Unlikely Fairytale

After their so called fight, Jungkook and Yerim began to give each other the silent treatment, there was no contact whatsoever. There was a day where Jungkook spotted Yerim walking back home. He noticed the slight droop of her shoulders and the glance she gave towards Jungkook's house and he was about to go out and call out to her. However, remembering that it was what he did that made her seem so down, Jungkook started feeling guilty. Moreover, instead of manning up and apologizing to the girl, Jungkook felt guilt taking over him.

Days passed on as usual, Yerim was doing her usual routine. She was glad that she was busy that week, her mind was able to be distracted from the problem she had with Jungkook. As she passed by Jungkook's house every day from school, she couldn't help but wanting to come up and speak to him. However, how can she explain so without actually confessing how she felt for the boy.

Yerim then took a deep breath and went back to focusing on her task at hand. The graduation ceremony was coming up and she still had a lot on her plate.

The week rolled around faster than they thought. Before they knew it, the graduation ceremony was about to be held.

The school was filled with more people as most parents had come to see their children graduating. The underclassmen were divided to be in charge of certain tasks. Some were placed as ushers around the school to help guide the people around. Some were asked to perform, and some were asked to help with the grand event planned out at the end of the ceremony.

Jungkook came with both his parents and also his brother. They had arrived barely on time that Jungkook wasn't even able to stop and talk to his fellow peers before getting dragged to the hall where the ceremony was held.

After being ushered to his seat, he greeted his fellow classmates and started chating with a couple of them. Before the ceremony started, Jungkook couldn't help but to look around the big hall trying to spot the girl he's been missing for a couple of days. He knew that she was probably asked to help around but just couldn't spot her anywhere.

"Looking for something?" The person next to him, Yugyeom, asked. "Or someone?" He smiled teasingly. Jungkook just rolled his eyes at his friend's antics when a voice from the speaker said that the ceremony was about to start.

Yerim was ready at her spot for the surprise event. Many students were seated at the top floor of the hall to execute the event after the ceremony. Yerim couldn't help but look for Jungkook's familiar figure among the graduates.

She had bumped into his family right before going up to her seat. They were also about to head to the family members' area when they spotted the girl. They were able to talk for a bit before the families were asked to quickly go find a seat and Yerim was called by her friend to head upstairs. They bid a quick farewell before Yerim promised to go and meet them after the ceremony.

Yerim was able to spot Jungkook while the Principle gave out the usual graduation speech. Her attention was on Jungkook and how he was quietly talking to his friend. The ceremony continued on until they began to call up the names to receive their ceritificate.

Yerim clapped along when each student were given the certificate. However, she couldn't help but clap a little louder and grinning widely when Jungkook came up on stage as well as getting his award for contributing a lot to the school's soccer team. She was happy to see him and she couldn't help but notice his wandering eyes that seemed to stop when he looked at her direction.

It could have been her own imagination but it seemed as if Jungkook and her made eye contact and he seemed glad when it happened. However he was quickly told to head back to his seat as other students began piling behind him.

Yerim let out a sigh as he looked at Jungkook's figure heading back to his seat. She was nervous as well with what she was planning after the ceremony.

Jungkook couldn't shake off the familiar figure he saw as he stood on stage. He was positive that it wasn't his brain making up faces, he really did spotted Yerim sitting at the upper level of the hall.

Even when he got back to his seat he kept looking up towards the upper level to spot Yerim. When he spotted her, Yerim seemed to be in her own world. He smiled at the image as it really was what Yerim would usually do, being stuck in her own world and coming up with many scenarios. He then began to sit properly and paid attention to the rest of the ceremony.

The ceremony felt like it lasted for ages when all Jungkook wanted to do was to approach his best friend. When the Principle finally began his closing remarks, Jungkook was already feeling fidgety. His legs kept on bouncing which was becoming rather annoying to Yugyeom that he had to ask Jungkook to stop.

When they were about to close the ceremony, the graduates were surprised to see confettis falling from above. There were even paper flowers being tossed from the upper level. They were all so absorbed by the surprise event that as soon as the Principle said her last congratulations, the students were already standing up from their seats.

Some were busy finding their close friends. Some were still amazed by the confettis floating down and some were even trying to catch the paper flowers from above. Jungkook looked over to the upper floor, trying to remember Yerim's spot when she saw her tossing paper flowers with a joyful look.

As though she could sense eyes on her, Yerim tried looking around when she saw Jungkook already looking at her. He gave her a smile which Yerim returned. She then mouthed 'congratulations' which Jungkook was luckily able to interpret and replied with a thumbs up.

