~ Prologue ~ 

In the year 2022, Jeon Jungkook has proposed to the girl he loved the most in the world, Park Ji Hyun. With many efforts and help from many of his friends, he managed to create a wonderful setting. He made a trail with bright white lights on the trees and red rose petals on the ground, leading Ji Hyun from the picnic bench to the other side of the park where some trees where covering the view.

Jungkook set up a projector that projected images and videos of them on a white screen with faded music in the background. He watched from behind the projector as Ji Hyun continues to walk towards the surprise. The more steps she took the more nervous Jungkook became.

There, Ji Hyun stood in front of the white screen, her eyes welling with tears as she watched the slideshow that played.

He waved his left hand behind him, signaling the people who were behind the trees to cue the music. When the sweet melody played, he held tightly onto the microphone as he slowly paced out of the shadows of the white screen.

Jungkook held the mic in front of his mouth and started to sing as he walked towards her slowly. ““A hundred and five is the number that comes to my head, when I think of all the years I want to be you. Wake up every morning with you in my bed, that’s precisely what I plan to do.”

Many thoughts went through his head that moment. He was happy that he was able to propose to the love of his life just like how his late father proposed to his mother who stood right behind those trees behind Jungkook.

“And you know one of these days when I get my money right, buy you everything and show you all the finer things in life. We’ll forever be in love, so there ain’t no need to rush but one day I won’t be able to ask you loud enough.”

He bent down on his knee and held out a silver ring that sat in a blue velvet box.

Jungkook sang one last line from the song. “Will you marry me? I swear that I will meant it I say, will you marry me?”

Ji Hyun was in tears. On cue, the music stopped. It was silent and the only sounds there were was from the wind and Ji Hyun’s light sobs and sniffles. He held the mic in front of his mouth once again and with a smile, he spoke, “Will you marry me?”

Her expression was almost priceless, it was the first time that Jungkook saw Ji Hyun cry from happiness instead of pain. He was happy because of that.

She was speechless so she could only nod her head. Jungkook stood up with arms open and Ji Hyun came right in, embracing him tightly as he did the same. There were cheers from behind as people started to come out with colorful confetti in their hands, throwing them at the couple.

Jungkook pulled away and looked at Ji Hyun, her smile was as beautiful as ever. “Did you do all this?” she asked.

He took her hand and slipped in the silver ring. It fitted perfectly on her finger. “All for you, my one and only.”

That moment, Ji Hyun couldn’t help but throw herself at Jungkook. She was so happy and was still in tears. Jungkook pulled away again and pressed their lips together, the cheers became even louder than before.

Their friends ran towards them, hugging the engaged couple. They were in one big ball as the parents from the back laughed and giggled.

“Ji Hyun-ah, I’m so happy for you,” Suzy said as she hugged her best friend.

“Wait, aren’t you supposed to be in Hollywood?” she asked, wiping the tears off of her face.

“Are you kidding? I would miss my own death just to see this.”

Ji Hyun looked around, seeing how almost everyone she knew was there, even some of her students stood by throwing confetti and roses at them. She turned a little more and saw her parents. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

The crowd was suddenly silent as her parents walked towards her. “Ji Hyun,” her mother said, a visible tear cascading down from her face.

“Mom… dad…” she said. “I didn’t think you two would be here.”

“Well, Jungkook invited us to come and be here to see our son-in-law propose to our only daughter,” her dad smiled. It’s been more than twenty years since she’d see her parents smile at her like that.

“Does that mean…”

They both nodded their heads. “We’re happy for you Ji Hyun…”

More tears escaped from her eyes. She came forwards and hugged them. Who would have known that Jungkook was the one who would end the conflict between her and her parents?

“Jungkook-ah, you did it man!” Jimin yelled.

“It’s amazing how our little Kookie got engaged before us,” Namjoon said, his words made him sound bitter.

“Yah, don’t say that, you’re making us sound like dateless loners,” Jin scolded, slapping his arm.

Everyone laughed. “Now, you guys are grown up men and you’re still fighting like teenagers,” Yoongi said, acting like the adult for once.

“Guys, stop it, we shouldn’t be bitter and talk about our failure love lives, we should celebrate for Jungkook and Ji Hyun,” Hoseok smiled.

Jungkook couldn’t help but realize how much everyone has aged. Jin was already in his 30’s, it was like no time has passed them. He wanted to say the thing he hasn’t said to them in a long time. “Hyungs… thanks for everything you’ve done for me.”
