right? Haha.     

               “Ahh I’m so hungry! Hurry up! Let’s go guys!” The ddukbokki shop was in our line of site when Lay grabbed both mine and Kris’s arms, pushing the two of us towards a table.

               “I’ll order so just tell me what you like, Kris and I eat the same things here.” I pointed at what I wanted and Lay ran towards the cashier leaving Kris and I alone.

               “Lay’s a really nice guy hey?” I didn’t know what I was thinking, I just wanted to say something to Kris and that was the first thing that popped into my head.

               “Oh… uh… yeah, he’s cool.” Kris wasn’t even looking at me when he said that. That dork.

               “How long have you two known each other? You two seem really close.” I wasn’t familiar with what SM or being a trainee was at the time so I was really curious as to how they knew each other.

               “Almost a year, we train together at SM and got pretty close since we’re the only two trainees who speak Mandarin fluently.” I think he was staring at his hands while telling me this; the memory is kind of blurry, all I remember for sure is that he wasn’t looking at me at all. 

              “I don’t know if this is a weird question but what do you mean by being trainees? I have no idea what that is. I’m still in the process of learning about Korean culture.” I must have lived under a rock for most of my life, I can’t believe I asked that question.

              “Really?” Kris finally looked up at my with a shocked expression on his face before he started to explain what being a “trainee” was.

             “That sounds extremely difficult, you two must really love music. I can’t imagine dancing and singing every single day for such an extended amount of time. I’m sure the two of you will do just fine when your debut comes.” I really meant what I said at that time, something about the way that Kris explained his trainee process to me reflected his strong will and passion. I guess you could say that it’s another part of Kris that I fell in love with, even though I didn’t know it yet. 

             “I would be lying if I said that being a trainee isn’t difficult but I get to do what I love and that’s really all that matters.” With a small smile spread across his face, Kris looked at Lay then the sky. He must have been thinking about the day when all this training pays off.  Don’t worry, I was there when that day came and you were absolutely amazing.

Thank you guys so much for reading this! I'll try my best to update two or three times a week. My IB exams are starting tomorrow but writing is a form of stress relief for me and it makes me happy knowing that people are reading this even though I'm still new to it XP. If you guys like my writing though I have a bunch of oneshots completed for you guys to read. Only one of them is about EXO but I actually like quite a few of them *cough* Baby Steps *cough*.
