The Gangster Who Loved Me - Chapter 10
The Gangster Who Loved MeIt was evening when Sungyeol walked by the stall, surprised to see Woohyun there busy trying to fix the broken stall. Woohyun was in a t-shirt which was now soaked in sweat. Sungyeol wondered how long the young man had been there.
For a passerby, he sure is dedicated, thought Sungyeol as he dialled his phone.
After making the call, Sungyeol walked over to where Woohyun was.
"How much are you getting paid for all this hard work?" Sungyeol teased.
Woohyun glanced back to see who it was before continuing to fix the stall. "I'm not doing this to get paid."
"Then why are you doing this?" Sungyeol asked with much curiosity.
Woohyun paused for a moment and lowered his eyes to the ground. "It's my fault that this happened," he admitted.
Sungyeol did not seem surprise by the response. "I figured as much," he said nonchalantly. "I guess you just wanted to help him, right?"
Woohyun did not respond. Instead, he ignored Sungyeol and continued to carry on with his work.
Woohyun was able to work for some time in peace until a voice called his name, disturbing him once again. He heaved out a sigh of frustration before glancing up to glare at the annoyance, only to be surprised when he saw who it was. He was expecting to see Sungyeol instead he saw Sunggyu standing there with his dark sunglasses and holding the walking stick in his hand. The glare quickly disappeared from his face as he dropped what he was doing and walked over to Sunggyu.
"Sunggyu, what are you doing here?" Woohyun asked full of concern.
Sunggyu smiled. "Sungyeol told me that you were here. You left in a rush earlier today so I didn't get a chance to say thank you. How about I treat you to dinner?"
"You don't have to do that," said Woohyun.
The expression on Sunggyu's face faltered upon hearing Woohyun's rejection. He lowered his head solemnly. "I understand," said Sunggyu. "It must be embarrassing to be with someone like me."
Woohyun's eyes widened upon hearing Sunggyu's heartbreaking words. "That's not what I meant," he said, trying to salvage the situation. "I'm doing all this because it's my fault so there's no need for you to thank me. You don't owe me anything."
"I'm relieved," said Sunggyu with a smile. "I thought you hated me."
"I could never hate you," said Woohyun softly.
Woohyun finally agreed to Sunggyu's dinner invitation which was a short walk up the street to one of the food stalls. It was so busy at that time of the night that someone walking towards them from the opposite direction bumped into Sunggyu.
"I'm so sorry," Sunggyu immediately apologised, assuming that it was his fault.
Woohyun stepped forward as if to shield Sunggyu from whatever trouble that was to come.
The person, a good looking man dressed in black looked at Woohyun then glanced at Sunggyu. He seemed surprised when he noticed the walking stick in Sunggyu's hand.
"Oh no, it's my fault," said the person, much to their surprise. "I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm sorry."
Both sides continued on their way until the person stopped and glanced back to look at the pair as they walked away.
"What are you looking at?" a voice asked.
He jolted back to reality upon hearing the voice. He turned around to see a man with spiked hair approaching him. "Nothing," he replied.
"Did you find him?" the spiky haired man asked.
"No."
