Episode 16 – Lonely…I’m so lonely.

Hwang Mansion in LA

Tiffany lay down on her hotel bed. Another week away from her family and she can’t help but feel sorry for Irene. Even more to her wife. When they found out they were going to have twins, she was happy but feeling sorry at the same time that she could not be there for her all the time. She was mostly needed at work. This is why she didn’t want to take her dad’s offer. She remembered how lonely she felt. Surrounded with only her nanny and maids.

Tiffany looks at the time and it shows 1.30am in LA. She figured Taeyeon probably already awake. Patiently she waits for the person on the line to answer her call.

“Hello…” Tiffany heard Irene’s groggy voice. She smiled hearing her little sunshine.

“Hello, princess. Why are you sleeping with umma? Didn’t I tell you not to disturb your umma when she’s resting, hmm?”

“Umma said pb and jelly wanna sleep with me - hhuuaaarghh”
Tiffany chuckled. She imagined her little girl yawning with her big mouth.

“Pb and jelly? You named your siblings peanut butter and jelly?”

“Yeah, Pb and Jelly. Because umma really likes to eat pb sandwich and I like jelly hehe. I think she’s competing with auntie Sooyoung.” Irene said as a matter-of-factly.

Tiffany laughed. “Really?”

“Uh-uh. Umma ate 2 bowls of rice and sweet corn soup. I thought she’s done but she’s not!” Irene excitedly explained to Tiffany what happened at dinner. “She ate like 2 more pb sandwich and I saw her eating peanut butter out of the jar with her finger.”

Tiffany frowned when she heard that. Too much of that is not good for her especially with her high blood pressure.

“Yah…” Tiffany heard a faint voice in the background.

“Oh umma’s awake!”
Tiffany heard shuffling of covers and finally her wife was on the line.

“I thought I made it clear. Not to eat too much peanut butter. You have high blood pressure.” Tiffany nags.

Taeyeon pouts. “Your twins wanted to eat it…” She reasoned. Hopeful that Tiffany accepts her excuse but it didn’t work.

“Don’t give me that excuse. You know well that is not good for you. If anything happens to you, what will happen to the babies? That’s why I have Ms. Lee cook so you can eat healthy foods. The babies get nutrition from-“

“It’s always the babies! But never about me!” Taeyeon interjected angrily.

“What are you talking about?” Tiffany raised her voice as well.

“Oh you don’t know? If you actually make the time to take care of me, you’d know!”

“I’m busy with work!” Tiffany shouts back.

“It’s always work!work!work! Busy!busy!busy! Maybe you should marry your work instead!”

“Maybe if you stop wasting my money stuffing your face I wouldn’t have to work so much!”

“…..”

Tiffany regretted immediately. She shouldn’t have said that. “Baby?” The silence was killing her but then she heard a sniff.

“Taeyeon? Babe? I didn’t mean…”

“No. You’re right. My fault. You know what? I’m not gonna bother you anymore. You don’t have to care bout your children too. I’m bringing them with me. Goodbye, Tiffany.”

“What?! Hello?!...” The line went dead. “Argh!” In her anger, she throws her phone to the wall and regrets it almost immediately.

Hwang Industries HQ (LA)

“Is there anything else, Steve?” Tiffany asked the Head of Branch while she’s signing some papers.

“Yes, you’ll be visiting the textile factory this afternoon.” He said and took the signed papers from Tiffany.

“Okay, I’ll see you later.” Steve excused himself and once he’s out the door, Tiffany called her PA.

A tall blue eyed blonde woman entered.

“Yoona, please book a flight home for me tonight.”

“Tonight? But you will have an event meet ups with the CEO of H&M and our directors tomorrow. I don’t think your father would like it if you reschedule, Tiffany.”

“How about the rest of the week?”

Yoona opened up her red organiser and said, “Just site visits. I think it’d be better if you go home after the event. You can have Ricky do the site visits.”(a/n: Ricky Kim is the VP).

As much as Tiffany wants to go home that instant but she has responsibility towards the company too.

Tiffany nods. “Have Ricky do the site visit and please get the earliest flight.”

“Okay, boss.”

“Thanks, Yoona. Oh and could you please get me a new phone. I broke mine.”

“Why? What happened? Is that why you didn’t answer my text, unnie?” The curious doe-eyed woman asked.

Tiffany sighed. “Nothing. It fell and broke.”
“Really?”

“Really, Yoona. Don’t you have work to do?” Tiffany asked while typing on her laptop but Yoona ignores it.

“You cancelled your visits and asked to get the earliest flight.” Yoona has her hand on her chin. “If it was bout Irene, you’d be talking bout your little ball of fire non-stop. So it must be…”

Yoona walked to Tiffany and banged her hands on the table like an inspector interrogating a suspect. “Taeyeon unnie.”

“Tch..tch…tch…what did you do this time, woman?”

Tiffany ignores the young lady and continues typing. “I’m this close to firing you, Yoona-shi.”

“Urgh…okay…unnie is no fun. Say…when are you gonna introduce me to Taeyeon unnie?”

Tiffany stopped and thought for a moment before she turns around and faces Yoona. She haven’t introduced Yoona to Taeyeon and her wife’s a jealous type too. “How about you join me at the luncheon?”

“Where? In Singapore?”

“Yes, silly. Are you in for it?”

Yoona jumped up and down happily and hugged Tiffany. “Yaaayyyy!!! I promise I’ll be good, unnie.”

Tiffany pushed the hyper Yoona away. “I lied hahaha”

“Bwohhh??? You’re lying to me?”

“I changed my mind.”

Yoona pouts but she’s not going to give in easily. “I’m gonna tell Mr. Hwang about you making Taeyeon unnie cry.”

Tiffany’s eyes widen and she almost let out a gasp but the doe eyes are sharp and notices the subtle change in expression.

Yoona gasped. “You did?...You did.” The woman smirked. “I’m gonna tell.”

Tiffany rolls her eyes. “Fine. You’re going.”

“Aassa!” The blond woman skipped happily towards the door. “Saranghaeee!!!”
