“Happy birthday, Dara-love”, Jiyong whispered. ‘How many more birthdays will it be before I hold you in my arms again? Where are you, my love?’
 

Flashback: Seven Years Ago

“Ya! Let go of me!”, a girl’s voice screamed into the night. Jiyong ran around the corner and saw a petite woman being harassed by what looks like drunk college boys.

“Come on, just go inside the house with us. We have a house party and I’m sure you’re going to enjoy yourself”, one of the men ‘boys’ said.

“I don’t think she’s interested in your little house party so I suggest you go back in and leave her alone”, Jiyong said, with a deadly voice. The two boys heard the malice in his voice, quickly let the girl go and hurried inside the house.

“Miss, are you okay?”, he asked. “Yes, thank you for helping me.”, the girl shyly said. “My name is Kwon Jiyong”, he introduced. “What’s your name?”, he added. She looked down at her feet for a few seconds and gave him a shy smile. “I’m Park Sandara”, she said.

“It’s very nice to meet you, Park Sandara”, Jiyong said. “You can call me Dara, after all I owe you for saving me back there”, Dara said quietly.

“Where were you going, Dara?”, he asked. “I was headed home, my house is just 5 blocks away from here”, Dara said. “Will you let me walk you home to make sure you’re safe? What were you doing out so late anyway?”, Jiyong asked.
