Prenup

Trust, Let's Trust.

Jongin walks into the living room, making his way to the kitchen to grab some beer. He grabs extra cans for the fiancee, before walking back into the living room where Heeyoung has made herself comfortable on the armchair.

"Give me your email, so I can share the doc." She says with her eyes on her laptop.

"Here." Jongin hands her a can, taking a seat and looking over her.

"Thanks."

"Anything acquired before the wedding will remain to the individual, including property, shares and the likes." Heeyoung states,

"Agree."

"We should open a joint account to maintain the house. We'll contribute equally, hence the account will be both of our shared responsibility." She says,

"I don't have an issue taking care of the house." Jongin offers,

Heeyoung sharply glances at the male, "It's a joint account for a reason. If I need help, I'll come to you, fiance."

Jongin shrugs.

"As I was saying, at least one joint account. Personal accounts will be kept private, and we're not close enough to be discussing salaries." She says,

"Okay." He thinks over it and asks, "I can spend my money as I wish?"

Heeyoung gives him a exasperated look, "That's the whole point of you mind your own business and I'll mind mine." She throws his words back at him, "We're not obligated to inform each other about our personal spending, other than the joint account."

A few minutes later, Heeyoung surprises him by asking, "Do you have a partner?"

"Excuse me?" He raises his eyebrows at the sudden question.

"A girlfriend, lover or something along those lines. We might still be able to find a way out of this wedding."

"You don't have to worry about that." He says, pausing and looking at her face, "Do you?"

"I wouldn't be here if I did, now would I?" She scoffs,

"Moving on to assets obtained after the wedding. Inheritances should remain with the intended benefactor. For purchases and gifts given to us as a couple, we can either split it evenly or we can discuss amongst ourselves on who gets what." Heeyoung says, while Jongin mumbles his agreement.

"As for this apartment, because it's a gift from our parents with both our names on the title deed, we could sell it back and split the money between us."

"We haven't even been here three days and you're thinking of selling this place off." Jongin teases, though the look his fiancee sends him, wipes the smirk of his face.

"Kids. If that was to ever happen, you won't have to worry about it, I'll take full responsibility." She says. Moving on to the next topic without waiting for his response.

"Excuse me." Jongin grits,

Heeyoung frowns, confused at the angry look on his face.

"Why would you take full responsibility for our children? They're also my children." Jongin states, keeping his calm though he's raging on the inside. How lowly does she think of him?

"Okay. Split custody." She mutters, changing the last bit,

"Adultery?" She mumbles to herself before looking over at Jongin, "Do we want to add a clause regarding that?" She asks him,

"Are you going to cheat on me?" He asks her,

"Does it matter if I cheat or not? This is strictly business." She retorts, causing Jongin to groan at his own stupidness,

"I'm-"

"We've discussed enough for tonight. Let's talk tomorrow. Goodnight." Heeyoung bids.

Heeyoung is cleaning in the kitchen, while Jongin is cleaning the dining table when the doorbell rings,

"I'll get it." Jongin heads for the door.

"Jong." A yell sounds through the entryway,

What are you doing here?" Jongin asks, confusing Heeyoung as she's still finishing up the dishes,

"I'm here for the prenup. The elders want them done soon, I'm working overtime because of you." Someone whines,

"And you?" Jongin asks, Heeyoung frowns, glancing in their direction,

"Who is it?" She mumbles to herself, washing her hands and heading to greet the guests,

"Why are you here?" She frowns at Baekhyun,

"Dad asked me to be here with you." Baekhyun informs them, the tall pair missing the angry look on Heeyoung's face before she fakes a smile,

"You're our lawyer?" Heeyoung slowly asks, glancing between Sehun and Jongin,

"Yes, ma'am. The two of you should be grateful for getting the handsomest lawyer at the firm." He teases, nudging his best friend.

"Let's get started." Sehun clears his throat, dramatically putting on a pair of fake thick-rimmed glasses,

"We've already discussed a few points." Heeyoung says, handing over her laptop to Sehun with the document pulled up.

Sehun and Baekhyun look impressed reading over it, occasionally eyeing the couple,

Sehun whistles, "This can't be Jongin's work, I don't think he knows what half these words mean." He teases,

"Some of my friends graduated from law school. I learned a few things from them after helping them with their homework." She grins,

"Lucky, none of my friends even offered help." Sehun whines at his friends. Baekhyun rolls his eyes and Jongin glares at him,

"I didn't ask you to attend university abroad. Not only were you in a different country, but a completely different time zone." Jongin answers him,

"I'm only teasing Jong." He lightly punches Jongin, "I'd like to individually discuss with both of you before we agree to a final draft."

