Tuesday Noon, Week 4

Main Courtyard

It was lunchtime and a crowd of students had gathered at the main courtyard. On one end some tables were set up where students were lining up to get their free snacks and at the front there was a small stage set up with banners.

"Chorong…do we really have to watch Bomi stuff her face today I'd rather go study in the music rooms…" Changsub complained as Chorong dragged him by his shirt sleeve towards the courtyard.

"Oh come on I told her I'd be here!"

"Uggh…" Changsub groaned. He hated being around too many rowdy students. This school spirit crap was going to make him sick.

"See look even Eunkwang oppa is here." Chorong said pointing.

Changsub looked and sure enough he spotted Eunkwang at the front of the stage cheering embarrassingly. Eunkwang noticed them and waved them over.

"Oh dear god somebody stop him please."  Changsub grumbled to himself as he let Chorong pull him towards Eunkwang.

"Hey man!! You didn't tell me you were gonna be here I thought you were gonna be at the practice rooms." Eunkwang said to Changsub.

"I wasn't planning on being here." Changsub said grumpily.

"Aish loosen up Changsub-ah it'll be fun to watch." Eunkwang said slapping him on the back.

"Ooh I hope she wins!" He said to Chorong excitedly.

Suddenly, the sound of a megaphone came from the stage.

"Wassup everyone!! Welcome to day two of spirit week! Today is the spicy ramyeon eating contest. Who's ready to eat!!!!!"

The guy Changsub remembered as Peniel from the day before yelled into his megaphone enthusiastically as the students cheered.

"Alright looks like y'all are pretty hungry today. How about we start by introducing our contestants!"

Peniel gestured to the four contestants lined up on the stage and approached the first student.

"Here we have our freshman contestant. What's your name?"

"Jung Wooseok." Said an impossibly tall looking freshman.

"Cool cool, good luck man!" Peniel said reaching up to pat the kid on the shoulder.

"Okay, moving on to the sophomore contestant…" Peniel moved down the line to the next student. He took one look at who it was and gave an exasperated sigh.

"Yook Sungjae what are you doing here I SPECIFICALLY told you not to enter."

"Why not??" The guy named Sungjae said looking offended.

"After the you pulled at the last event?! No freaking way." Peniel crossed his arms.

"Aww that's not fair, I'm your best friend!" Sungjae protested.

Peniel gave Sungjae a skeptical look.

"You don't even like spicy food."

"Shh they don't need to know that." Sungjae said.

Peniel sighed.

"Fine whatever just…just don't do anything dumb okay?" He said.

Sungjae nodded vigorously and Peniel gave him one last warning look before turning back to his cue card.

"Where was I…oh yes, the junior representative. Please introduce yourself!" He held out the megaphone to Bomi who was looking fired up as ever.

"My name is Yoon Bomi and I'm here to take down all of you!" Bomi said glaring at the other contestants.

"Wooohoo that's my girl!" Eunkwang cheered making a large heart sign with his arms.

"Go Bbom-ah!!" Chorong yelled.

Bomi waved and sent them finger hearts as Changsub tried his hardest to look like he didn't know who they were.

"Ooh somebody is on fire today!" Peniel chuckled before continuing on to the last student.

"And last but not least the senior contestant Yoon Dujun from the soccer team!"

"Hello everyone!" The cool looking guy named Dujun saluted the crowd.

Several girls in the crowd cheered loudly.

 "We love you Dujun sunbae!!" They screamed.

Dujun gave the girls a signature wink causing them to swoon.

Once the cheering had settled, Peniel took up the megaphone again.

"Okay! The rules are simple. You will have 5 minutes to eat as many cups of ramyeon as you can!"

"I have a question!" Sungjae raised his hand.

"What." Peniel looked annoyed.

"Can we do 6 minutes?"

Peniel blinked for a second and decided to ignore Sungjae.

"As I was saying, you will have FIVE minutes to eat as many cups of ramyeon as you can. The winner will receive a 50,000 won gift certificate to the school café!"

Peniel held up a stopwatch.

"Alright, everybody ready? 3, 2, 1, GO!"

Wooseok, Bomi, and Dujun immediately attacked their noodles.

"Yoon Bomi! Yoon Bomi!"

Eunkwang cheered loudly along with Chorong as Bomi quickly cleared her first cup of ramyeon.

Meanwhile, Sungjae appeared to be taking his sweet time. He lazily sat back, kicked his feet up on the table and stirred his ramyeon around. A few seconds later he fished out a single noodle with his chopstick.

Peniel came up behind Sungjae. He was just about done with Sungjae's shenanigans.

"What the hell are you doing man? You think you're filming a commercial or something? This is an eating competition!"

Sungjae offered the noodle up to Peniel.

"Want some?" He said with a stupid grin on his face.

Peniel let out a frustrated sigh.

"You're disqualified." 

He snatched the ramyeon cup from Sungjae.

"Hey wait! Hyung! I'm not done yet I was going to eat exactly 6 noodles!"

Sungjae continued to protest as Peniel shooed him off the stage.

Changsub watched the chaotic scene unfolding with distaste.

"What a nutcase." He muttered.

Chorong nodded in agreement.

"Yeah he's pretty notorious for causing trouble in the acting department."

"He's in your department?" Changsub asked incredulously.

"Apparently."

"Unbelievable." Changsub said shaking his head.

Just then a pained yelp came from the freshman Wooseok.

"Ahh the sauce splashed in my eye!" He clutched his face.

"It burns! Milk! Milk! Somebody get the milk!"

Peniel rushed over with the milk looking worried.

"You okay dude?" He asked.

Wooseok didn't answer but instead took the cup of milk from Peniel and proceeded to pour it onto his swollen eye.

"Wait that isn't-…"

Peniel stood lost for words as Wooseok tried to wash out the spice from his eye with the milk. Some of the students in the crowd started laughing.

A moment later a couple of Wooseok's friends rushed up to help him off the stage and guided him away to the health room.

After watching them leave Peniel picked up the megaphone again.

"Well then…I guess that's two contestants down." Peniel said awkwardly.

By this point Dujun was starting to slow down. His face was red and his eyes were watering as he tried to finish another cup of noodles. Bomi too was looking a bit rough. Her bangs were sticking to her forehead but she still had a fiery determination in her eyes. 

"10 seconds left!" Peniel said.

"You got this Bomi!!" Chorong yelled as Bomi took another large mouthful of the spicy noodles.

Eunkwang was wringing his hands nervously as the timer ticked down.

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Okay hands up!"

Bomi slammed her empty ramyeon cup down looking triumphant.

"And we have a winner! Congratulations to Miss Yoon Bomi!" Peniel announced.

"Assa!!!" Bomi yelled.

"You did it Bomi-yaa!!!" Eunkwang ran up to the front of the stage with his arms extended.

Bomi rushed around the table and jumped off the stage into Eunkwang's outstretched arms. He swung her around laughing.

Chorong ran to hug them both while Changsub stayed behind and watched them celebrate.

As crazy as Bomi and Eunkwang both were he had to admit they did make a good couple. He was happy for them.

A/N  I have a confession I don't actually ship Eunkwang and Bomi LOL I think they're 100% just friends but it's kinda cute for this story. We also got some cube fam cameos! I originally had some different cameos in mind but turns out some of them can't eat spicy food so welp. Oh well if you haven't seen Wooseok actually pouring milk in his eyes where have you been? 

Anyways, Sungjae is a hot mess in this AU.
