Running Scared

Tiffany & Timothy

Tiffany was fixated on the ground as she sat just outside of the busy mall food court in her new male form on a comfortable leather bench. A feeling of impending doom was looming over. Seohyun had called Jessica to come meet them, and Tiffany wasn't thrilled to see the girl that had broken her heart, especially in a guy's body.

While her partner was worrying, Seohyun was eagerly searching for the source of the unknown anxiety as she peered around at the sea of busy shoppers that had come in during the afternoon hours to do some browsing. Standing on her tippy toes from time-to-time, the sweet potato lover finally found the recognizable blonde hair and began to excitedly wave a woman over in their direction.

As if she was singing a sweet melody, she happily shouted, “Unnie! It’s nice to see you!”

Hearing this froze Tifany in place as she kept her head down. Skillfully she ignored all her surroundings so that she could properly process the wave of emotions that were now furiously whirling inside of her like a wild Ocean storm.

Tiffany wanted to talk to Jessica, but not as Timothy. So many questions were left unanswered yesterday afternoon and her heart was far from fully healed which made her wonder how emotionally stable she could be in her presence. Tiffany also feared a slip-of-the-tongue as Timothy might reveal her real identity or at least get her in some trouble. If it was going to happen with anyone, it would be with Jessica. One of the people that knew her best.

Analyzing all of this Tiffany deduced that it was far too soon for Timothy and Jessica to meet.

Getting up from her seat and keeping her eyes at a low level, she turned to Seohyun quickly created an excuse for Timothy's quick exit.

Clearing his throat, Timothy said aloud, “Hey I'm sorry, I’ve got to-" Before Timothy could finish his sentence, he was stopped dead in his tracks by an alluringly curvy bosom that appeared just by Seohyun's side, in range of his downward gaze.

Tiffany immediately knew that it was Jessica. She was wearing a low-cut pink top that showed off her 'assets'. Just below her was the word “LOVE” sprawled rather stylishly. Covering her legs were a a snug pair of jeans that accentuated her feminine figure and slender legs.

The recognizable feeling of attraction stirred inside of Tiffany and she realized that her attempt at avoiding Jessica had failed miserably. She cursed her new height which made her downward stare surprisingly high. That or the blonde was just really short. Tiffany never noticed it in her old body as they were nearly the same height.

"Hey Seohyun," said the new party member, as she opened her arms for a warm hug. Jessica's distinct and charming voice drew Tiffany's attention like a Siren on the shore, and she soon found herself subconsciously moving closer to the duo.

Onlookers must've thought the man crazy.

As usual Jessica was being her affectionate and touchy self. Tiffany watched as she patted Seohyun’s back with her right hand, slowly making her way down to the cute girl’s shapely bottom. She couldn't help but feel a little jealous.

“Unnieeee,” purred Seohyun lovingly. It seemed like the younger girl also enjoyed the affection. It made sense since they were both extremely close.

Freeing herself from the warm embrace, Jessica fixated her captivating dark brown eyes on Timothy who had now inched ever closer to them until he was only a couple of meters behind the pair. Jessica had noticed the guy eyeing them with interest and assumed that he was the attractive friend that Seohyun had been talking about on the phone.

The stare caused Timothy to look away.

Tiffany had to remember that she didn't know Jessica and if she stared at her for too long she might forget. Gathering confidence she remembered what had occurred last night and why she was in a male's body in the first place.

“Sorry Tiffany…I’m not into girls, I’m into boys…”

Tiffany wasn’t a girl now, she was Timothy, and the only reason she wished for this bizarre transformation was to have a shot at Jessica. This should be exactly what she wanted. But it wasn’t. Especially not this soon.

Her train of thought was interrupted by Seohyun who began to cutely poke Timothy’s muscular right shoulder.

Breaking free from her little trance the maknae had brought Tiffany back to reality. Unfortunately it was a bizarre one.

Timothy turned to stare at the sweet potato lover and the y blonde and tried his best to act natural. Realizing that he was slightly hunched, he made sure to straight his back and get into an appropriate posture. In the corner of his eye he noticed Jessica giving him a good look over. She was forming her first impression.

Tiffany hoped that it was a good one. For now the talkative and confident girl inside Timothy was at a loss for words.

Seeing this, Seohyun cleared and introduced the two of them like they were two kids on a play date. The girl would be an amazing mediator for the awkward couple.

