“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”

―Dr. Seuss

-two months later-

"Here are the files, Kwon boss."

Jiyong glared at Chaerin with the shaking rage of a rabid Chihuahua but the latter just smirked amusedly.

"Dara's not even working here anymore so quit it," he muttered under his breath as he looked over the documents. When he received no response, he looked up to see his secretary shrug before walking out the door.

"In the building or not, Dara unnie will still be here." She suddenly pointed at him and when he shot her a confused look, she grumbled and pointed at the ring on his finger. "It's because of that," she paused. "And the fact that you won't stop whining about her not working here anymore."

A wry expression appeared on his face and he gave her the finger but she already closed the door behind her before she could see it.

Truth be told, Jiyong felt absolutely bored out of his mind at his desk. At least he had Dara back then, but now it was just his stupid job. He frowned.

Since Dara has left the company, the executives made the decision to permanently put Jiyong back on his previous position. He thought that the move was careless and biased because he was the child of the founders but in the end, he couldn't care less. What ever put food on the table, he shrugged. But in this case, what ever would put food in his wife's mouth.

Looking through his glass windows, he sighed to himself when he felt the familiar restlessness invade him once more. Maybe he really was addicted to Dara because he couldn't help but fidget around \without her by his side. Sometimes he'd find himself reaching out for her, only to realize that she wasn't there. It made him grunt like a possessive and primitive caveman but whatever, he just wanted his wife!

He huffed like an impatient child before sighing and going back to his work. Jiyong was so focused that he hadn't realized that it was already time for his lunch break. It took him an hour before he realized that he almost missed his break when the door suddenly opened.

He was about to bark at Chaerin for not knocking but then he saw his grinning wife with bags of containers in her hands.

"Surprise~!" She said, trying to do a goofy dance with her feet as she entered.

After a moment of shock, Jiyong let out an incredulous chuckle and an amused head shake. Quickly, he rushed over to take her bags and the act made him feel a sense of familiarity. When he looked through the bags and found lunchboxes, a helpless, love-worn smile appeared on his lips as he remembered that same day she did this.

Her arms sneaked to his waist as she gave her husband a back hug. "I made all of those by myself." He could almost imagine the pout on her face as she said it and he turned around to catch her erasing the pout that he'd just imagined.

She opened , wanting to say more, but Jiyong took it as a chance to take her lips against his in a sweet caress. His warm hands cupped her jaw, his fingers softly massaging her nape.

Dara moaned against his tongue and tried to remove herself from him when she deduced that the solid thing that was starting to poke against her abdomen wasn't his phone. Suddenly chuckling amidst the kiss, she tapped his cheek and he broke away with a grunt.

His eyes were hooded and dazed when he said, "I'm suddenly hungry for something else." He bent his head and was about to kiss her neck when she put her palm over his face and roughly pushed him away.

"Christ, Jiyong. You're like going through puberty again."

He glared, "I didn't get much action thanks to a certain someone."

She raised a brow. "Now it's my fault?"

"It's because you were too dense." Now it was his turn to pout.

"I didn't even know you like me back then! How would I know that you wanted to get with me?"

"I was good at hiding boners back then."

Dara groaned, "Gross," but she was laughing. "C'mon and eat. I started this as soon as you left the house this morning. It took me a long time so you better appreciate it."

"I do." He kissed her knuckles and sat down, pulling her to sit on his lap. He kissed her cheek and smiled boyishly, "I love you."

Jiyong lived for the moments when she blushed and she did so as she whispered a bashful 'I love you' back. A few moments later, Dara started unpacking all the lunches. Jiyong wanted to help but she'd slapped his hand when he tried, saying that he should rest and leave her to her wifely duties. He never loved this woman more than he did now. It was like he kept falling deeper for her everyday with the little things that she always does.

"It's a good thing Chaerin said that you haven't had your break yet or else this would all be for nothing."

He moved her hair to her left shoulder and kissed her nape. "I'd still eat it regardless." he said.

She suddenly stopped and looked back at him with skeptical eyes. "Why are you so sweet today?"

"I'm sweet everyday," he scoffed. "You just don't notice it."

"I do notice it. I just don't acknowledge it so that you'll try even more to make me see it."

"Yah, what a witch you are."

She giggled and kissed his nose. "Just start eating... and make sure you finish it all."

Jiyong started eating with much gusto while Dara moved out of his lap and watched him closely. He made sure to make contented sounds as he took every bite but it seems like she realized that he was exaggerating because she suddenly hit his arm.

Somehow, despite his happiness of having his wife here with him, the melancholy from before started creeping towards him once again.

He remembered the hopeful and desperate look on Dara's face as he took every bite, and idiot that he was, he always winced at the taste. As much as he tried to forget it, he had always remembered the hurt look on her face when he didn't appreciate her food. But the thing that pained his heart the most, was her expression when he refused her proposal.

"Hey," She smoothened a hand on his back, "You alright there, bud?"

"Yeah," his voice was hoarse and when he turned to her, Dara was surprised (and slightly disturbed) that he was welling up with tears. "I-It's just so ing good, Dara."

"Aww baby." She caught him in a hug as he released his quiet tears.

Dara remembered from his stories that she once prepared him a lunch, much like this, in an attempt of proposing to him but he'd declined. Jiyong recounted the unreadable look on her face, saying that he wished he could take back what he said and just confessed that he loved her but he was too much of a coward to own it.

And now, as she watched how her husband stuff his face with food while crying and mumbling that it was 'so ing delicious', Dara couldn't help the sad smile appear on her face. All she could do then was hold him close and eat along with him.

