Droning Cosmos“Sweetie, are you ready for the flight?” A knock came from the door, followed by the voice of a woman. The young girl with short curly brown locks hurriedly zipped up her purple suitcase and stood up to open the door. As soon as her mother’s face appeared in front of her, she smiled enthusiastically. “Yes, Mom! I’m so excited! Thank you for this wonderful birthday gift!”
“Anything for you. Just be sure to stick with Sean, okay? He’s the only one you could trust. I’m glad he’s always with you.” She nodded and hugged her almost-crying mother tightly.
Just when the girl opened to speak, her mother interrupted her with a teasing look on her face. “Say, why don’t you just answer him? You know he’s waiting for you for like two years already!”
The girl was shocked with what her parent said as she pulled away from the heart-warming hug, and then she looked at her straight in the eyes. “Mom!”
Another teasing laugh can be heard from her Mom and in return, the girl just pouted. “Alright, fine! I’m out of that. Let’s go downstairs, Dad’s waiting for you.” The young girl sighed in response.
She picked up her medium sized backpack and then put it on her shoulders, afterwards, she pulled her suitcase from behind. Before closing the door, she took one last glance at her room with flowers as its wallpaper and smiled sadly. From the window, the sun lit up wonderfully and made the room so bright – she could also see particles from the ray of light from outside and she thought it was absolutely stunning. ‘I’ll be back soon. I’m going to miss home.’ She thought.
Her mother gave her advices for travel while going downstairs and she just nodded until she had finished speaking. Tears are already forming on her eyes but she managed to keep it to herself.
“Hey, kittenpie.”
The young girl gave her father an irritated glare because of how ‘cheesy’ that nickname was. She hated it because, one, it’s weird. And two, because she just hates it – however, for now, it doesn’t matter anymore because she knows that she would really miss it when she’ll leave her home. Her father laughed at her like he would always do and then he said, “You know, I just… I love you, okay? Take care of yourself.”
“Dad, stop with the drama! It’s not like I’m going to take a one-year vacation, right? Besides, I love you too! I will always love you, even more than my future husband!” She stopped abruptly when she realized what she just said. It took her a few more seconds to regain her composure before saying, “On second thought, maybe just a little bit.” She giggled just when both of her parents laughed at the same time. They ended their conversation when her mother asked her Dad to call a taxi. They didn’t want to have the dramatic atmosphere all over the house so they just shrugged it off as if their daughter is just going to school. The girl wants to see them happy even when she’s gone.
Her father hurriedly took her purple suitcase while she walked her way to the front gate and held the straps of her backpack, patiently waiting for her best friend.
“Is Sean here already?” asked her Mom.
She answered her immediately. “He should be here any second now.”
With that, she started