Jungkook then mouthed something along 'meet me later' to her which she wasn't able to make sure as the boy was soon tackled by his close friends.

After the ceremony ended, the graduates were asked to step outside where they can take pictures and talk with others freely and also enjoy some refreshments that were prepared. The underclassmen were asked to help clean up the hall a bit before they were let off by the teachers.

Before beginning her search, Yerim quickly grab a paper bag she brought from home. Outside was an ocean full of people. Each time she turned, Yerim would just bump into someone. She had wanted to go look for Jungkook straight away but was called by Chan to congratulate their seniors from the drama club.

After giving each seniors their bouquet, tons of pictures and hugs later Yerim was finally free from the drama club's seniors clutches. She began trekking away and looking around for Jungkook or even one of the Jeons but with no luck. She began wandering around aimlessly in hopes to coincidentally bump into him. She then decided to check her phone and see if there were any notifications when she bumped into a figure.

Both figures quickly apologized before they glanced to see who they bumped into. Yerim's eyes widened when she saw it was Jaehyun and so did the latter's.

"I'm sorry again, I wasn't paying attention." Yerim apologized again, which Jaehyun laughed at while dismissing it.

"No, that's okay. It's so crowded it'd be amazing if you don't bump into anyone." He said. "I'm actually glad we bumped into each other." Yerim was confused at his statement.

"Well you see it's going to be my last day here in this school," he began. "So I might as well ask you."

Yerim didn't say anything and listened carefully to what Jaehyun was saying.

"Remember when I asked you if you'd like for us to hang out sometime?" Jaehyun began. "You rejected because we don't know each other well enough." Yerim nodded slowly, not knowing where the boy is going with the conversation.

"Well what I'm trying to say is, what if we try and get to know each other better?" The boy finally asked. Yerim was still a bit confused as she furrowed her eyebrows.

"Um, well what I'm trying to say is that I'm quite attracted to you." Jaehyun finally explained, a blush had made it to his face. "I'd really like to get to know you better and possibly, uh, date you."

Yerim was stunned at his confession. It also seemed that embarrasment was contagious as she began to feel embarrased as well when she saw Jaehyun being flustered. There seemed to be a moment where she was left speechless and wasn't able to think of a response. She then came back to her senses and formed a respond.

"I-I'm thankful for the confession but I have to reject the offer." Yerim said carefully, not wanting to cause harm. "I, you see I already have someone in mind, I'm sorry."

She looked down as she gave out her timid reply. There was a pause before Yerim heard a big sigh. She looked up to find that Jaehyun looked much more relaxed.

"Wow, it felt good to finally say that out." He began with a rub on his chest before giving her a reassuring smile. "That's alright Yerim, I just wanted to finally say it to you and not regret it later on."

"I sort of figured you'd reject me anyways seeing that there's always that knight in shining armorof yours ." He said with a hint of teasing. Yerim could feel her face beginning to heat up at the elder's words.

Jungkook was ready to go and meet Yerim as soon as they were let out of the ceremony. However, before he could even take two steps he was already dragged by his close friends. After being let off by his friends, his classmates came next and asked for a class photo and whatnots. Lastly, he was surrounded by his soccer team. All of the underclassmen gave each seniors a bouquet and they chatted for a while.

After finally being let off, Jungkook came to his parents who were mingling with other families. He politely greeted the other parents before asking his family whether they've seen Yerim or not. They mentioned how they've only seen her before the ceremony started and he then excused himself to go look for her.

Jungkook began wandering around trying to spot the small girl in the midst of the people. It was by coincidence that he spotted the girl and he was elated. What he wasn't quite happy about was to find that she wasn't alone.

Jungkook noticed the other person to be Jaehyun, the guy he overheard was interested in Yerim. He observed the two from afar, he saw that Jaehyun had said something which clearly made Yerim flustered and had made Jaehyun laugh. He then saw Jaehyun speaking again before leaving.

Jungkook felt a bit unsettled by their interaction but kept himself in check. The whole purpose of finding Yerim was to make things right with her and he didn't want to ruin it. Jungkook then called out her name. Yerim jumped a bit and turned at his voice, Jungkook could see the blush adorning her face. He was curious with what they were talking about but decided to just take things slowly.

"Hey." He said when he reached her. He mentally knocked himself on the head for such an awkward greeting. However, Jungkook did notice that Yerim straightened up herself as he spoke before muttering a shy greeting back.

Both began to fall into silence as they don't know what to say to each other first. Yerim was scolding herself in her head, she had planned what to say to Jungkook beforehand but it seemed that all of it just melted away from her head. Jungkook wasn't doing any better, his eyes wandered when he spotted Yerim carrying a paper bag.

