Foreword
"But you promised..." She cried helplessly. The sky was growing steadily darker, clouds looming over their heads, threatening a storm.
"Forget what I promised, I just...can't." He spat out causing her to flinch. She took a step closer and reached out to grab his hand but he yanked it away and looked at her coldly. The clouds began to let go of little raindrops, creating a light drizzle.
"It's just how it has to be okay, just leave me alone." With that he started to walk away, leaving the girl alone with a tear stained face. She could feel the large drops of rain wash away her tears which kept on coming. She watched the retreating figure, standing still like a statue all alone underneath a street light.
At the end of the street was the boy who welcomed the late night drizzle, so it could conceal the hot tears running down his face. It hurt, everything he said hurt him twice as much as it hurt her. Seeing her face look so stricken and shocked made his heart crack in two. There was no way he could tell her that he was moving, it was better this way. To leave with a goodbye that didn't leave a lingering heartache. But why does it still hurt so much...
And the rain poured down.