Sehun smiles reading over the document, "This has made my job much easier."

"I like this one, Neither party is obligated to reveal their complete list of premarital assets." Sehun chimes, commenting on the other clauses before pausing to look over at his friend,

"Were these suggested by Heeyoung?" Sehun asks, unable to believe Heeyoung would create such a disadvantaged contract.

"I'm surprised, myself." Jongin says,

"I'm not trying to judge, but BE isn't KJC. For Heeyoung to waive her right to alimony, it sounds too good to be true." Sehun comments, while Jongin looks over the document with a different view,

"Could this have to do with what I said?" Jongin mumbles, but Sehun hears him,

"What?"

"Well..." Jongin narrates the events of the engagement night,

"You're truly an idiot, Jong." Sehun groans, not believing the CEO could be that stupid.

"I had to do it. The whole night, I couldn't take my eyes off of her, and then I kissed her in front of everyone. I had to draw a clear line before she took advantage of me." Jongin explains, though Sehun is slightly disappointed, he understands where his friend is coming from. Jongin has always known to attract women who cling to him only because of his family or looks, no one has really tried to get to know him, which could be why Jongin found himself attracted to Jihyun.

"You took Jihyun's anger out on Heeyoung." Sehun states,

"I. Can we, please, get this over with? You still need to talk to her." Jongin says, redirecting the conversation to the prenup.

Sehun gives him a long look, letting him know they'll talk about it later.

"This one, about children, is tricky. Since the courts decide custody based on different factors, having it on a prenup is useless." Sehun informs him,

"She wants full custody if it ever happens. Can you believe her, she thinks I'm the kind of person who's willing to let my children be taken away." Jongin fumes, while Sehun rubs his head at the upcoming headache, as he knows Jongin is going to demand something unreasonable.

"Kim Jongin." Sehun starts, but the elder ignores him,

"I want a clause making it so, I earn full custody of the children." There it is, Sehun thinks, glaring at his idiotic best friend. client.

"Jongin, think it over, carefully." Sehun advices,

"I have." Jongin smirks, looking forward to Heeyoung's reaction.

"I'm going to have to discuss this with Heeyoung, but when she gets angry, you're going to be the one suffering." Sehun warns, but the other waves him off.

"Would you like something to drink?" Heeyoung asks, looking over at Baekhyun awkwardly standing over at the threshold of the entryway.

"Soda if you have it." Baekhyun smiles, as Heeyoung tilts her head towards the living room, asking him to make himself comfortable,

"Any specific preference?" Heeyoung asks, looking through their drinks fridge,

"Nope."

Heeyoung hands him a bright blue can, taking a seat beside him. Surprising the two, as Heeyoung has never made an effort towards Baekhyun, while Baekhyun assumes Heeyoung hates him.

The atmosphere between the two is somewhat awkward as they haven't had a chance to talk between the two of them alone, even though they work in the same company, Baekhyun hadn't even seen his sister until a few months back.

"How is everything going with Jongin? Is he treating you well?" Baekhyun starts,

"Does he need to treat me well?" Heeyoung sounds genuinely curious, even if her expression fails to give away her feelings,

"As your fiance and soon to-be husband, he needs to be." Baekhyun states,

"This is a strictly business relationship." Heeyoung reminds him, surprised at the angry look on her brother's face,

"The alliance between the companies is business, not your marriage. Your marriage needs to be real." Baekhyun says,

"Why? Isn't this better? When we get divorced, it would save you the trouble of having to choose between family and friends." Heeyoung asks,

"If you're planning on getting divorced after the alliance, I would rather you not get married at all. Marriage isn't something you should be taking lightly." Baekhyun says,

"I know marriage shouldn't be taken lightly, but what to do, I've failed to see my own father set a good example for me." Heeyoung taunts, causing Baekhyun to freeze.

"Heeyoung."

"I'm not the one who needs to be taught the importance of marriage, talk to your friend." She scoffs,

"I just, if you end up in an unhappy marriage, I wouldn't know how to explain it to hyung." Baekhyun softly says, though his words only anger Heeyoung more,

"Why would you need to explain it to him? He doesn't deserve anything after he left me." Heeyoung fumes,

"Don't say that. You don't know why he-"

"I don't want to know." She cuts him off, thankfully they hear the study room door open, causing the conversation to end with a pin drop silence.

