Chapter 01

The Takeout Girl

“Ye Jin! Can you get this order please?” shouted a slightly overweight, middle aged man wearing an apron as he fried a wok full of noodles. A young girl rushed up to him, grabbing the food. “No problem uncle.” She said cheerily as she skimmed over the address. “I’ll be back soon!” She said as she headed outside and loaded up the old moped outside. She clipped on her helmet and sped off down the street.

She pulled the piece of paper with the address out of her pocket and double checked it against the address she had put on her map app on her phone. “No way.” she whispered as she looked up at the building in front of her, a small smile making its way on to her face. The words “Big Hit Entertainment” standing out on the busy street. She smiled and parked the moped, hanging the helmet over the mirror, taking a minute to fix her hair and clothes.

She grabbed the food and headed up to the entrance. A bored looking receptionist called her over. “Name?” She asked, pen poised to jot it down in the visitor’s book. “Jeon Ye Jin, I’m from Sun Restaurant.” The receptionist took in her appearance with a sneer. Ye Jin felt a blush work its way onto her face. She was wearing a simple pair of jeans and an oversized sweatshirt, her hair plaited. She didn’t see the point in dressing up to sweat over a hot stove in the kitchen of the restaurant. But she couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious as she took in the receptionists perfectly manicured hands and perfectly styled hair.

“Down the hall, take a left, down the stairs and you’ll see a set of double doors at the end of the hallway. Make sure you don’t just barge in.” She said as if giving instructions to a naughty toddler. Ye Jin thanked her through gritted teeth as she followed the woman’s directions. “What a .” She mumbled as she carefully made her way down the stairs. She stopped outside of the doorway as she was told and knocked loudly, the box she was carrying beginning to feel like a ton weight in her hands from all the food it contained. Her jaw almost dropped when none other than Park Jimin opened the door, smiling brightly at her. He looked at her expectantly and she held up the box. “Food. Your food.” She said, trying to force herself to speak in full sentences.

“Ah!” he exclaimed. “Come in!” he said as he held the door open for her. “We were expecting old man Kim.” He said as he led her over to the six other members of BTS who were fighting over space and who was sitting next to who. “He’s busy in the kitchen, so he asked me to deliver the food.” She said, proud of herself for being able to form a complete sentence. She knelt down and opened the large delivery box, bringing out the dishes one by one, barely having a chance to put them down before one of the boys claimed it. She closed the box and Jimin handed her the money for the food. She thanked him and stood up, “Just leave the dishes outside, I’ll swing by and pick them up later.” The boys yelled their agreement and their thanks to her as they started stuffing their faces with food.

She rushed out of the door, feeling self-conscious. She couldn’t believe that she had just met BTS. She made a mental note to thank her Uncle Kim the second she arrived back at the restaurant.

“The delivery girl was cute wasn’t she?” Jimin asked the others as he glanced at the doorway. Taehyung chuckled. “She’s definitely your type.” He said. “Yeah, she's shorter than you.” Jungkook teased making the older man blush and kick his thigh. “Shut up.” He mumbled as he started eating his jajangmyeon.

When she arrived back at the restaurant, the lunch time rush had already started to die down. “Uncle!” she shouted as she headed into the kitchen, jumping onto the counter beside him. He shook his head and chuckled at her antics. “You’ll never believe what just happened!” she said excitedly, unable to hide her smile. “I just met the members of BTS!” she said with a happy squeal, her legs swinging back and forth. He chuckled at her. “They're very nice boys. They stop by here quite often.” He said as he continued chopping up the vegetables he needed. Her jaw dropped at his words. “You mean they’ve been coming here to eat and you’ve never told me? Uncle! I’m hurt!” she said dramatically as she grabbed her chest.

He only chuckled at her and nudged her off of the counter. “Do you think I want you in here fangirling over them when they're trying to eat?” he teased. “They're good customers. They're all polite and they all eat like horses!” he said with a loud laugh. She chuckled before heading back out to the restaurant floor to help the other part timer, Jackson, serve the customers and clean up. After the final customers had left and she had finished cleaning up the main section of the restaurant, her uncle reminded her to go pick up the dishes of the places she had delivered to while Jackson stayed back to clean the restaurant. He started to whine about not being allowed to deliver until Mr Kim reminded him that he was the reason why there was a massive dent in the front of the moped. Ye Jin chuckled as the door closed behind her.

She pulled the receipts out of her pocket, making sure that the one for the Big Hit building was there. She quickly picked up all of the dishes, her hands beginning to sweat with nerves as she approached the Big Hit building. Her uncle had told her that they would leave the plates by the back door for her to collect. She wandered around to the back of the building and found the back door, but the plates were nowhere to be found. She frowned and started to head back towards the front door when the door behind her swung open. She turned around, once again coming face to face with Jimin. He smiled apologetically at her. “Sorry! We started practice again right after eating and we forgot to bring the plates down.”

She smiled at him as she took the plates from him. “It’s alright.” She said giving him a smile. She couldn’t believe how good looking he was in real life. She knew that most idols wore makeup, but as far as she could tell, he was currently barefaced and he looked completely breath-taking. “Are you new to old man Kim’s restaurant?” he asked, bringing her attention back to reality and not the flawlessness of his skin. “Y-yeah.” She stuttered. “I haven’t been there long, but I’ve known uncle Kim all my life.” He nodded and hummed in understanding. “Well, we order from his restaurant a lot, you’ll probably be seeing us a lot.” He said brightly. She couldn’t help but smile back, the thought of getting to see him and the other members on a regular basis making her inner fangirl extremely happy. “Looking forward to it.” She said as she gave him an awkward wave because of her full hands as she started heading back towards her moped.

She was almost around the corner when she heard him call after her. “What’s your name?” she turned and gave him smile. “Ye Jin.” She said before hurrying around the corner before he saw the massive grin on her face. Jimin stood in the doorway, watching the corner where she had just disappeared. “Ye Jin.” He said, liking the way her name sounded. “I hope we’ll meet again soon.” He said as he headed back into the building.
