When the clock struck twelve, the cheers and explosion of fireworks blinded and deafened him: all he heard and saw were high-pitched squeaks and cotton-candy pink colours. 

Sanghyuk scowled: his friends had abandoned him for their own dates.

He turned, intending to head back to his car but then:

“Oof!”

“Oh – I am so sorry, are you okay?”

He had bumped into a girl. 

“Um.”

“Uh…”

“Are you here alone?”

“Ya… you?”

“Ya me too…”

“Do you want to go grab a coffee with me?” she asked.

“I’d love too.”

“Oh, Happy New Year.”

That was when they first met.
