Chapter Nine

Fight me, Hong Jisoo!

` (    FightMe  HongJisoo    )

Chapter nine :
"NonONONONONO. Hong Jisoo, NO.
"

‘Junghan-‘

‘Didn’t I tell you to stop talking to me-‘

‘No, you didn-‘

‘Well, I’m telling you now!’

Junghan turns away, face red from embarassment; it’d been a week ever since Jisoo and Junghan’s Cafe became one and it’d been exactly one week of embarassment for Junghan. Jisoo has been stuck to Junghan since day one, following the other around like a lost kitten (Junghan refuses to admit that Jisoo’s acting adorable.) Truth to be told, it isn’t that bad having Jisoo around him; the other sure made Junghan’s cleaning time a lot less boring (and a lot more loud.)

Whenever Jisoo is around, the male wouldn’t stop talking; it would be from small talks like ‘Business is good, yeah?’ to random ‘I like chocolate’s and Junghan swears he’d never tried not to laugh so hard before. Because let’s be honest here, keeping a straight face towards Jisoo is almost impossible.

‘C’mon!’ Jisoo runs after Junghan, stopping the other in his path as he looks at the other with big eyes, pouting like a little kid.

‘Can you not.’

‘No-‘

Jisoo’s words are cut off when Junghan pushes pass him, walking to the kitchen and even though Jisoo can only see Junghan’s back, the reflection from the metal coffee machines shows a blushing Junghan, smile creeping onto his face.

‘Yo, do you think they’re gonna become friends again-‘

‘Oh my god, unless you’re trying to get yourself killed, learn how to whisper!’

‘Wha-‘

Seungcheol earns a painful nudge from Jihoon, the younger glaring at him with his finger on his lips.

‘Jeez, fine…’ Seungcheol pouts, keeping his mouth shut as he watches Junghan and Jisoo bickering from the cashier.

The night before, Junghan had been ranting to Seungcheol about how he’ll never utter a single word to Jisoo again, yet now, the two are argueing at the back, loud enough for customers to hear. If it isn’t for an embarassed Seokmin after being asked if they needed help getting the two drunk teens out of the cafe, the arguement would’ve lasted ‘till midnight.

‘I can’t believe they’re argueing about socks. I mean, fuzzy socks are better but still-‘

‘What.’ Seungcheol raises his eyebrows at his co-worker. ‘Jihoon, normal socks are better. How can you walk around with fuzzy socks on, like won’t it be hot?!’

‘Hyung, thin socks are ew.’ Jihoon mutters as he receives the money from their customers; the pink-haired boy looks up to flash a friendly smile at his customers as he says thank you, surprising Seungcheol when he shoots a glare at the older.

‘How the hell was that the same person just now-‘

‘Shut up.’ Jihoon mumbles, putting the money neatly into the drawers before looking up at Seungcheol. ‘And fuzzy socks are way more comfortable to wear.’

‘No?! They’re so itchy and hot and-‘

‘You’re just not cool enough to wear them.’ Jihoon sticks out his tongue at the other, giggling as he runs towards Wonwoo and Mingyu.

‘Lee Jihoon! What did you just say about me?!’ Seungcheol chases after the other, not caring about the vacant spot at the cashier. ‘Just so you know, I am cool!’

‘Junghannnnnnnnnnnnnn!’

‘Oiiiiiiii!’

..

‘Yoon Jungha-‘

‘What?!- Oh my g-‘

Crash!’

‘Oh my god, Junghan! Are you okay?!’

Having abruptly turning around to face Jisoo, Junghan manages to slip (‘Kwon Soonyoung, where the hell is the ‘warning: wet floor’ sign?!’), tumbling into Jisoo arms. A normal person would’ve expected to land face first onto the floor; Yoon Junghan isn’t a normal person - the male had expected to land into Jisoo’s chest, expecting to feel the soft cotton pressing against his skin just like how he’d seen in dramas.

But hey, real life isn’t like that.

‘God dammit.’

Junghan did feel Jisoo’s shirt on his cheek but there is no time to enjoy it as the next thing he feels is the sharp pain on his knees, scraping against the wooden floor.

‘F-‘

‘Don’t say it-‘

‘Shut up, Jisoo!’ Junghan groans, pushing himself up from the floor (Junghan had managed to push both of them down, Jisoo laying beneath him.) ‘I expected you to catch me, you f-‘

‘Wha-‘

‘Have you not seen any dramas before-‘ Junghan stops, hoping Jisoo didn’t catch that as he continues rubbing his knees, hoping for the pain to go away. ‘I mean, I just scraped my knees, so I’m pretty sure I don’t need your permission to swear.’

Jisoo blinks, staring at Junghan as the other’s words are slowly being registered into his brain; as if a light bulb had just went on, Jisoo mouths open, though closing right after as he flashes a bright smile at a frustrated Junghan.

‘Why isn’t the pain going away-‘

‘That’s ‘cause you’re rubbing on it, dummy.’

