Chapter 1
Bystander [HIATUS][CONTENTID1]CHAPTER ONE[/CONTENTID1]
[CONTENTID2]Fluttering open, my eyes stared up at the plain white ceiling of my room. I could hear the loud shouts coming from downstairs, probably kitchen.
The light in my room was on, meaning that either mom or dad had already walked in and had their share of waking me up. A sigh slipped past my lips and I pushed the covers of my bed away.
Sitting up without falling back to sleep was my biggest bother at the moment, but I knew that if I didn't get up in the next five minutes, I'll get shouted at.
With tired movements I dressed myself and wobbled into the bathroom for my mundane morning routine. After a long stare into the mirror I dried my face and stumbled down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Breakfast on the table. Eat it and hurry to school, or you'll be late again." my mom instructed, her face red from annoyance at my brother.
Quietly leaning closer to him, I mumrured, "What did you do this time?" for an answer I only got a shrug of his shoulders. I nodded my head and continued to eat my omelette, drinking the black tea quickly after and then stridding to the door where my school shoes were. "Good luck everyone. I'm leaving first." I yelled out and slowly walked down my street and to the bus stop.
Not even being able to reach my destination, the familiar voice of Hana, my only friend, was heard all over the street. "MiRan! You're finally here!" she exclaimed with fake happiness, her eyes being hollow.
"Did something happen to you?" I asked her, side to side with the slouched figure of hers. From the corner of her eyes she sent me a glare and after suppressing a sigh I decided to not meddle into her life anymore.
Getting into the loaded bus wasn't particularly pleasant, but it was either this, or walking. The people already occupying the seats stared down the new comers with smug faces, as if trying to show off that they have somehwere to sit.
How childish...
Ten minutes of standing went by faster than normal, and without realizing it, I was already making my way towards the school, Hana rambling on about something that didn't catch my attention.
"Oh!" she suddenly gasped and covered . "Those guys are smoking there!" she pointed out, nodding her head at their direction just to show me.
"So what...?" I breathed out, the phrase being inaudible for her deaf ears.
The group of guys turned to our direction and started to snigger, puffing out the smoke. Almost instantly, Hana's hand was s around my own, as she shook like a leaf beside me. I rolled my eyes at her stupid act and continued on my walk nonchalantly.
"Are you not scared, MiRan?" she asked with a whisper, though by the eager looks of the guys, I was sure that they heard her.
"Of course I am. Now hurry up." I murmured, my voice coming out bored.
"... that doesn't sound scared to me..." she scoffed, and most likely rolled her eyes. Without having much to say, I suppressed my yawn as we passed through the school gates.
Couple of students hurrying to class pushed through our walking figures and I had to extend my arms to hold my balance.
"Damned imbeciles, running and pushing people aside." Hana scoffed out, her face set into a snarl.
"Something definitely happened." I murmured to myself as I observed Hana, who was picking up her fallen books and placing them back into her back. "Are you set to go?" I asked her, once her back was slung over her shoulder.
"Just go. Not as if you helped me, anyway." she said with a small glare on her face.
"You know that I'm not keen on helping people." I stated as a matter of fact.
Our conversation was brought into the main hall of the school. Walking by me was the same boy that I saw running to the nurse's office yesterday.
"Kim Tan's friend. JiMin, was it...?" I murmured to myself, catching a glimpse of his side-profile as he was turning the corner. "Must be..."
"What are you doing, talking with yourself? Do you want rumors to be spread around? You'll become the laughing object of our school." she snapped, her voice faking the feeling of care. Underneath it was the enjoyment from her imagining me becoming a laughing stock.
My eyes slipped away from her face when I entered the classroom.
Chaos.
This as the only word that could describe the peoples' behaviors at this moment. Paper planes flying about. Obnoxious laughter from a
