The Box

Taehyung hummed happily as he crouched down to the ground, looking under his bed to find a large box that he had kept hidden for a long, long time. He sat on the edge of the bed and placed the box on his lap. As he opened it, he heard the door creek and he immediately shut the box closed then turned his head to see who was at the door.

He let out a relieved sigh when he realized that it wasn’t his wife. “Taekwon, you startled me,” he said with a smile as he settled the box on the bed then walked towards his son.

Picking him up in his arms, he closed the door behind him. “Appa, what’s that box on the bed?” he pointed.

Taehyung set him down carefully then went back to his original position on the bed, patting a spot next to him and Taekwon jumped up, his eyes glued to the box. “Open it,” he said with a thoughtful smile.

Without any hesitation, Taekwon opened the box like a present on Christmas day. “Pictures?” he said, grabbing a large stack with his little hands. “When was this?” he asked curiously, showing his father a picture where his mother was holding a little lollipop in her hand.

“That picture was taking before you and your sister were born, it was a couple days after I met your mother.”

“Was she blind when you knew her?”

The father shook his head, “Not really, she was still able to see when I met her.”

Taekwon set the pictures back into the box then turned around, “Appa, do you think umma will be able to see us one day?”

Taehyung smiled at him and placed a hand on his head, ruffling his hair a bit, “Of course she will, I’ll make sure she does.”

Getting up from his seat, he went to his dresser and opened it, grabbing a stack of photos to add to his collection.

“Taekwon, I want you to keep this box a secret from your mother, okay?”

The kid was confused, “Why?”

“Well, I want this to be a surprise for your mother. I want her to see all the memories that have passed.”

“Does Taeguk know about this?”

He shook his head, “Not yet but she’ll soon know about it, then after that she can add pictured in here too.”

“Appa, can I put pictures in there too?” Taekwon asked, his eyes sparkling.

“Of course you can,” he said as he ruffled his hair playfully.

“Remember the song that I really liked?” you asked Jungkook as you gazed at the stars. The feeling of the grass tickled your toes a bit as the wind blows.

He let out a little laugh then turned his head to look at you, admiring your appearance under the moonlight. “You like a lot of songs,” he said.

You turned to look at him, “But do you know my favorite?”

Jungkook turned his head to the stars once more and went silent for a few moments. For a second, it seemed like he was done with the conversation, until he opened his mouth. “When I see your smile… tears run down my face… I can’t… replace...’ he began to sing.

His sweet, melodic voice filled the air, you couldn’t get enough of it. Whenever he sang, it felt like all your problems went away and there’s just only the two of you on earth. You couldn’t help but close your eyes and just listen to him.

“I will never let you fall, I’ll stand up with you forever… I’ll be there for you through it all… even if saving you sends me to heaven…” he continued then stopped to look at you.

Somehow, immersed in the moment, you didn’t even realize that he stopped. You opened your eyes and turned to look at him, “Why did you stop?” you asked so innocently, looking deep into his expression to see if something was wrong.

He said no words but lifted his hand and rested it behind your neck and pulled your closer to his face until your lips touched. The kiss felt different. It felt like it had more feeling to it and you were drowning into it, the world around you being nothing. It was just the two of you.

Jungkook pulled away from the kiss and just gazed at you with loving eyes, “How did I get so lucky with you?” he smiled.

You couldn’t help but let out a little giggle, “Are you kidding? I’m the lucky one here.”

He moved his head once more then gave you another kiss, “I don’t think so.”

The night only grew longer but it didn’t matter. The time you spend with Jungkook is always worth it. You were lucky to have had him in your life. You were lucky to find him after ten years of not seeing each other.

Back then, it seemed almost impossible to find the guy you fell in love with but now, you’re laying down on the grass with him and you’re marrying him in a few months. Next thing you’ll know, the two of you will become parents then grow old with each other

“It’s already one in the morning, we should head back,” he said with a smile, taking off his hoody and helping you put it on.

On the ride home, you fell asleep but you felt Jungkook’s hand holding onto yours tightly the whole ride. He didn’t want to wake you up and decided to carry you into your home, luckily Jungkook was strong and could easily carry you.

He laid you in bed and made sure to put a blanket over you so you wouldn’t get cold. He climbed on the other side of the bed and wrapped his arms around your body. It only took a few minutes for Jungkook to fall asleep.

But the sleep didn’t last long until Jungkook heard his phone ring loudly. Irritated. He picked it up, “Hyung, why are you calling at a time like this?” he asked his friend Jimin.

“Kookie…” he sounded distressed. “It’s Taehyung….”
