The Guardian Angel

“Ameeelliiiiiaaa~!” SeungRi looked at me with puppy dog eyes as I entered the kitchen. I looked at the table and noticed everyone else sitting in the dining room, starring at me. I laughed.

“I see someone..Or everyone is hungry. I’ll make breakfast.” I said, getting some eggs, milk, flour, and a bowl out. Suddenly, I felt a pair of hands on my own. “Huh?”

“Amelia. We must speak with you...Please sit with us.” Youngbae said, as he led me to the dining room, sitting me down next to Seung. I looked at all of them worried.

“What’s wrong guys...?” I asked my voice scratchy. Jiyong sent me a reassuring smile.

“Nothing’s wrong baby! Don’t worry!” He said, trying to make me feel better. I couldn’t help but feel even MORE worried.

“Amelia. Youngbae is getting married.” TOPsaid. My heart stopped. Youngbae…is getting married!?

“I see…Well, congratulations Youngbae..!” I said, trying to sound as cheerful as possible. He looked at me and weakly smiled. “So, who’s the lucky lady?” He sighed, not looking so happy.

“It isn’t truly out of love…My parents have set me up an arranged marriage. I don’t even know the girl, but from the sounds of it, she seems to be the kind of person who only cares about herself.” Youngbae said, his face in the palm of his hands.

“I’m sorry Youngbae…I don’t know how to help.” I said, putting my hand on his shoulder. He looked up at me, pain in his eyes. I couldn’t help but feel like I wasn’t doing my job; that I wasn’t making him happy, and making him feel that his life was good like I was supposed to…Not because I was his guardian angel, but because…I loved him.

I stood up, a fake smile appearing on my face. I bowed, “I’ll be in the room if needed…” I walked away, quickly as possible, walking into the nearest room that was open. I walked in and sat on the bed, putting my face in my hands, tears rolling down my face. I couldn’t believe what was happening. He was getting married. Youngbae was getting married. I heard someone walk into the room. I didn’t care who it was…I just looked down at my hands. A pair of strong arms wrapped around my figure, despite my wings. I looked up to findTOPhugging me. I leaned into his hug.

“Amelia. I’m sorry, but we didn’t want you to find out the hard way.” He said, laying his head on my own. I sighed.

“It’s fine. I’m glad he’s getting married, but I hate that he’s getting married with a self-centered woman. He shouldn’t be forced to marry without wanting to.” I said.

“I know. And to think that he was going to ask…” His voice trailed off.
“Am I invited to the wedding?”

“Of course. How would we not invite you? Youngbae wants you to be his maid of honor, seeing as the bride doesn’t have many friends on account of her repulsive attitude.” I sighed and nodded. I should feel honored, but why did I have such an envy towards someone who I didn’t even know?

Someone suddenly walked through the doors. It was Youngbae.

            “Oh um…I’m sorry to interu-“

“Nothing was happening. She just hurt herself walking in here. SeungRi left his shoe in the middle of the room, and she fell.” TOPsaid, walking out of the room. Youngbae rushed to my side, sitting next to me.

“Chunsa, are you okay?” he asked, worried. I nodded.

“You should be getting ready to meet your fiancée. Go on. I think I’m gonna go cook dinner. Alright?” I got up, walking towards the kitchen.

Jiyong entered the room where Youngbae was. He sat next to his friend, and sighed.

“I don’t understand. Why me? My dream is to get married and have a family, but…Not this way. I want to marry someone I love, not someone I don’t even know.” Youngbae states, resting his head on the palm of his hands.

“I know.  But what is there to do? It’s your parents we’re talking about. They want you to marry her for God knows what reason. You can’t get out of this unless YOU talk to them. I’m pretty sure your grandfather wouldn’t have wanted you to get married like this. I’m pretty sure none of the members, including Amelia, wants you to get married with such a person. You must confront the problem, Youngbae.” Jiyong said, patting his friend in reassurement.

“I guess I have no choice.” Youngbae got up and smiled at GD. “Thanks hyung. You always know how to help.”

“…Please say something.”SeungRi said, poking Amelia. She sat there on the couch, not a single movement coming from her. The members were all worried about her.

“Melon, baby, please say something!” Jiyong said, crouching next to her. She sighed, and smiled.

“I’m sorry. I guess I’m just not feeling too well.” She said, smiling at Jiyong. He smiled back, patting her head.

“How about we go somewhere? It should help get your mind off things for a while.” He said, grabbing her hand gently. She sighed, laughing at his sudden tenderness. TOP, DaeSung, and SeungRi all nodded, sitting next to her as well.

“It’ll be fun! We could go to Lotte World. I’m pretty sure we can call some of our friends to come along too. Maybe you could talk to some new people, and meet some new friends.” DaeSungsaid, enthusiastically. TOP nodded in approval.

“C’mon Jaigya. You have to get out and experience the outside world.” SeungRi said. Amelia sighed.

“Thanks you guys, but we can’t forget. I’m not normal. I’m your guardian angel. I’m not visible to anyone but you guys and your families.” She said, depressed. SeungRi began thinking.

“Can’t you ask to be visible for some time? Like, say for a week or two. Just so you can experience being normal. Couldn’t your creator fulfill your wish?”he asked. She thought about it for a while. Maybe it was possible for her creator to let her be a normal girl for even a while. She smiled and hugged SeungRi.

“I guess you’re right. It’s time I experience the life of a human. I should ask now. I’ll be back okay?” She asked opening the locket around her neck.

“Be careful! We’ll all be waiting to see the human you.” They all said. She smiled and suddenly, everything went blank.
