CHAPTER 23: Stupid mistake

As Minhyun returned to the karaoke room from toilet, Dongho and Namjoo was still singing with Daniel and Daehwi as the back dancers, while Minki was busy with his phone, and Jonghyun chatting with Hanna as they sat side by side. Minhyun approached them and gave something to Hanna as he sat next to her.

"What's this?" asked Hanna as she held the leaflet.

"I found that at the display in the corridor." answered Minhyun. "There will be a singing competition held by JTBC. Why don't you try to apply for it?"

"JTBC?" Hanna and Jonghyun was quite surprise because it is one of famous TV broadcasts.

Minhyun explained more. "You just need to send your video of singing and the selected participant will sing on stage."

"Woah, it's quite big scale Hanna. You will be on screen." Jonghyun was excited.

But Hanna felt unsure, she asked as she read the information in the leaflet. "When will be the deadline?"

"This Saturday." Minhyun answered fast. "You still have the time."

"Okay, I'll think about it." Hanna folded the leaflet and put it inside her sling bag. She turned her head at Minhyun and said, "Thanks."

The next day, Dobong dong kids did their routines to school as usual. But before the class started, Teacher Lee made an announcement. "I'll give you a form to be filled."

Sungwoon, without being asked, helped Teacher Lee to distribute the forms.

Teacher Lee continued, "It's a career planning form. The questions in the form will help you to describe what you are interested in, your dream, what are your core competencies and to what direction you want to develop in your careers."

Hanna received her forms and took a brief look.

"Please thinking about it carefully and you can also discussing it with other people. Ah! There will be a counseling session with psychologist, but the time hasn't yet decided. I'll announce it later when I get the fix schedule."

"Yes, saem.."

"Ah! I almost forget to tell you that we'll start the night class next Monday."

With that, the students were sighing in harmony.

Ah, even now school already feels so long, why should I have to stay here till night? Hanna grumbled.

Dobong-dong kids and friends gathered at cafeteria for lunch as usual.

Daehwi started the conversation with asking, "Have you guys filled the form?"

"Not yet, still not sure what will I do in the future." Minki replied before he put the spoonful of chicken curry into his mouth.

Daehwi turned to look at Jonghyun and asked, "What about you, Mr. Top student?"

"Me?" Jonghyun was quite surprise with the way Daehwi call him.

"Yes, of course you, hyung. Who else got the 1st rank for two consecutive years?"

Jonghyun tilted his head, feeling a bit uncomfortable with the way Daehwi called him, but then he answered, "Since I want to be a doctor. I started to add my credit points by joining Olympiad in biology subject. And my current target is getting into SNU, Medical department in specific."

The others were fascinated by Jonghyun's answer. Daehwi even commented, "Woah, that will only be a dream for me."

"Yes, a dream that can be achieved." Jonghyun assured Daehwi.

But Daehwi directly objected, "No, it's too high for me." He then turned to look at the others.  "What about the other?"

Everyone was silent.

Dongho couldn't help but to think about Kendo. His dream is to be a successful Kendo Player. But he realized he couldn't make it real because he already promised his dad he will quit Kendo.

Hanna was also thinking about her dream to be a singer, somehow she doubt herself. Last night she stared at the JTBC leaflet for a long time just to consider her decision to join it or not.

The impatient Daehwi asked again, "Ya, why nobody answer my question?"

"We haven't figure it out, Daehwi ya.. It's rather difficult." Minhyun replied softly.

And the other were nodding in agreement.

Hanna sat alone in the school park, with the career planning form in her hand. She was thinking how to fill it. She wasn't sure what future career she really want to pursue.

Then she took out the folded JTBC leaflet from her purse and looked at it.

I do want to be a singer, but is it really feasible?

I mean what kind of singer will I be? A solo singer? Idol? Musical? Or just a cafe singer?

Aaah what would mom and dad respond if I tell them I want to pursue singing as my career?

Don't forget about Aaron oppa. He must be teasing me non-stop.

Hanna covered her face in frustration.  Somehow she envied Jonghyun, how he has a specific dream and how he really understand every steps to achieve his goal by knowing his personal strength and making targets. Slowly but sure, Hanna believe Jonghyun could achieve his targets and moved forward to another steps, getting closer to his dream.

But what about me? Being a singer, really? Hanna chuckled.

As Hanna wanted to go back to her class, she coincidentally saw Minhyun sat with Jonghyun at another side of the school park.

Hanna naturally approached them, but then she stopped when she looked at Jonghyun massaging his temple as he said, "It is a difficult choice. If I choose night class then I should stop working, but if I choose working I should skip the night class, that means I could probably left behind since other students even have a private class after the night class." He looked at the sky as he heaved a sigh. "Where I can find a job that let me work after the night class?"

Minhyun directly snapped him. "Ya, don't ever think to overwork yourself again."

Jonghyun turned to look at Minhyun as he smiled. "Araseo.."

The fact that Jonghyun was still smiling despite his problem ached Minhyun's heart. "Can you just stop working?"

"You know that I can't do that." Jonghyun responded fast.

Minhyun sighed. "Then just skip the night class. I'll lend you my notes. I promise you I will write down every words teacher said."

Jonghyun smiled brightly as he slung his arm on Minhyun's. "I know I can depend on you. How can I live without you, Nyeon?"

Minhyun chuckled.

Hanna was already in her room, sitting behind her desk, thinking about what Jonghyun said at the break time.

She was kind of feeling ashamed.

"I envy Jonghyun for having his dream without even realizing that he also has his own problem."

A problem that she didn't imagine could be a problem. Hanna thought everyone in the class except Jonghyun might be happy if they have a chance to skip the night class. But for Jonghyun, the night class is important, it's one of the tools he need to get his dream. Just like a runner, this night class is like the shoes, it will be harder to run without it.

"He already face many hurdles to reach his goal. But what am I doing right now? Still haven't decide how to fill this form? And what to do with this leaflet? I'm not even ready in the starting line. I don't even think that I need the shoes to run. What exactly my dream is? Aaah what's wrong with me?"

At the same time, Aaron barged in to Hanna's room. "You're wrong in all aspects, Hanna."

Hanna turned and snapped her oppa. "Don't you have hands to knock before getting inside my room?!"

Actually Aaron wanted to reply his sister rant but his attention moved to the leaflet on his sister's desk. "What's this?"

"Yaa! Give it back to me!" Hanna tried to snatch the leaflet from Aaron's hand, but he could avoided it.

"Girl's spirit? JTBC singing competition?" Aaron looked surprise. He turned to see Hanna. "Do you want to apply in this competition?"

This time, Hanna successfully snatched the leaflet from Aaron's grab. But it was t
