"There is wonder in every decision made. And I wonder what my parents were thinking when they decided to sell me off. Okay, maybe 'selling off' is a little too harsh. But that's exactly what it feels like right now as I sit surrounded by furniture and items that used to fill my home, being auctioned off to the most generous buyer. Ceh! Men and their money!"

"Aegisshi, are you ready to leave?"

A firm voice floated from the doorway startling Song Ji Hyo from her mental ranting. She turned to the doorway and spotted her bodyguard, the only man she trusted, one who has never left her side since she was a child, who she has come to see as her brother.

"Owh?"

A small smile cracked the stiffness of Choi Min Soo's face. He had been wearing the frown the whole day. He, of all people had dreaded this day. Oh, how he would miss seeing that blank face of his charge, ani, his sister. For over 2 decades since she turned 4, he had served as her personal bodyguard, he had come to love her as his own. And it breaks his heart to know that this will be the last time he walks by her side.

"Aegisshi, your car is waiting. If you're ready, we should leave now. It will be a long drive to Seoul."

"Ah, ne."

Ji Hyo stood up and took one last look around her bedroom. The walls that was once filled with her personal touches, was now laid bare as the day she- ani, never had she seen her walls this bare before. Slowly, it started to dawn on her that she'll never step into this house ever again, no longer will she be able to run into her parents' arms, no longer will she be able to spar with Min Soo oppa. The sting behind her eyes signaling the onslaught of tears made her turn swiftly from the doorway, shielding herself from Min Soo. She quickly rubbed her eyes, not allowing any tears to fall. She took a deep shaky breath, put on her cold exterior and squared her shoulders before turning back to face Min Soo.

“I’m ready.”

Noting the stiffness of her voice, Min Soo’s smile left his face. Had he any amount of say or power, he would definitely contest the will. But he was just a lowly bodyguard indebted to the Song family. His words would mean nothing. For these last few hours he could only offer her his protection, like how he had been doing for the past 20 years.

He nodded.

“Let us go Aegisshi, your future awaits.”