"For a second, I thought the house was empty." Sehun jokes, but sensing the tense aura around the siblings, he quickly asks Heeyoung to follow after him.

"Are you 100% sure about this?" Sehun looks incredulous, while Heeyoung blankly stares at him,

"Do you mean, am I 100% sure about not wanting a portion of CEO Kim's assets?" Heeyoung stuns the lawyer, he looks sheepish, trying to defend himself.

"Can you blame me? You're one of the rare few not trying to take advantage, even though you can. And I'm having difficulties debating whether you're stupid or just righteous." The lawyer tells her, resulting in a small chuckle from the female,

"I understand what you're trying to say, but to answer your question. I'm neither stupid nor am I r-ri-righteous. The concept of what's mine is yours can't be applied to him and I. I'm being cautious and drawing a clear line between us now. Also many of our assets are passed down from our elders or gifts and to try and claim possession over someone else's rights, doesn't sit well with me." Heeyoung shrugs.

Sehun gapes at the woman, carelessly seated on the couch, with a newfound admiration. He switches to a more casual tone, as requested by the female herself, and begins going over the rest of the agreement.

The tranquility, however, is shattered when Sehun mentions the clause Jongin was adamant on adding. Heeyoung scoffs, reading over the words full custody and father several times before pushing the laptop away and storming out of the study. Sehun has no choice but to follow after her. Can you blame him, he loves drama.

"Are you treating my sister well?" Baekhyun asks, hearing the study door shut close.

"Of course. She's my fiance, why wouldn't I be treating her well?" Jongin lies, not in mood for an argument with the older male,

"So, you're really going to give this marriage a chance?" Baekhyun asks,

"Of course, I'm sure Heeyong's already told you." Jongin says, thinking Heeyoung might have lied to her brother about the true nature of their marriage.

"Heeyoung told me something different." Baekhyun sighs, looking over at his friend, while Jongin pauses with the remote in his hand,

"What did she say?" Jongin asks,

"That this is strictly business. Does this mean, you're not going to be taking this seriously? Kim Jongin, I'm not going to have my sister suffer an unhappy marriage." Baekhyun warns,

"She really is something." Jongin scoffs to himself, turning back to the T.V., "I might have let my anger get the better of me when Heeyoung and I first talked. She really holds grudges."

"What do you mean?"

"I told her not to have expectations from this sorry excu-" Jongin trails off hearing the study door slam shut along with Sehun's loud voice asking Heeyoung to calm down as the lady storms into the living room,

"Heeyoung." Baekhyun calls out, but he's ignored as she has her attention on her fiance, who seems to almost regret his decision, almost.

"What the fu*king hell, CEO Kim?" She yells, standing in front of Jongin,

"Yes?" Jongin pretends to play dumb,

"Why go behind my back?"

"Behind. I didn't ask Sehun to hide it from you. In fact I asked him discuss it with you, before adding it to the agreement." Jongin mockingly states,

"It's not getting on the final copy, unless primary custody goes to me." Heeyoung states,

"Why is that? They'll be just as much my children as yours." Jongin retorts,

"You expect me to believe you would properly care for them?" Heeyoung scoffs,

"What kind of person do you take me for?" Jongin fumes, "Do you think I'm the kind of person to abandon my family or something?"

Heeyoung snorts, "You said it yourself."

"Byun Heeyoung." Jongin yells,

"Do not raise your voice at me." Heeyoung states,

"Why not? I can't even raise my voice, while you can accuse me of being an abandoner." Jongin remarks,

"I'm doing both of us a favor. I know how men like you are." Heeyoung snarls, Jongin steps into her space, while Sehun and Baekhyun watch on.

"How dare you make assumptions without even knowing me?" Jongin asks,

"I know your type, CEO Kim. Your reputation far precedes you. You only care for yourself, not giving a damn about who gets left behind."

"You don't know me, Byun Heeyoung."

"I've seen enough to understand you're just like Mr.Byu-"

"HEEYOUNG." Baekhyun startles everyone in the room,

Heeyoung is the first to regain her senses, pushing past Jongin and grabbing her phone and keys.

"Heeyoung." Baekhyun calls after her, but she's already run out. He sighs, glancing between the two tall males, looking at him for an explanation.

"You should hear it from Heeyoung first, I'll tell you my side of the story after." Baekhyun tells Jongin,

"Hyung." Sehun calls, but Baekhyun shakes his head, grabbing his keys.

"I'll see you guys later. Just let me know when Heeyoung gets back, please." Baekhyun asks, before walking out.