“Timothy this is my unnie Jessica. Jessica this is Timothy. I think you guys will get along really well.”

Jessica edged closer toward Timothy and gave him a faintly visible smirk which would make any boy or girl swoon. The blonde had that effect on people. Fortunately the man prevented himself from drooling and grinned back. Neither one seemed like they really wanted to talk first.

Thankfully Tiffany realized that Timothy shouldn't be shy in front of the girl of her dreams.

Timothy politely started, “It’s nice to meet you Jessica.”

Tiffany wondered whether she should offer Timothy's hand for a friendly shake, but decided against it. Touching Jessica was the last thing she needed right now.

"Likewise," said Jessica who had some boyish tendencies herself as she nodded back at the big guy with confidence. From Tiffany’s perspective, she didn’t seem interested in her new male form but it was always hard to tell what was on Jessica’s mind.

Wanting to get out of this odd situation, Tiffany remembered her conversation with Seohyun earlier over lunch and was hopeful that there would be an immediate resolution.

“So Seohyun tells me that you guys have to get to class soon?” asked Timothy.

Taking a seat lazily on the bench that Timothy had just stood up from earlier, the attractive blonde replied, “No. Just Seohyun has to go. I was planning to sleep through her little lecture. We made plans for tonight and I didn’t want to stay at home waiting.”

“Couldn’t you just sleep at home” asked the young man inquisitively.

“I tend to sleep through almost anything, I need a person around to wake me up,” she replied with honesty.

Seohyun nodded her head confirming her confession, as she joined the blonde on the bench. Suddenly a bright idea popped inside the innocent girl’s mind as she looked at her two friends.

“Hey Timothy, maybe you and Jessica can hangout? She won't be as bored with someone to talk too."

Hearing "you and Jessica" in the same sentence caused Tiffany to panic.

Timothy blurted out, “NO thats a terrible idea!"

The pair of girls were surprised at his outburst and stared at the man with wide eyes. This caused the handsome guy to turn noticeably red all over his porecelain cheeks. It was a problem that must've had carried over from Tiffany.

Trying to save the situation, Timothy calmed himself down with a couple of deep breaths and said, “I mean we just met, it'd be so awkward...”

“Timothy over here is right Seohyun. I’ll be fine waiting with you,” she bitterly replied, offended by his spontaneous little eruption over being along with her.

Seohyun nodded and the trio sat there until the girl remembered that she had heard Timothy's voice before she embraced her unnie.

“What were you trying to say earlier?” she asked out of curiousity.

This was it. Tiffany had a choice to make. She could stay with the two of them as Timothy or she could leave them and go along with her original plan of action. For some strange reason, seeing Jessica now made her curious about various possibilities, one of which included wooing the gorgeous blonde in her new identity.

Inside her head, conflicting thoughts were clashing until one side became victorious. Tiffany was always a little too curious for her own good.

“I was just going to offer to walk you guys to campus,” replied Timothy, giving off a pleasant eye-smile to the two girls.

Tiffany noted that Jessica reacted to Timothy's eye-smile which was a good sign since the girl could normally be cold. However Jessica liked people with nice eye-smiles and Tiffany knew that.

“But Timothy, I swear you were apologizing. I heard you say sorry,” questioned Seohyun.

“Forget what you heard. I say sorry too much sometimes,” joked her new friend.

From there the trio headed back to the parking lot to Jessica's car as the lazy girl had driven to the mall despite it only being a short ways away from her apartment.

Walking past the shoppers, Tiffany stared at the mall directory and noticed the landmark on the map that she was supposed to visit, the wishing fountain. She realized that she would have to comeback another time if things didn’t work out.

As they reached the parking garage and inhaled the gassy fumes, Tiffany couldn’t help but notice that they were walking in the direction of her car, which was a Pink Mini-Cooper that was parked near the back. After passing more cars, she realized that Jessica had parked her white BMW 330i just beside it.

‘You’re kidding me,’ thought Tiffany.

“Sica, isn’t that Fany-unnie's car? I think that’s the same license plate,” said Seohyun sharply.

Much to Tiffany’s chagrin, the girl was keen enough to rival Sherlock Holmes.

Happy at the prospect of seeing another unnie she merrily asked, “If she’s around she might want to join us. Should I call her?”

Before Tiffany could let out a peep, Jessica had shut the bright eyed girl down with a cold and unenthusiastic answer. “Don’t bother her. If she wanted to hangout today she would message people. Besides I have a feeling that she doesn’t want to see us right now.”

