☃ haunted house

Revenge on the playgirl's sister!
chapter nine
haunted house

"Welcome to 2-C's haunted house!"  The door suddenly closed behind them and they were confronted by a guy with joker make-up on.

"Aish-" Wonwoo cursed under his breath with a string of very, very crude vulgarities.

What makes him so unhappy? One might ask. Well, for one, Wonwoo wasn't into horror. He hated mannequins and all those stuff ever since he was freaking five when the elder guys bullied him for looking really 'defiant'. At that age, Wonwoo was as innocent and naive as any other kid. Being in a dark classroom with many ripped-up dolls around just scared the out of him.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Wonwoo is mumbling indecent words under his breath.

That didn't stop the guy with creepy make-up on from talking.

"Hello, I will be guiding you around, since some guy in our class made it so damn complicated to complete." He smiled at them with a box-shaped grin, "Shall we?"

"And before I forget," The joker paused, "V at your service." He bowed slightly, making Bi An giggle.

He lead them around, timing all the scares at the right times. Wonwoo felt his heart beat irregularly fast against his chest. Curse this ty place! These mannequins are going to kill me one day. Why doesn't a haunted house has ghosts instead? I seriously hate dolls. He growled again and his eyes slitted.

"Before we move on, let's take a seat, shall we?" The person named 'V' said and proceeded to take his place on the kingly chair while they dubiously sat on some randomly decorated ones. The heck was a sunshine, flowery design doing in the middle of nowhere? Geez.

"Woah, woah. You don't look too good, mister 'I-don't-give-two-s-to-anything'," 'V' chuckled as he tilted his head innocently, "Scared? Hold your girlfriend's hand." Wonwoo stared stonily at him, "Both facts are wrong, you damn guide-AH!" He screamed and jolted up from his seat when he saw a doll-like thing brush past his leg eerily.

"Got one fact right, actually." 'V' smiled smugly to himself and from the corner of his eye, he could see the girl trying hard not to laugh out loud.

"Wonwoo-sunbae... You okay?" He gave her a glare and sat back down, not bothering to spare her a second glace. 'V' smiled his unique rectangular smile again.

"I'm sorry to make you all sit here. Honestly, we are just waiting for the room to clear. The three boys in there are taking an awfully long time. Don't worry, they are more scared than you, Wonwoo-ssi." 'V' winked at him. Clicking his tongue at the usage of his name, Wonwoo proceeded to ignore him.

"I'm bored. What's your name, girl dongsaeng?"

She smiled at him warmly, "I'm Bi An-" The chair left a loud screech in its wake as Bi An jumped up and incidently pushed it backwards. She didn't scream but then she fell forward instead, hitting the floor with a hard 'thump' with her arms.

"V, you sure know how to play your cards right." She rolled her eyes at him and he shot her a rectangular grin.

Bi An winced as she tried to get up. When she managed to, she realised that her ankle was sprained from the throbbing pain. Sigh.

"Alright guys, my earpiece says you can move along now. What? WHAT? PARK JIMIN, you better watch out later! How dare you call me an idiot! You pabo!" 'V' cursed at the blank area before him. The duo behind looked on in amusement as a hand came out from behind the curtains and gave the joker a middle finger.

"Crazy kid," 'V' mumbled under his breath disapprovingly, "Anyways, I need to go get my next victims now so please get through this lane and you may get to the exit. Try hard." With that, the joker winked, took a bow and left.

Bi An chuckled, "He's, wow, interesting? " She turned to look at Wonwoo, only to find him ignoring her again.

"Wonwoo-sunbae, if I did anything wrong, I apologise." Bi An threw him a serious and determined look when he spared her a glance.

"Nothing. You did nothing, so stop being guilty," Wonwoo told her flatly.

"Okay then," She smiled slightly at him. Although she was doubtful of his answer, Bi An didn't want to probe further in fear of irritating the boy. Wonwoo's eyes twitched as he saw her earnest gaze. This was exactly why he didn't like being near her, why just looking at her pissed her off-

"Wonwoo-sunbae, don't look front," Her clear voice broke into his train of thoughts and he frowned as he heard that statement.

"Why-shibal," Wonwoo cursed as he found himself face-to-face with a human-sized doll. Breathing in and out to calm his nerves, the only thing he needed to maintain next was the urge to punch this person in the face.

Bi An coughed but Wonwoo knew she was about to laugh so he glared at her. "Sorry, sorry. But I read online, and they said that the best way to get rid of your fear is to keep experiencing it and not to avoid it, want to go another round?" She asked Wonwoo so she could help him but truthfully, it was funny to see someone getting shocked. Futhermore, that someone was Jeon Wonwoo, the pokerfaced, emotionless badass at her school!

"No." He responded dully, unamused by her antics.

"Just trying to help," Bi An smiled, glad that the ice between them had somehow melted. They walked and reached a crossroad.

"I somehow feel like no matter where we go, there will be something popping up."

"Stick to the left." Wonwoo walked off and she hobbled behind him. Bad choice, the only thing that was in for him was being frightened first. Wonwoo felt himself getting red in the face. It was stupid how he was getting paler by the minute just because of some stupid dolls. As if Bi An sensed his fright, she reached out to grab his jacket, as if her presence could sooth his nerves.

Flashback

"Yah Wonwoo! You have to get over your fear for dolls!"

"It's not necessary, Bi Eun." His low voice sent chills down her spine, but his loving gaze made up for the warmth.

"It is! What if we get married and have kids? Are you gonna let our girls play with toy cars? No way!" She glared at him cutely.

"Arasso." Wonwoo let himself get led into the Everland Haunted House, thinking it was not so bad at first, but then regretting immediately after he saw a ghost of a doll.

"Oppa," Bi Eun whispered, "Relax, I'm here to protect you."

She looked up at him and grinned. Wonwoo loved the sweet smile of hers, and couldn't help but do the same.

End of flashback

Wonwoo jerked away from her reach. And it's because they are sisters, that it's even more difficult to look at her in a new perspective. He could only see Bi Eun in her. He wasn't as mean everyone thought he was. Cold, yes, but not spiteful. In other words, Wonwoo wasn't going to stop the guys but, he wasn't going to do anything either. Because he could not afford to give two s about her. Bi An had that dedicated look in her eyes, and Bi Eun had it as well, although all under a pretense. It was giving him a headache and he didn't want to deal with anything.

For now, all he wants is just peace of his freaking mind. Damn, it is so hard to get these days.

He finally saw light from the exit and sighed audibly, a small smile growing on his face until he heard a scream.

Wonwoo frowned and looked back, seeing her sitting on the floor. He couldn't make out much details in the dark but it definitely looked like she was holding onto her foot. Wonwoo walked over nonchalantly. Bi An could feel someone near and called out, "Wonwoo-sunbae? Give me a sec and I will be right up-" She braced herself for the pain, and fortunately didn't tear at the agony.

Bi An hobbled as fast as she could but obviously couldn't catch up with Wonwoo's speed. He snorted, "Hey, if you are in so much pain, why don't you ask for help?" This was the only thing he was curious about her.

"Um, I don't want to burden anyone so-"

"I would think being a goodie-two-shoes is much more nauseating to people, no?"

"..."

Wonwoo gave her one last glance and left.

He's right. Maybe I'm just that.
