Day 18: 3 January 2024

50 poems a day

In shadows deep, our love does wane, a distance vast, a silent pain.

I strive to grasp what's lost in air, the emptiness, the love laid bare.

The gulf between, a widening sea, my heart aches for what used to be.

Attempts to bridge, to touch your soul, falter like waves that never reach the shore.

Should I be bold and seek to mend, or linger in silence, my heart to tend?

To ask for reconciliation's embrace, a risk to take, your heart to chase.

Yet fear whispers, a cautioning wind, reconciliation may leave scars thinned.

I hesitate, for I fear to tread, on paths where love and hurt have bled.

So, if this chapter ends in sorrow, I'll cherish the love, today, tomorrow.

Silently I'll love, respect, and adore, though love's tale ends, it's you I'll implore.
