Ri-an’s POV
That text message was were our relationship began and that is how it ended. But we’re not talking about that so skip. I woke up the next morning late for school. In an absolute hurry, I rush out hoping I’m not late for classes. I notice someone moving in next door but in a hurry I didn’t bother to check. I make it just in time to hear the 7:15 bell ring. I safely enter the class and take my seat next to Takuya. We’ve been together since elementary and now we’re going to graduate highschool together. He most definitely counts in as my best friend.
‘Late again?’ he smirks at me.
‘I made it in time. Well, almost in time but it’s the same thing.’ I retorted.
‘Whatever you say’
The door open and our homeroom teacher Mr. Lee steps in.
‘Good morning class’ he cheerfully greets us.
And so another boring day in my life starts but halfway through math I suddenly remember last night. The text message. On impulse I reach out for my bag and flail around to get my phone only to remember I’ve left it at my bed after staring at the message last night. Waiting for another one.
I inwardly curse at my carelessness. What if he messaged again? He’s going to think I’m not interested if I don’t reply back. Ugh. Takuya notices my frustration and nudges me. ‘What is it?’ he mouths at me. The bell rings signalling the end of class.
‘Nothing’ I say ‘Just forgot my phone at home’
‘Aaahh you’re waiting for someone’s text aren’t you?’
‘How did you know?’ I turn to ask.
‘It’s not surprising. You were at a club last night so obviously you exchanged some numbers. Who is it anyway?’ he questions.
‘Just someone I met’ I vaguely answer.
‘ Hmmm someone’s first night out at the club went successfully’ he muses.
‘Not really. I didn’t reply to his message last night and now what if he sent me another. I can’t reply because I don’t have my cellphone.’ I explain
‘He’ll wait if he’s sincere. Otherwise he’s really not worth it’ he says
Those words etch into my mind as I walk back home in a hurry in anticipation of a text. I rush into the apartment and grab my phone. Nothing. N