"Oh, what's that?" He asked pointing to the bag she was holding. "Got something from your fan just now?" He let out bluntly, but quickly regretted it not wanting to start another fight with her.

"Oh, it's for you." Yerim said, not paying attention to what he just said. "Congratulations on graduating." She said while handing him the bag. Jungkook seemed surprised as he took the gift from her hand after thanking her.

"Um, Jungkook oppa," Yerim started after a while, "I was hoping we could talk." At this, Jungkook seemed to have came back to his senses and remembered the whole reason he wanted to find Yerim.

"Oh, right I have something to talk to you as well." He replied and both fell into silence again. Jungkook cleared his throat at the awkward atmosphere before asking her to come and find a less crowded place.

Once they found a less crowded place, they both still didn't utter a word.

"So-"

"Well-" They both said at the same time to clear the atmosphere. They each gave a shy smile at what had just happened before Jungkook encouraged her to speak first.

"Well, I, um, just wanted to say sorry to you." Yerim said slowly. "I-I just stormed away that night and didn't even give you a proper explanation when you had just done something nice for me."

Yerim snuck a glance towards Jungkook, trying to gauge his reaction. The boy was listening attentively to what she was saying and that gave her a bit of confidence to continue.

"I was touched by what you did, I really was, but I just got upset when I remembered something." She continued, still keeping an eye on Jungkook's reaction which was now turned into a confused one.

"You, um, you mentioned something about Eunji when you were getting my present." She started explaining. "And honestly, I saw you and her during my birthday and I was quite upset."

"I mean, you haven't said anything throughout the day and you seemed to have disappeared. I was sad because I though you forgot but then I saw you coming out of her car and I got really upset."

Yerim took a moment after letting out the story. She looked at Jungkook again, trying to know if he's following what she had just said. When she was about to start talking again, she was a bit hesitant.

Okay Yerim, she said to herself, just say it. It's better to say it know than regretting not to.

"I was, I was actually jealous." She let out. "And I didn't actually have a reason to be jealous when we're just best friends, just as you said."

"But I actually would want to be more than that." She let it out, finally. "I like you, not just platonically, I-I like like you."

Yerim heaved out a sigh as she finished her sentence. It's as if a huge burden was lifted from her shoulders and she felt light. However, she noticed the lack of response from the boy in front of her.

"It's-it's totally fine though if you don't feel like that. This must be very sudden for you as well." Yerim started to blabber when Jungkook seemed frozen. "I just didn't want to regret not being able to confess to you and leave our relationship as it was after that night."

"Um, and, uh I understand as well if you don't want to see me again after this," she continued on, now that she's finally opened she can't seem to stop, "with you going to college and yeah, maybe you can get together with Eunji as well and-"

"Yerim." Jungkook finally spoke, cutting off Yerim's blabbering. Yerim finally looked up to his face seeing a gentle smile splayed on his face.

"Okay, firstly let me just say what I planned on saying." He began. "I wanted to apologize as well for not coming up sooner to talk to you and clear things up before all of this, it was cowardly of me."

"I'm glad you finally explained to me what's going on in that little head of yours." He continued, a light teasing tone. "It's good to know so I can say sorry that I made you upset with what's happened."

"About Eunji noona," he hesitated a bit, "there's nothing going on between us. Maybe I did find her amazing at first, but now I just view her as a good older sister."

"And, um, with what you just said," Jungkook cleared his throat, "I, why would you think I wouldn't want to see you again when I actually feel, um, the same."

He muttered the last part which Yerim couldn't properly get. Yerim tilted her head in confusion while Jungkook could feel the blush creeping up.

Okay, it's time. Man up, say it clearly Jeon.

"I like you Yerim," He said clearly, "I've always liked you and thought of you as a little sister. But lately it's been different and I'm sure that I like like you as well."

Yerim's eyes widened at his confession. Her heart was fluttering and it seemed like a whole zoo just erupted in her tummy. Before she knew it, a big smile was plastered on her face with pink tinting her cheeks. She also accidently let out a short squeal.

"Gosh, you're absolutely adorable Yerim." He said, the same smile was also on his face. "I'd really like to hug you right now."

"Then why don't you." Yerim quickly replied before feeling embarassed for it. Hearing her approval, Jungkook quickly sqooped her into a bear hug. Yerim let out gave out a squeak as the action was so sudden, but quickly enjoyed the hug. Though they've hugged a number of times, this felt different, a good different.

"So I guess this is day one, huh?" Jungkook said while still holding onto Yerim. Yerim could only nod as she buried her face into Jungkook's chest.

Well, maybe this could be the beginning of their ever after.
