Did I just hear it right?

What does she mean by leaving this place?

It can’t be true.

“Kim Taehyung!” I quickly turn around, and beam a smile as soon as I see Jiyoon walking towards me. But I still couldn’t erase what I heard just now.

“You’re late. As always.” I say as soon as she stands in front of me.

“Told you to not wait for me. Where’s Jihyo? Has she left already?” I shrug, pretending to not know anything.

“Don’t mind her. Now let’s go get ice cream!” I grab Jiyoon’s shoulder and push her gently, and walk exiting the school.

“But Jih-“

“She already has her own companion. I don’t think she needs us anymore. Well… she never did to be honest.”

“But Taehyung..” Jiyoon stops and looks into my eyes.

“I… I heard.. something.” I stare into her eyes, waiting for her to continue.

“I heard something weird. Like, she and the new guy, Jungkook, need to leave this place.” I gasp but manage to hide my expression.

“What did that mean, Taehyung? Are they in danger? Shouldn’t we help them, Taehyung?” I fake a smile, seeing her worried face.

“No. when they say they need to leave, they might be hinting that they want to go somewhere private. Just the two of them so that they can date. Just like us!” I grab her hand and smile brightly.

“I’m not your girlfriend.” She frowns and shakes her head, leaving me. I sigh as I watch her walking away.

Thank goodness Jiyoon doesn’t ask further.

“Yah Jiyoon-ah! Wait for me!”

It’s almost midnight but she still doesn’t appear. It’s been almost 2 hours I waited for Jihyo. I texted her to meet at the cliff where I thought she wanted to kill herself.

The place where she suddenly disappeared.

She didn’t reply to my text but I am certain that she read it. I keep kicking the pebbles and blow my breath to my hand. The weather is extremely cold today that I can’t even feel my hand and lips. As I was looking towards the sea, I hear footsteps walking towards me. I quickly turn around and can’t help but to smile, as the face I have been waiting to see finally come.

“I thought you won’t come. You didn’t even reply my text.” I say as I run slightly to her and give her a smile. She has her head lower down and she doesn’t say a word. Even though her head is lowered down, I can see that her face is pale through the light from the bright moon.

“Jihyo? What’s wrong?” I lean in, trying to scan her face but she pushes me, making me to move backward.

“What do you want?” She looks away. She doesn’t even bother to look at me.

It makes me feel so…..

Sad.

“Why are you ignoring me? Do you hate me that much, Jihyo?” she stays silent.

“I thought of you as my best friend. That was why I always talked to you. Even about Jiyoon.” Again, she stays silent.

“I even told you about this place. Jiyoon knew about my past but I never bring her here. It’s only you.” She suddenly looks into my eyes, but quickly looks away. Through the seconds that our eyes locked, I see her eyes are teary.

“Why are you doing this to me, Song Jihyo?”

“Why are you doing this to me, Kim Taehyung?” she stares into my eyes, and her tears fall.

“Ji….hyo.”

“You’re killing me, Taehyung.” I then hear her sob. And to be honest, I am shock. I have never seen her cry in times I’ve known her. it makes my heart hurt to see her hurting this bad.

Is it all because of me?

But why?

“Jihyo.. You can always tell me.” I approach her, and wipe her tears away with my thumb gently. I’m afraid that if I touch her any rougher, it will easily breaks her heart. She shakes her head and pushes away my hand.

“You. You did this to me.” I stare into her eyes, confused.

“What did I exactly do, Jihyo? I…. I’m sorry. I… don’t know.” I feel guilty for not knowing that I have hurt a friend that I treasure a lot. She then chuckles bitterly.

“I’m leaving.” I was stunned for a while as I watch her walking away but I quickly grab her wrist, and turn her around to face me.

“For god sake Jihyo! Tell me what’s wrong! I want to help you! Let me help you!” I never meant to yell but I did. She smirks, which makes me taken aback. She wipes her tears away
