Dear Taehyung oppa,

I’m writing to tell you the truth about everything before I leave you for good. I don’t know what Mina has been telling you, but I was not the one who started the bullying. In fact, I was the one who stopped it.

Mina is the one behind all of this. She started bullying you, and when I asked her to stop, she said she would if I stayed away from you. So I did. That’s why I seemed so distant.

For a while, she kept her promise. She stopped bullying you. But then, she caused you to fall and almost break your nose. So I went to her again and asked her to stop. She said that she would only do it if I pretended that you touched me inappropriately.

Now that you know the truth, I hope you won’t hate me and you understand why I did what I did. I’m really sorry for doing it to you. I’m sorry for hurting you. But I had no choice.

I’m moving away to somewhere else. I guess we won’t see each other again, since you’ve graduated and we won’t be neighbours anymore. I hope you’ll always be happy, and that you’ll have a good life.

The words flash through Taehyung’s mind repeatedly as he runs with all his effort, to Hyekyung’s house.

When he reaches her doorstep, he punches the doorbell non-stop until the door opens with a click. It’s not Hyekyung though.

“Hello ahjumma!”

“Oh, it’s you. You brought Hyekyung back home once, didn’t you?”

“Yes, ahjumma. Is she at home? Can I see her?”

Hyekyung’s mother shakes her head. “She’s at work right now. I don’t think she’ll be back for another two hours.”

Taehyung bows his head hastily. “Thank you ahjumma. I have to go now, bye!”

And with that, he takes off running again.

Hyekyung wipes the sweat off her brow as she carries a serving tray of drinks to a nearby table. She flashes a coy smile at the customers as she sets the tray down onto the table.