Tiffany laughed at the word “us” inside Timothy’s head as Seohyun tilted her noggin in confusion.

Getting into the car, Seohyun sat in the front seat and reminded everyone to fasten their seat belts before driving off. Tiffany always did it instinctively when she rode in the Jessica's car, so it was only natural that she did the same as Timothy. Seohyun was glad to see them buckle up, especially Jessica, who at times, could be stubborn and uncontrollable.

Driving to the nearby college campus was a short trip with Jessica behind the wheel. The girl was the definition of aggressive driving, which caused Seohyun to panic as she weaved in-and-out of the hectic downtown traffic.

"Unnie! You shouldn't cut someone off like that!" she yelled, as the driver forced her way into the left most lane of the road, causing the car behind them to skid after smashing the brake pedal.

"Look, do you want to get a good seat in-class or not?" asked Jessica rather harshly, as she switched into another lane. The car behind them began to honk.

Seohyun continued to argue with her, which was cute in its own little way. However Jessica was clearly beginning to get agitated as her eyebrow twitched in frustration.

Being in the same car with the cute and tall first-year reminded Tiffany of how long it had been since she had last spent time with her. She was glad that Seohyun had thought of her when seeing the Mini-Cooper. It was a shame that she wasn’t sure if she’d ever become her old self again.

Finding a spot in a cramped campus parking lot, Jessica smoothly parked in one quick motion like a pro. Turning off the engine she turned to Timothy and asked for her parka and winter accessories which were scattered all over the backseat beside her new male acquaintance.

Handing her the jacket, Tiffany noticed that Jessica was still using the pink pair of fluffy Aritzia gloves that she gotten her last Christmas. It was surprising considering what had happened yesterday.

Timothy offered her the gloves which she snatched from his hands without hesitation, putting them on for warmth.

Seeing the girl use a gift that she had given her comforted Tiffany in an odd way. It was an indirect way of letting her know that Jessica still wanted the girl in her life.

The three of them walked through the cement pathways amid an oddly warm winter season that made thick jackets unnecessary.  Seohyun was responsibly dressed to avoid the possibility of catching a cold. Jessica also donned some layers as she liked to stay warm and toasty. Unfortunately Tiffany didn't have the opportunity to buy Timothy a winter coat, but was far from freezing out in the abnormally mild weather.

While walking, Tiffany realized that she should be building a relationship between Jessica and Timothy like she did with Seohyun. It was a glorious opportunity and it’d be fun to be more aggressive and manly.

“So…how long have you and Seohyun known each other for?” asked Timothy to the two girls, breaking the silence with his low and husky voice.

Seohyun kept quiet, realizing the intent that Timothy had.

“Since we were kids. I remember when Seohyun used to fit on my lap! Fast forward to the future and now she’s this giant girl that always nags and tells me how I should live my life. We have an amazing relationship,” replied Jessica sarcastically.

Tiffany knew that Jessica was easily irritated by Seohyun, but she was also aware of Jessica’s kind and warm heart. The innocent girl didn’t seem offended either. Apparently it was common knowledge among close friends that she had a caring heart.

Tiffany kept the ball rolling, determined to get Jessica familiar with her male alter-ego.

“We’re both the same age I think. 19 right?” asked Timothy.

Jessica nodded at him, “Yup, how’d you know?”

Timothy continued, “Well Seohyun keeps calling you unnie, and I think I’ve seen you in a class before.”

It was true. Tiffany and Jessica were in the same second-year Marketing class but this tidbit of information seemed to surprise Jessica.

"Oh? Is that so?" she replied.

Timothy responded casually, “Yeah, marketing with Professor Crawford.”

The blonde seemed to have found a flaw in Timothy’s tale as she said, “The class isn’t that big, I would’ve remembered someone like you.”

Tiffany realized that she had been caught. She cursed Timothy’s height for the second time today.

Using logic, Timothy answered, “Well, I skip class sometimes. I can get by just fine with the textbook. Professor Crawford never really teaches us anything outside the course material anyways.”

Timothy's little confession shocked Seohyun who was not a fan of such ‘dangerous’ behaviour.

“That’s not good Timothy! You shouldn’t skip class!” she lectured, which immediately made Tiffany feel guilty for her little tale. The innocent girl had that effect on people.

