Sungmin had seen red threads ever since he could remember. Thin pieces of almost invisible string that glinted ruby red in the sunlight and almost seemed to glow in the darkness of the night. They were tied around every person’s pinky making a neat little bow right in between the person’s two joints. The thread then hung off their fingers, never getting caught on anything, before trailing to the ground and fading into nothingness.

So when Sungmin met Kyuhyun, he was surprised because no ruby red string was tied around his finger, no piece of thread hanging from his hand. He even asked to see Kyuhyun’s hand close up just in case the string was extremely thin. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t find a thread connected to him.

The whole idea was strange, because the only person without a red thread attached to their pinky was Sungmin himself.
