The Moon

The door softly closed and the room returned to its elegant silence. Silvery light poured through the window and drowned the room with its glow, the white blankets now shimmering along with the celestial bodies. Clothes were scattered over the floor interrupted now and then by stacks of textbooks and papers.
The figure in the bed seemed unprepared for the strength of her fatigue. Sitting upright against the headboard she was still fully dressed, slumped over a notebook with pencil in hand, and the textbook next to her was sliding off the bed. Artificial light conquered one half of the room, the small lamp standing guard over the young woman as she succumbed to the weight of sleep.
Wheein had seen this sight many times before. Sleep never came easily for either of them though the reasons for it differed. For Wheein it was just another night of escaping her dreams, another night where it was just her alone with her thoughts and her sleeping roomate. For Moonbyul it was the end of semester, yet another project worth ninety percent of her grade that needed to be perfect.
Wheein moved closer, threading her way through the mess to the side of the bed. Gently she closed the textbook, saving the page just in case Moonbyul needed it tomorrow. Her roommate did not stir. Not when the textbook was removed, not when her notebook was put away, and not when Wheein decided to climb into bed with her.
Moonbyul folded in Wheein's arms. Her head gently came to rest underneath Wheein's chin and her arms wrapped around the smaller girl's body. Both settled more comfortably into the others arms, warmth enveloping them both underneath the blankets.
Moonbyul would wake the next day feeling oddly refreshed, though left wondering why Wheein was in bed with her before shrugging it off and continuing to study.
Wheein would lie in bed with her, snug next to the older girl's body as she finally got some sleep.