Timothy spoke again, this time making his intention obvious. "Since we're the same age, we should be friends."

Jessica absorbed his little suggestion and nodded her head rather lackadaisically.

Tiffany assumed that it was a yes.

Finally they arrived at the eastern wing of the campus and entered the old European style building, making their way past the brick walls until they reached the entrance of Seohyun’s lecture.

Before Jessica took another step further she had a change of heart and turned to face Timothy.

“Hey Tim do you have anything important to do right now?” she asked with a cheeky smile.

“Not particularly” replied Timothy.

Tiffany noticed that Jessica had just called her Tim without asking so it seemed that she did feel a little closer to him now.

“Seohyun, I think I’ll hang out with Tim like you suggested. I need to study for the marketing exam that’s coming up.”

The maknae looked a little too happy seeing her two friends worry about their academics as she had a wide and motherly smile. She nodded and shoved them away so that they knew that they were not wanted.

Making their way back to the entrance of the Eastern Wing, Timothy asked “Where should we go to study?”

Tiffany was curious where she would want to go with her new identity, Timothy.

She watched as Jessica calculated the possible destinations in her head. After toying with a strand of her long locks she finally said, “How about to my apartment? I left my marketing notes and textbook there anyways and it doesn’t look like you brought your stuff with you.”

Tiffany froze in place and gulped at the thought of the two of them studying in her fancy apartment alone. She knew that Jessica wasn’t a but she couldn’t help but think of all the possibilities in her new body.

Suddenly, she was reminded of the event earlier in the morning when she had poked her new 'package', remembering how sensitive it was to touch. She imagined for a brief second what it would be like if Jessica…she got her mind out of the gutter and brought herself back to the moment at hand.

Timothy answered, “Sure, I don’t see why not, but are you comfortable with me coming over? I mean we barely know each other.”

Jessica reassured him. "It's fine, if Seohyun says your harmless than you probably are, and like you said we should be friends. Last time I checked it was okay for friends to hangout right?"

Timothy nodded.

In her head Tiffany now laughed at how she had tried to avoid the girl earlier and now here she was heading to her apartment alone. It was odd how things could turn out.

Tiffany also felt a bit guilty for taking advantage of her new appearance to get a fresh start with Jessica. She wondered if it was ethical to do something like this. Either way she found herself following the blonde back to her car.

Continuing with the small talk, Timothy noticed a distant herd of students walking towards the two of them. A class must`ve  finished. One girl in particular caught his eye.

She was walking confidently and stood out from the crowd because of her tall and full body. Squinting to get a better view, Tiffany realized who it was.

Yuri.

In her head she panicked, and thought ‘Oh …’

If Yuri saw Timothy here with Jessica she wouldn't buy the “I’m Tiffany’s brother” story if she him again in the apartment.

After all, it didn’t make sense that an overprotective brother would be out and about with a girl when his sister was ill. Even if that girl happened to be Jessica Jung. Realizing that Yuri had noticed the pair in the distance, Tiffany turned a full 180 and bolted from the scene as fast as Timothy's powerful legs could take her.

Jessica heard his sudden movement and gawked as the boy stormed off, running scared in the opposite direction. Yuri saw the peculiar sight and caught up to Jessica to see what all the fuss was about.

“What’d you do to that guy?” asked the taller, raven-haired girl.

The blonde shrugged in confusion. “Some men are just totally weird.”

Yuri remembered how her roommate had reacted to Jessica's rejection last night and thought it was a good time to have a chat with her.  “We should talk Sica.”

Jessica eyed Yuri and raised an eyebrow curiously. “About?”

“About someone important to both of us, do you have time?” responded Yuri with a serious tone.

Jessica nodded, aware that her schedule had just freed up.

The comment below me described my thoughts perfectly. I had to sift through my subs trying to find this story because I thought I accidentally unsubscribed and almost panicked. I'm glad I found it. This and 'Pink Slip' were always two of my favorites.

I'm falling in love with the story! It's very descriptive and I get to see the bits of feelings of different characters towards each others. I'm most impressed how you could write Tiffany's personality in between fictional and reality. It's balanced and she's clearly logical about her every moves.

Oh just wondering if Fany/Tim will have multiple pairings in this story? It'd be nice if she had. Also a with Yulti, Seofany, Taeny and Jeti would probably make me happy, if there are and it wouldn't just a foursome huh keke.

Goodluck author-nim and update soon!
