Rainbow“You actually are going to go bald, you know,” was all Sanghee could say as she eyed Byunghun’s new hair, now coloured a bright orange.
Byunghun ruffled his hair self-consciously. “What do you think?”
Sanghee pondered the question carefully. “Well, I think it–”
“L. Joe!” A girl with dark brown hair pulled into pigtails bounded over, beaming at Byunghun. “Wow, your hair looks amazing!”
Sanghee scowled as the girl reached up, patting his orange hair down in an unabashed display of affection. “And you would be…?”
“Oh, silly me!” She gave Byunghun a coy smile. “Don’t you remember me? I’m Lizzy. Park Sooyoung.”
Byunghun smiled. “I remember! It’s been ages since we talked, noona!”
Sanghee frowned disapprovingly. Not to mention the girl had been ignoring her the entire time, which was just plain rude. “Noona?” she repeated icily.
Lizzy gave her a confused look, before tugging at Byunghun’s arm. “L. Joe, who’s that?”
Byunghun gently shook her off. “This is Sanghee, one of my best friends. And Sanghee, this is Lizzy noona – she’s a family friend.”
The two girls smiled at each other before turning back to Byunghun. “So, L. Joe, we should–”
“Actually, Byunghun,” Sanghee interrupted, “we should get to class. You can talk to Lizzy later, right? Come on!” She grabbed his hand and tugged him away, wriggling her fingers in farewell to the other girl.
“Sanghee, you know we have another 5 minutes before lunch ends, right?”
“I needed to get something from my locker,” Sanghee answered brusquely, opening her locker and digging around in an attempt to back up her excuse.
“Were you jealous?” Byunghun gave her a pointed look, but she could see a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Sanghee continued rummaging around in her locker, pretending she didn’t hear the question.
“Sorry, what?” She gave him a bland smile.
Byunghun could see right through her. “You were totally jealous!”