When he reached the soy sauce-marinated crab, her breath hitched with anticipation. It was his favorite dish and she added something extra to sweeten the deal. She watched as he took a big spoonful of crab and she gasped when he shoved it in his mouth.

"What's wrong with you?" It came out garbled because of his chipmunk cheeks. Dara didn't respond. She only stared at him.

Jiyong shrugged at his wife's weird behavior and kept eating. He knew that she was a little sensitive with her cooking so he just enjoyed it. Minutes passed and the crab was slowly disappearing. Much to his confusion, Dara's face paled and her eyes looked panicked. He stopped.

"What's going on—"

"YAH!!!!" She shot up and started shaking his shoulders. "Did you eat it??!"

He blinked. "Eat what?"

Dara covered her face, but before he could remove her hands, his wife suddenly turned into a ball of rage. "I put something there and you were supposed to feel it when you took a bite! God ing dammit, Jiyong!!!"

He furrowed his brows. "Are you proposing to me again, babe? I don't know if you noticed but we're already married—"

"I PUT IN A ING NOTE IN THE CRAB! IT WAS IN A LITTLE CYLINDER CONTAINER THAT WAS LIKE THE SIZE OF A TIC-TAC!!!!!!"

"Okay...?"

"AND YOU ATE IT?!"

Jiyong gulped. He felt what he thought was a bone earlier but didn't pay it any mind because it might make her conscious of her lack of skills. "Uhmmm..."

"Did you?"

He ate it.

When Dara saw the guilty look on his face, she threw her hands up in defeat and sulked back in her seat. Jiyong frowned, soothing her back awkwardly. It's not his fault he didn't know that there was something else on there!

"What can I do?" He cooed.

She snorted wryly, "Poop out my note?"

"Can you give me a few hours?"

Dara punched his chest scornfully and he winced. She sighed once more and when she put her hands on her face, Jiyong's guilt rose ten-fold.

"What was in the note, Dara?" He asked softly.

"It was supposed to be a surprise," she whispered.

"Can't you just tell me here?"

"It'll ruin everything."

"It won't."

"It will."

"Dara..." He held her shoulders so that she could face him. "Everything will be okay so go ahead."

But then, Dara shot up and hurried toward the door but Jiyong was quick enough to catch her. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to his chest, his arm circling around her waist to lock her in place.

"Dara," he pleaded. "Tell me what's wrong or I'm gonna go out of my mind. I'm really ing sorry about the note. I'll do anything, please. I don't want you to leave like this."

Much to his further anxiety, his wife started sobbing. She began to slip down in his arms but he followed after, both now sitting on the ground with him comforting her.

"I'm sorry," she sniffed, clutching his suit. "I'm just too emotional."

"It's alright, baby. Are you having your period? You want some chocolate? Medicine? I could get Chaerin to get you some—"

"I haven't had my period in a month, Jiyong."

He stilled.

Burying her face in his chest, she muttered, "I'm pregnant."

"W-What?"

She laughed, tears spilling against her cheeks as she cupped his face and kissed him softly.

"We're pregnant—"

The next thing she knew, she was being hoisted up. He hasn't said anything yet but the look of pure bliss on his face and the fact that she was bouncing her exicitedly was more than enough.

"Oh my god! Oh my ing god!"

He cradled her head against his shoulder then. His body was trembling with adrenaline and he couldn't help but tighten the hug. She tightened it as well as she whispered to him how much they were wishing for this and how great of a father he was going to be.

Unconsciously, his hand darted to her still flat-stomach, feeling for the life they'd made. Dara noticed the look of wonder on his face. She brushed her thumb over his cheek, making him look at her with that same wonder.

"I'm going to be a dad," he smiled, resting his head against hers. "When did you know?"

"At first, I didn't pay it any attention because my period's never had an exact schedule... but after a few more days, I got a pregnancy test and it came out positive," she explained. "I kinda didn't believe it so I made an appointment with a doctor—"

"Yesterday?"

She nodded. "Yeah, and I didn't want you to come because if it was true, I wanted to do something special."

He kissed her neck, chuckling against her skin. "And I guess I ate that something special?"

"If I didn't know you were such a glutton, I would've told you that there was something in the crab," she sneered. Dara prepared herself for his bantering jab but he just looked at her like it was his first time seeing her. The tender expression on his face made her feel cherished and she rested her head against his chest, hearing the fast beating of his heart.

"I love you, Kwon Jiyong."

He buried his face against the crook of her neck and whispered the same word—the same promise.

But deep inside he knew that this was it.

 -four months in the pregnancy-

"Dara! Oh my god, what the are you doing?!"

She blinked and furrowed her brows in confusion. Meanwhile, Jiyong was still a raging mess. Dara wondered if he was the pregnant one in their relationship.

"GET YOUR DOWN THERE NOW!!!" He practically screeched.

Dara was standing on a chair beside an overhead covered. She was craving for some chips and she knew she had them in there but then Hitler himself appeared and started barking at her.

"DARA!!!"

"Jesus Christ, can't you just let me get my damn food in peace???"

Her husband was directly below her. If he wanted her down so bad then he could've

Chapter 36: Spoilers ahead! Sorry I just had to vouce this out. I admit that the there are times when I had to read back to previous paragraphs just to know I got what's going on. I like the concept of (Ji and Dara of different lifetimes) meeting in his dream. Also meeting his past life in his dream. And the concept where Ji and Dara's past lives were shown, gods and godesses, past lives and dreams. But I'm kind of still left with the questions - did he really end up dying fast forward in 2018 or will it now change since he admitted his feelings earlier (2017, present)? Anyways, good job again author-nim! ?? more like this please!
