The gentle summer wind ruffled the shutters of her windows as she got ready for bed. With only a towel wrapped around her petite, lithe body, she stopped to glance at herself in the antique mirror. Two pale red scars that stretched the length of her back stood out against her milky white skin. Two permanent reminders of her mistakes, her past life, and what could've been.

Sighing to herself, she donned her dark blue dress-pyjamas and hopped into bed. Just as she was about to drift off, an earsplitting screech sounded throughout the creaky house.

"BAE CHERIE, GET DOWN HERE NOW! YOU HAVE A LETTER AND IF YOU DON'T COME TO OPEN IT, I WILL!"

She cracked a small smile. Suzy, her adoptive sister, was always like this. They were like cat and dog, grasshopper and ant, lion and mouse, whatever else you could think of. But they still loved each other in their own twisted ways.

"Yah, you have no right to open my property Suzy-ah. What if its like a bomb or something? Then you'd be in trouble." Cherie came down the staircase and flicked Suzy's forehead.

"Someone would send a bomb to you, you troublemaker." Suzy rubbed the part of her forehead that was hit. "And the letter seems kind of fishy. The envelope is really yellow and icky."

Cherie raised and eyebrow and took the letter from Suzy. "Huh, theres no return address either. That's funny."

Carefully prying off the red seal reading SEA, she gingerly took the piece of old parchment out of the envelope. Cherie read it out loud for Suzy to hear too.

Dear Ms. Bae Cherie,

We are pleased to inform you that we have recieved your application to Star Empire Academy, sent by fairy-carrier, and have reviewed it thoroughly. We would also like to extend our congratulations to you because you have been chosen to be a student at Star Empire Academy.

Due to the overwhelming response to our opening our admissions to the general supernatural public, we recieved a great number of applications. You have been chosen because we know you have what it takes to prosper at SEA.

We await your presence on the first day of school. Keep in mind, the past can only come back to haunt you if you want it that way. The past is over and gone, and the future is guaranteed only for those who strive for it. And only the strong will survive.
