.Chapter 7.
Enemy or... Mate?
“Sungyeol, what are you doing here so late in the night? And what just happened to you…?” Dongwoo asked as soon as he opened his door and Sungyeol noticed a flash of concern behind his wide eyes. Sungyeol kept mum, because in all honesty he himself has no idea ‘what happened to him’
Dongwoo being the kind soul he was, quickly stepped aside and gestured for Sungyeol to enter his small and cozy hut. The hut consisted of a long lounge, with an attached kitchenette, and a single bedroom, that Dongwoo shared with his very sweet and kind mate, Claudia. Claudia was a petite and short bob hair girl, who unlike her timid looks was anything but weak. She was one hell of an adventurous girl who travelled all the way from Mexico just in search for her mate… Dongwoo was one of the few werewolves in their clan who were lucky enough to find their true mates, the very reason why Sungyeol always looked at them in envy.
“Oh Sungyeol, what good surprise!” Sungyeol snapped his face toward the feminine voice and saw a very pregnant Claudia coming out of the bedroom, wrapped in a big sweatshirt. Claudia’s accent along with her ability to speak their language was still a long way from perfection but Sungyeol still admired her will power to adjust in an unknown area just for her mate sake. Claudia was easily Sungyeol’s other best friend… because no matter how much of a secret he shares with Dongwoo, his best friend would blabber it out to his mate at the first given chance, and thus Sungyeol had started considering her as his best friend slash secret keeper as well.
“No offence but you looks like ,” Dongwoo said with a chuckle, as Sungyeol sat down on a mat after greeting Claudia.
“I know,” Sungyeol mumbled with his eyes staring in space. Dongwoo and his mate shared a worried look, then muttering something about preparing a hot drink Claudia left for their so-called kitchen while Dongwoo slumped down beside his best friend.
“What happened, Sungyeol? You have started to worry us.”
Sungyeol bite his lips nervously as he kept recalling what just happened in the dungeons just a few minutes ago, he again started feeling a warm sizzling feeling in his lower stomach, as he contemplated whether to tell his best friend or not.
“Sungyeollie, you know I can’t see-”
“Dad has grounded me.” Sungyeol’s soft mutter was loud enough to make Dongwoo to stop in his mid-sentence, making him frown.
“I am sorry, I think I am not following you… what did you just say?”
Sungyeol raised his head enough to look directly in Dongwoo big brown searching eyes. “The Alpha has grounded me, meaning I am not allowed to leave my room.”
Dongwoo shook his head like he still didn’t believed what he just heard, “Okay… but why? And how come you are here?”
“Rowley saw me sneaking to the dungeons.” Sungyeol supplied, looking miserable.
“Sneaking to the dungeons?!? But why in the name of-” Dongwoo stopped short and a look of realization crossed his fair features. “Oh no, Lee Sungyeol, you did not just… argh… why the hell would you even go and meet that bloodsucker? Are you out of your mind?”
Sungyeol had no words to answer that question, because there were other things that were swirling around his aching head that was already filled with tons of unanswered questions.
“Dongwoo?” Sungyeol suddenly said as he again turned to face at his pissed off looking friend. “I need to ask you something since you have already read nearly all the books from the library.”
“Why do I have a feeling I am not gonna like this question of yours?” Dongwoo muttered suspiciously but Sungyeol simply disregard him. Just then Claudia comes back with three streaming cups of hot beverage and ease herself in a pillow filled low chair, and her presence alone made Sungyeol to calm a little. “So what is it?”
“I was just wondering…,” Sungyeol’s voice was barely above a whisper as he wrapped his ice cold hands around the warm cup. “You know how every wolf have a true mate somewhere is this big world, right?”
Dongwoo frowned slightly but nodded once Claudia’s hand came to rest on his shoulder, making him to fall at ease at once. Sungyeol couldn’t help but feel jealous; because it was something he wanted for himself as well but knew he wouldn’t get, no matter what.
“Ahum… yeah, so… is it possible for a werewolf to mate with… umm… well, can he mate with a vampire?” The last word came out as a mere breath but Dongwoo had no trouble hearing it if his shocked expression and slightly gapping mouth was taken in the consideration. Behind him Claudia mirrored her mate’s baffled expressions.
“Have you lost your mind? Have you any idea what you are even saying? If it’s some kind of-” Dongwoo’s voice had started out chilly cold but it was increasing steadily and Sungyeol knew soon he would be shouting in rage.
“No, wait. Dongwoo, you just don’t understand-”
“No Lee Sungyeol, it’s you who don’t understand!” Dongwoo all but shouted, looking at Sungyeol like he was a mental patient. “You asked me that question, right? Then let me answer you… and it is a big fat NO!”
“Look Dongwoo-”
“Let me fini
