Chapter 49
Rain On MeAuthor’s Point of View
Yoonsan stepped out of the studio when his phone rang. It was Eunjung’s specific ringtone but he was confused as to why she was calling.
“Jagiya, is everything okay?”
“Yoonsan, it’s Joy. Rani told me to call you. I don’t know what’s going on but she just told me to tell you to come to the mall quickly and to use the west entrance.” Yoonsan was confused as to why Joy was using Eunjung’s phone.
“Joy, where’s Eunjung? Is she okay?”
“I don’t know. She isn’t talking and has been crying nonstop. I don’t know what to do and I’m freaking out a little so get your here quick.”
“Okay, Joy, put the phone on speaker and I’ll stay on the phone until I get there.” Joy agreed and did as she was told. Yoonsan went back into the studio to grad his coat and to let his friend know that he had to leave.
“Jagi, jagi talk to me. Are you okay? What’s going on?” Yoonsan only heard Eunjung’s sobs and Joy trying to comfort her. As he drove to the mall, he could hear sirens in the background, causing him to worry more.
“Eunjung, what’s going on?! Joy, what’s happening? Why do I hear sirens?”
“Police and S.W.A.T cars pulled up. I don’t know why but I think Rani and Angie have something to do with it.” Joy explained.
“Where are they?”
“I don’t know. They ran after some people. I think they’re the reason Eunjung is acting like this but I have no ing idea what’s going on.”
Yoonsan got to the mall and went to the side that Joy had told him to go to. He saw the police cars and some S.W.A.T cars blocking the entrance, making it hard for him to park close. He found a close enough space and sprinted to the entrance once he was parked, not worrying about parking correct or even locking the car.
“Sir, you can’t-“
“My wife is over there.” Yoonsan shoved past the cop and hurried to where Joy and Eunjung was sitting. Joy kept an arm around Eunjung who looked to be sobbing, Joy talking to who he assumed was a police officer.
“Eunjung.” Eunjung looked up at the sound of Yoonsan’s voice, springing up and running to him. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and sobbed in his chest. Yoonsan held her just as tight, whispering words of comfort.
“I saw her with him. They know each other. She’s here and she’s going to ruin everything.” Eunjung sobbed out.
“Who’s here, Eunjung?”
“Colette. She’s here with Keith. She followed us.” Yoonsan stiffened at the name and instantly looked around, making sure she wasn’t anywhere near. Like hell he’d let her or Keith near Eunjung. Over his dead body.
Rani and Angie stood still as their boss scolded them.
“Boss, we didn’t harm anyone.” Angie smiled, hoping it would cause their boss to not be as angry.
“I have a woman on her way to the hospital.” Their boss informed.
“Not my fault the old hag didn’t move when I told her to move. Either she moved on her own or I pushed her.” Rani explained.
“Rani, you’re not helping our case.” Angie whispered.
“And you lost the culprit.” Angie and Rani groaned.
“Shoot me in the foot why don’t you? I’m already pissed at myself for losing them. It’s not easy being short.” Angie grumbled.
“Enough. We’ll look at the security video and then face match. If it’s her, then be happy you’re a step closer to closing this case. Now, go and check on your friend. I’m sure she’s shaken up. We also need to quicken the process on that restraining order so her and her husband are safe.” Rani and Angie nodded, thanking their boss before going to where Joy, Eunjung, and Yoonsan were. When Yoonsan saw them coming, he handed Eunjung to Joy before meeting them halfway.
“What the hell is going on?” Yoonsan growled. He usually wouldn’t talk to them like this—Rani scared him too much—but he was pissed.
“Hey, watch your-“
“No, I won’t watch anything. Eunjung is scared out of her mind and you two left her alone.” Yoonsan spat out.
“We didn’t leave her alone, we left her with Joy.” Angie clarified, earning a hit from Rani on her arm.
“Look, it was either we stay with Eunjung or we go after them and put them behind bars for good.” Rani calmly said.
“But they’re not behind bars now, are they?”
“, it’s taking me a lot to not punch you right now.” Rani said through clenched teeth. Angie decided to intervene before anything happened.
“Okay, emotions are running high right now so let’s all just take a step back. Yoonsan, go and take Eunjung home. I’ll call you guys later to discuss everything once she’s fine. Rani, let’s go and see about getting access to the camera footage for boss.” Angie pulled Rani away, leaving Yoonsan to go back to where Eunjung was. Yoonsan took Eunjung from Joy, thanking her before assuring her that Eunjung will be fine. He then took Eunjung to his car and helped her get in.