‘What did you just call me-‘

To stop the other from yelling at him again, Jisoo chuckles before pulling Junghan by his hand, leading the other towards an empty seat (‘Customers are gonna sit here-‘ ‘Shut up, you’re more important right now.’)

‘Jisoo, don’t even think about trying anything stupi-‘

‘I’m not!’ Jisoo raises his hands up defensively before flicking the other’s forehead softly. ‘Just so you know, I’m an expert at healing wounds.’

‘Are you freakin’ kidding me-‘ Junghan rolls his eyes, unimpressed.

‘No, I’m serious!’ Jisoo frowns when he sees the disapproval in Junghan’s expression. ‘Fine, I’ll show you!’

Junghan leans back, waiting to be disappointed as he lets Jisoo do whatever he wants.

‘WHAT THE F-‘

The sudden coldness from whatever the hell Jisoo had rubbed onto Junghan’s knees made the long-haired male shoot up, hands on his mouth to shut himself up as he receives unhappy stares. Junghan furrows his eyebrows as he looks at Jisoo with big eyes, furious because what the was that-

‘C’monnnnn! Sit still.’ The calmness in Jisoo’s voice only makes Junghan angrier.

‘Are you kiddin-‘

‘Gosh, you’re really hard to deal with, you know that?’

Junghan freezes in his stance, the sudden revealation hurting him a lot more that he had expected.

Jisoo lets out a quiet laugh when he sees the other’s face, realizing it might’ve came out a little mean. Trying to make up for it, Jisoo gets up as he pushes the other’s shoulders down gently.

‘But that’s why I want to be with you.’ Jisoo whispers when he manages to get Junghan seated down again.

What the-

‘Ah!’ Junghan lets out a small yelp, trying to keep his voice down when he feels Jisoo blowing onto his wound. ‘What are you doin-‘

‘Shush, this will help.’ Jisoo focuses his eyes onto Junghan’s knees, not even once glancing up at the other. ‘Trust me.

Junghan doesn’t know how to feel about this anymore.

All he wants to do is push the other away, telling Jisoo that he’s fine dealing with his own wounds, that he doesn’t need the other here and that who the hell gave Jisoo the rights to tell Junghan to trust him

Junghan knows he can’t let himself feel anything besides hate towards Jisoo. He knows it so damn well.

He just isn’t sure if he can do it anymore.

Jisoo’s touches are so, so soothing and Junghan feels himself melting when he feels Jisoo’s breathe on his knees.

This can’t be happenin-

‘There, all better~’

Junghan blinks, snapping out of his trance as he looks down to his knees; colourful bandaids are now plastered on, covering his wounds.

‘W-What the heck, Jisoo…’ Junghan bites his bottom lip, embarassed from stuttering. ‘How can I walk around with two bright pink bandaids stuck to my knees?! Why do you even have these-‘

‘Shush, they’re my lucky bandaids.’ Jisoo smiles proudly as he looks at Junghan’s knees. ‘They’re cute, too!’

‘No?! I’m a 20 years old grown-up! I don’t think I want to look cute-

‘You are cute, though.’

Junghan’s surprised how Jisoo could’ve said that with a straight face.

God, please don’t let this happen.

Because no way in hell am I falling for this douche again.

No way-

‘Aren’t you gonna thank me?’ Junghan looks up to see Jisoo staring down at him, now standing up straight as he sports a small pout on his face.

Taken back by the sudden expression, Junghan gulps as he tries to regain his composure, getting up from his seat and heading towards the kitchen.

’T-Thanks.’

Well, crap.

Hyung.’

‘Hyung?’

..

‘HYUNG!’

‘What the-‘ Junghan shoots up from his seat, soul jumping out of his body as Chan had just screamed into his ear. ‘What?! Chan, you could’ve just poked me-‘

‘I did!’ Chan says in frustration, throwing his arms up. ‘I’m pretty sure I poked you like, 291837182 times?! What’s going on-‘

‘Chan, you can’t say ‘two nine one’ and more as a number-‘

‘Gosh, can you not, hyung?’ Junghan chuckles, ruffling the younger’s hair when he sees the little pout forming. ‘Anyways… What’s up with you?’

‘What’s up with me?’ Junghan furrows his brows, confused at the sudden question. ‘I’m fine? I-‘

‘I mean, you’ve been zoning out a lot lately…’ Chan taps his chin, thinking deeply before turning to his hyung with squinted eyes. ‘You… Is it because of Jisoo hyung-‘

‘What?!’ Junghan may have cut it a little too fast. ‘O-Of course not! I’m just tired.’

‘Cha-‘

‘Stop lying, hyung!’

‘W-‘

‘Hyung!’ Junghan’s eyes widen when he feels his cheeks being squished, Chan right up in his personal space. ‘You’re blushing! Hyung, you’re freaking blushing!’

Wait wha-

Oh my god, Junghan hyung is bl-‘

‘Don’t.’

