“Are you scared of a little water?”

“Just push her in.”

“No – wait – don’t –” she begged before being violently shoved into the sea-green lake.
Ice-cold water enveloped her in its cruel grasp.

Underwater plants tangled around her flailing limbs as she struggled to breathe.

Struggled to surface.

Not to sink.

Not to drown.

But then suddenly warm, strong arms wrapped around her, hauling her towards the surface where she filled her lungs with air.  

“It’s alright, I got you.” a familiar voice reassured her, lifting her out of the waters and onto dry land, “you’re gonna be okay.”