The ride home was quiet, Yoonsan not wanting to force Eunjung to talk. She did reach over with her good hand and made him hold her hand. The grip though was tighter than usual but Yoonsan knew Eunjung was terrified so he didn’t tell her how he was losing feeling in his hand.
“It’s not their fault, you know.” Eunjung quietly said when they got to their apartment, Mushu greeting them happily but his mood became somber when he noticed how Yoonsan and Eunjung were.
“What?” Yoonsan wasn’t too sure what Eunjung was talking about.
“Rani and Angie, they were just doing their job. If they could’ve stayed with me, they would’ve but they needed to go and get Colette and Keith.” Yoonsan sighed before pulling Eunjung into a hug.
“I know. I shouldn’t of gotten angry at them. I was just scared. Something could’ve happened to you and I wouldn’t have been there.” Yoonsan rested his chin on top of Eunjung’s head. Mushu sat by their feet, wanting love too. Eunjung reached her good hand down to scratch the top of Mushu’s head while keeping her other arm wrapped around Yoonsan.
“You should call and apologize later.” Eunjung suggested. Yoonsan nodded his head, knowing his wife was right. Later, Eunjung went to bed, feeling drained from the day and Mushu followed. Mushu was keen on being by Eunjung’s side ever since the incident with Keith. Yoonsan went to the spare bedroom that was turned into a guest bedroom/study. Yoonsan used it as a home studio while Eunjung used the room to study. Yoonsan needed to finish the song he was working on earlier and didn’t want to leave Eunjung home by herself.
Eunjung’s Point of View
I woke up to the sound of Mushu growling. I groaned and rolled over so my back was to wherever Mushu was and pulled the blanket over my head.
“Mushu, quiet.” I grumbled out. Mushu continued to growl but then ended up barking. I sat up, giving up on going to sleep but noticed that it was pretty late. Or at least it was dark out, for all I know, it could be seven something.
“Mushu, what are you-“ I cut myself off when Mushu growled at me. He has never shown any form of aggressiveness towards me so I didn’t know what to do.
“Mushu, what’s-“ I moved to get off the bed again when Mushu barked at me this time.
“Yah, Mushu!” Yoonsan came into the room and looked as if he was about to scold Mushu when Mushu went to Yoonsan and pulled him by his hoodie sleeve to the window where he had been originally. He only let go to snap at me when I tried to move off the bed to go look out the window.
Yoonsan moved the thick curtains back—he demanded we got thick curtains for the bedroom so the sunlight didn’t wake us up on our days off—and looked out the window. Mushu jumped onto the bed and sat in front of me, almost like he was trying to keep me from getting off the bed. I saw Yoonsan stiffen when he looked out the window.
“Babe, what’s wrong?”
“Eunjung, go get my phone and call Rani.”
“Babe-“
“Eunjung, go and get my phone.” Yoonsan’s sounded stern which surprised me. I did as he said though with Mushu at my heels, almost like he was herding me out of the room.
I found Yoonsan’s phone on the kitchen counter and put in his passcode. I went to his contacts and found Rani’s name, clicking the green phone icon to call her.
“, I swear to Shisus if you’re not going to apologize, I’m hanging up.”
“Rani, it’s me. Yoonsan told me to call you but he won’t tell me why.” I then went on to explain Mushu’s behavior and Yoonsan’s behavior before going back to the bedroom to hand the phone to Yoonsan.
“Rani…no, no, I know…Rani, let me…I’m sorry, okay, I was wrong to…no, please don’t hit me, I’m beginning to bruise easily…Noona, please!...You know what, forget it! I didn’t call for this! You and Angie or someone needs to come, now…” Yoonsan was silent for a while before covering his phone and looking back at me.
“Jagi, why don’t you go and see what’s there for dinner?” I furrowed my eyebrows.
“San, what is going on?” I was getting tired of this, seriously.
“Eunjung, please, just go and-“ “, she’s a big girl, just say what it is and let her see it.” Yoonsan still seemed hesitant so I just pushed him out of the way, pulling the curtain back and froze.
“, what is it?” I heard Rani’s voice from the phone but I couldn’t move.
Outside of our window was a sign that read “I always get what I want. C'est bon de te revoir!” I felt a tug on the bottom of my shirt and then felt my arm get pulled before Yoonsan was hugging me close with one arm and pulling the curtin back in place so the window was covered.
“They’re sending people over, jagi. We’ll be okay.” Yoonsan assured me as he moved me into the living room, sitting my on the couch but nothing could reassure me right now. Colette knows where we live and she won’t be stopped.
