Jasmine’s POV

3 years ago...

“Master, good morning!”  Just like every morning, I greet my current master and prepare breakfast for him.

“Hm... Haneul...” I heard my master murmured. I sat to his bed and leaned over to hear what he was saying. Then I felt his arms around my waist. He pulled me to a hug.

“Ma--- Master! This--- this is...” I stuttered. I tried to pull away from his hug but he only tightened his hug.

“I told you. Don’t call me Master. Call me oppa.” He said in his husky voice which made my heart skip a beat.

“But... I’m your genie... And... I must call you Master as a respect.” I explained.

“Hm? Then... As your Master, I demand that you call me oppa.” He looked me in the eyes with full of authority. I nodded.

“Oppa...” I said shyly. I’m waaaaay older than him but he demands me to call him ‘oppa’. I feel that my heart keeps on pounding like crazy. Is this normal?

“Good.” He released me then kissed my forehead. I blushed. My current Master treats me differently. Makes me... He makes me confuse.

“O---oppa.” I called his attention. We’re eating breakfast together.

“Hm?” He put the newspaper that he’s reading down and looked at me.

“I’ve been your genie for quite some time now.”

“A year.” He said. I nodded.

“Yes.”

“So?” He asked. Looking at me with focused eyes. God. This is hard. I feel like my heart will leave my chest any moment now.

“You want me to say my last wish?” Again, I nodded. Looking at my plate, avoiding his eyes.

“Do you hate me?”

“Wha--? NO!” I shouted. Of course I don’t hate him. But... I’m feelin’ something that I shouldn’t.

“Then don’t ask me that again.” He firmly said. “I’m leaving.” He grabbed his things. He’s near the door, already leaving his apartment.

“I LIKE YOU!” I shouted. I can’t take it anymore. It’s hard to admit but I have to. I have to tell him that I like... I like him.

I heard the door closed. I thought he left but then I heard his footsteps. He’s walking towards me. Then just like that, he cupped my face, making me look at him. My vision is blurry because of the tears. I can’t control them from falling.

“Finally.” He said, smiling. “Haneul. I love you. I really love you.” He then kissed me. I felt his soft lips crashing into mine. He kissed me gently and I can feel his sincerity. I love him. I thought.

“I... I love you too.” I admitted, blushing.

“Then I’ll say my last wish.” I was shocked. He just told me that he loves me then now, he’s going to tell his last wish that will mark our separation? I panicked.

“O—“

“Become human. My last wish is for you, Haneul, my genie for a year, and the girl that I love, become human. Become human and live normally with me.”

I don’t know what to say. I’m so happy. He... He wanted me to be with him. To live normally with him. I’m ready to grant his wish when the sky outside suddenly became gloomy. Then a moment later, we saw smoke inside the apartment.

When the smoke faded, I saw her. I saw our Queen.

“My Queen.” I curtsied.

“Haneul.” She stretched her hand. “Come.” I stepped closer to her.

“You cannot grant your master’s wish.” She looked at my master, “I’m sorry Kyuhyun-sshi. Haneul can’t become a human for your sake.”

“But! We love each other! Why can’t we be together and be happy?!” Kyuhyun reasoned out. I can feel his anger. He squeezed my hand tighter; tears are welling in the corner of his eyes.

“I’m sorry. But I have to erase your memories of our existence. As for you Haneul, I’ll take away 70% of your powers and hide your lamp as your punishment.” And with a swift hand gesture from her, everything went back to ‘normal’. The sky became clear again but I was dragged out of my master’s apartment, back to my own world and Kyuhyun... I left him lying on the floor of his apartment.

“Kyuhyun oppa...” I cried. Then, my memories about him got erased too.

A/ N: Jasmine’s real name is Haneul. But ever since this incident with Kyuhyun, she decided not to use her real name and let her next master to name her. Thus, during the scene in Chapter 3 where Jasmine first met Minyoung, she said that she doesn’t have a name when Minyoung asked her.