Junghan manages to escape from Chan, covering the other’s mouth before they attract any attention from the other staffs. Junghan thanks God that the others are all too tired, most of them sleep-deprived from working late shifts the night before (Junghan really doesn’t get how Chan can be so energetic all the time.)

‘Phk phynung fdjalkda-‘

‘What- Oh, right.’ Junghan removes his hand from Chan’s mouth, waiting for the other to talk.

‘Hyun-‘

‘If you say whatever you said before, I’ll lock you up together with Vernon and Seungkwan.’

‘Okay okay, please don’t.’ Chan panicks, the thought of staying together in one room with those two… To listen to those two argueing would be the death of Chan. ‘But hyung, is it really because of Jisoo hyung?!’

‘What, n-‘

‘You know you can’t lie to me.’ Junghan frowns when he sees Chan with his arms folded across his chest.

‘God dammit, fine.’ Junghan sighs in defeat. ‘Yeah, it is ‘cause of him…’

‘Andddddddddd?’ Chan gestures for his hyung to continue.

‘And nothing. (‘Wait what?!’) Yeah, nothing. It’s probably just a phase-‘

‘You know that’s not true-‘

‘I don’t care, okay?’ Rubbing his temples, Junghan sighs before waving the other off. ‘Get back to work, Chan. It’s really nothing, yeah?’

Is it really nothing?

Is it really?

Another week passes by in a breeze, the cafe gaining fame from the amazing food and coffee to the good looking staffs. Everyone are getting along well, even Vernon and Seungkwan; the two kids are now learning to let an arguement topic slide, both too tired and too focused on work (it’s definitely not because of weird feelings.)

Though Junghan still doesn’t know how Jisoo and him are.

Most importantly though, he doesn’t know what they are together.

They talk now, at least it’s not only argueing; Junghan remembers Jisoo’s smile, radiating off the walls of the cafe when Junghan had turned to him, not avoiding his eyes this time. Junghan remembers as if it was yesterday how clear and uplifting Jisoo’s voice is whenever he walks into the cafe, greeting the long haired male with a cheerful ‘Morning!’ that Junghan always try to walk pass without smiling.

And Junghan remembers clearly how his heart skips a beat when he catches Jisoo staring at him, gaze soft and loving. Junghan doesn’t know if that’s the right word to use, he doesn’t even know how he feels anymore.

It’s too late now.

Junghan knows he’d gone too far down the ignoring road, knowing that Jisoo’s just acting nice since they’re forced to work together, knowing that Jisoo doesn’t have any feelings for him (maybe all Jisoo feels are hatred and annoyance, Junghan doesn’t want to know.)

There’s no use feeling this way-

Junghan?’

Speak of the devil, here he comes.

‘H-Hey.’ Junghan mumbles under his breathe, distracting himself with the cloth in his hand, wiping the counter clean.

‘Why are you still here?’ Jisoo asks, voice full of worries and Junghan has to tell himself it’s just another act. ‘It’s like, almost midnight! The boys did clean that before-‘

‘Why are you here?’ Junghan retorts, hoping that the other drops this conversation and just leave him alone.

‘I…’

Junghan lifts his head to glance at Jisoo when he doesn’t hear a reply, confused when he sees an awkward Jisoo, hand rubbing his own neck as he stares at the ground.

‘You what?’

‘I didn’t see you leave with the boys before…’ (It’s just an act, Junghan. Just an act.) ‘So I thought you might be here. I was kinda worried since it’s so late and you shouldn’t be walking around at this hour-‘

‘Jisoo, I’m a grown man.’ Junghan laughs at the other’s words, no time to deny the fact that Hong Jisoo is so damn adorable when he’s flustered.

‘I-I know that!’ Jisoo mumbles, his pout turning into a small smile when he catches the other’s laughing. ‘It’s just… You know, it’s still dangerous.’

‘Okay, okay.’ Junghan wipes a tear off of his cheek, laughter dying down before chucking the cloth behind the counter. ‘Alright, I’ll go home now. So just leave.’

..

.

‘Jis-‘

‘Let me take you home.’

‘J-‘

‘I know you don’t want me to. (‘Then why ask-‘) I just… It’s late and-‘

Junghan lets out a small chuckle as he waves the other off, sighing in defeat before grabbing his things.

‘Gosh, Jisoo. Stop being such an overprotective… Overprotective… Fr-‘

‘Boyfriend?-‘

Junghan snaps his head towards the other when the word left Jisoo’s mouth, both boys blushing brightly. It’s as if everything had just froze, Jisoo having to break the silent with an awkward cough.

’S-So?’ Jisoo fiddles with his fingers, too embarrassed to look at the other.

Though Jisoo is catch by surprise when he feels Junghan’s nudging his arm, looking up to a semi-annoyed Junghan.

‘Are you gonna go with me or not?’ Junghan asks. ‘You can always stay here and lock the cafe for me-‘

‘Let’s go!’

Man, Jisoo sure sounds excited.

One walk home won’t change anything…

Right?
