Monday morning Kyungsoo got a text message from Jongin.

My Boyfriend <3: You can have lunch with

     your friends today.

What? Why? Did Jongin have enough of Kyungsoo after Saturday’s events? Did he have a bet with his friends about holding Kyungsoo’s hand and now he didn’t need him anymore? Was this like a trick question or a mission? After pondering for some time Kyungsoo decided that the only thing that mattered was that he got to eat with his friends again.

During lunchtime he practically ran to his old table.

“Kyungsoo!”

Jongdae was the first at receiving him.

“Oh, what are you doing here? Aren’t you getting in trouble?”

Junmyeon couldn’t help but wonder at the sudden change.

“I don’t know. Maybe he saw how dorks you guys are and decided to set me free!”

“Yah!                       

“You are the dork!”

Both his friends shouted at the same time.

“Hey, but Jongin is really nice!”

Only Jongdae could see the positive side of everything.

“What are you talking about? Besides you even think Professor Kang is nice!”

Kyungsoo teased back.

“That’s true Jongdae, you are hopeless.”

Junmyeon joined Kyungsoo. Together they teased Jongdae, although to be fair it was quite easy to do it. 

He really missed this; Kyungsoo felt at home. Only things got really weird really fast.

Jongin came and sat down with them, just next to Kyungsoo. Not only that, but he was followed by the whole popular entourage. Sehun was having a discussion with Tao about whether ‘Shabu Shabu’ was best or ‘Miso soup’ was.

“No, I know they are really different but you can never go wrong with ‘Shabu Shabu’.”

Sehun insisted.

“Miso soup is better!”

It was Tao’s turn to argue.

“Is not. Am I right?”

Sehun suddenly turned the conversation at Junmyeon who looked really confused.

“I prefer Shabu Shabu.”

Junmyeon answered none the less.

“See! I told you!”

Sehun smiled triumphantly and they continued their food discussion, only this time Junmyeon was included.

The others were involved in small conversations. Luhan greeted Jongdae and started talking about math class since they both took it together. Minseok gave a strange look but sat down with them and fell quickly into conversation as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

The popular table remained empty but there was no doubt that these kids remained as top of the chain.

During the lunch period their table was the loudest. Kyungsoo felt as Jongin grabbed his hand under the table. Kyungsoo looked towards him but Jongin just kept talking to Minseok as if nothing was different. Tao had taken a liking of Junmyeon and Yifan kept throwing dirty looks their way.

Everything about this was weird but somehow felt right.

It had been more than two months since they started dating. Some of it was a routine. Jongin made Kyungsoo carry his bag; they had lunch together and sometimes he hangs out with them after class, mostly Kyungsoo trying to get all his assignments done thru his phone.

One day after class Jongin led him to the basketball court instead.

“Let’s play.”

“Why? Do you want to humiliate me again?”

Kyungsoo had gotten used to Jongin but was still reluctant about this whole situation.

“No, it’s because you at it and I think you should learn.”

Kyungsoo just gave Jongin a dirty look about his last statement but he dropped the bags and joined him.

“The main problem is that you are too short.”

“I still scored one last time!”

Kyungsoo said defensively a little pissed that Jongin kept dissing him.

“And you are throwing the ball without a real destination.”

Jongin continued without paying attention at Kyungsoo’s rambling.

“Just start by throwing it at the square on the hoop. Let that be your target like you did last time.”

Kyungsoo got the ball and tried but the ball was way off.

“Wow, your pose is all wrong too.”

Jongin said.

“I don’t want to do this.”

Kyungsoo dropped the ball and turned to leave. Jongin stopped him.

“Wait, come back.”

Kyungsoo turned at Jongin’s order.

“Just try grabbing it like this.”

Jongin fixed Kyungsoo’s hands on the ball. Kyungsoo blushed a bit at how close they were standing right now.

“Also, your legs.”

Jongin fixed Kyungsoo’s legs.

“Now, throw.”

Kyungsoo did. The ball didn’t go in but it did bounce against the hoop.

“Why is it that hard? Watch…”

Jongin grabbed the ball from Kyungsoo and threw it and scored a basket. He gave the ball back to Kyungsoo.

“Show off.”

Kyungsoo said before trying again. This time he made the hoop.

He looked at Jongin with the biggest smile and Jongin couldn’t help but smile as well.

“Ok, now you have to learn how to take the ball from me.”

Kyungsoo’s smile disappeared. Jongin was a cruel teacher.

Jongin started running with the ball, dribbling and throwing it.

Kyungsoo tried and tried but he couldn’t get the ball to change hands. This got him really frustrated. He wasn’t usually this competitive but he was being humiliated the longer this lasted. Kyungsoo became more aggressive at blocking Jongin and they only stopped once Kyungsoo realized that he was practically giving Jongin a back hug, only holding him tighter. Kyungsoo let go of Jongin and they both looked kind of shy.

Jongin broke the silence first.

“I think that would do for today.”

“Yeah, um, I have to do some homework. See you tomorrow.”

Kyungsoo ran away before Jongin could stop him. He was feeling flustered and his heart was beating like crazy.
