Concealed Truths
[Kyungah's POV]
I dragged my suitcases along behind me in one hand as I weaved in and out of people in the arrivals area. In my other hand I was scrambling around to try message my brother, Kihyun as he hadn't responded to any of my phone calls, and neither had my parents. "Come on! Answer the phone~" I whined to myself as none of his messages were being read either. I reached outside of the airport by the side of the bus station and sighed. Kihyun said he would come with my parents to pick me up from the airport, they knew my arrival time, where I would wait for them, everything. But there was no sign of them. Did they forget? Are they busy? Did they get stuck in traffic? "Come on Kihyun" I sighed as I watched my phone like a hawk and perched myself on the edge of one of my suitcases.
10 minutes passed, 30 minutes passed and then 1 hour. I glanced up at the bus timetable on the wall before looking down at the time on my phone. It was getting late and there was only one more bus which went nearby our family house leaving soon for today. "Let's go Kyungah" I sighed to myself as I approached the bus which was pulled up at the side. Maybe they had forgotten to pick me up, it wouldn't be the first time Kihyun had forgotten to do something.
I settled down in my chair on the bus as I opened up my phone again, immediately checking all the messages I had sent to my parents and Kihyun, but as expected there was still no response, not even a read notification on the messages.
I finally arrived and looked up at the house which I shared with my parents and Kihyun. Everything looked normal but I couldn't see any lights on in the house, since it was dark outside, I would have expected some lights to be on at least. I pushed open the gate and entered the courtyard, looking around as I dragged my suitcases along the cobbled path behind me. "Oooh~ is it a surprise party" I whispered to myself with a grin as I chuckled. After pulling my suitcases up the two steps to the front door, I paused to look around again. Was Kihyun going to jump out with my parents? Were they stood inside waiting for me? I pressed my ear against the front door for a couple of seconds but there was nothing. I couldn't hear anything, I couldn't see anything. Maybe it wasn't a surprise party after all.
After unlocking the front door, I crept inside and was faced with complete darkness. I frowned as I switched on the light and slipped off my shoes. It had taken me a while, maybe I should have been worried since I couldn't contact them at the airport, but now I was panicking. Something wasn't right, something didn't feel right.
"Is anyone here?!" I called out loudly as I was greeted with complete silence. No one replied. No one was here to reply. There was no one here.
Everything was so strange, my parents were always here. My mother had a home business as a tailoress and my father sold fruit and vegetables at the local market around the corner. Kihyun was also often here, he disappeared from now and again to meet his friends and play his guitar, but surely he would have been here today. They all knew I was coming back today, I hadn't been back here in 2 years, they wouldn't miss it. It was even written on the calendar on the wall in the kitchen, '5th September 2020, Kyungah returns!' So where were they? Something didn't feel right.
I knew Kihyun told me to never go into his room without his permission, but I knew it was something I needed to do. "Sorry Kihyun!" I cried out as I entered his bedroom and looked around. His guitar was missing from its stand and the guitar case was also gone beside it. Had he gone out to perform with his friends? I sighed loudly to myself before beginning to open his wardrobe, his drawers. Anything that I c
