It was just the start of a new school year.

Krystal immediately smiled upon seeing her friends gathered on the parking lot. She didn’t need to bring her car with her, not when her house was literally 5 minutes away and that her family was a shareholder of Yonsei University where she’s studying at. It was no simple school. Only the best of the best got in and her family wasn’t the only reason why she’s there. She was the perfect mademoiselle.

Standing in the same position as before brought too many memories and even though things were not the same as before, she still couldn’t help but smile.

Krystal Jung was only a new student then – a transfer from Southville University in San Francisco. Her sister Jessica was beside her rambling about the good things about the school but she wasn’t listening to it. Not one bit. It was against her choice anyway that she was shipped to Korea. She had already made a name for herself in her school, she was the ice princess.

Everyone admired how she skated and turned into a beautiful swan when she was in the ice skating rink.

Everyone was awed at how she gracefully landed at every flip she did.

Everyone praised her.

She was almost there. Julliard had already scouted her and offered her a scholarship and that meant something. She didn’t need money, she had lots of them but the fact that she was scouted by Julliard itself was so special. It meant that Julliard had noticed the effort she poured into her every performance and that enough was something she can brag for the rest of her life.

 And now, she was going to start right back from the start to build her career.

“Krys, it’s not really bad here okay? I mean mommy and daddy’s a share holder so we could at least make something out of that right? If they ever bully us, we could just expel them anytime we want. I mean that doesn’t sound really bad,” Jessica joked and punched her shoulder slightly but she wasn’t going to waver,

Jessica didn’t really care since she was the social butterfly anyway. She on the other hand only made friends with the ones who had the courage to talk to her first. She was too shy to even strike a conversation with a stranger and that was just one of her flaws. She looked at her sister who was smiling brightly in contrast with her stoic face observing the surroundings. Yonsei University actually had a beautiful surrounding. At least their parents’ made a good contribution (money) considering they were with them miles away from their home country.

She sighed loudly and pursed her lips.

“I’m going to daddy’s office first so if you want to come with me, stay right on my back,” Jessica stated and smiled softly at her sister’s uncomfortable gaze upon the students talking loudly, not caring to the surroundings around them,

“How do you know the way around here anyway?” she asked and tilted her head curiously,

“You didn’t come with me when daddy offered to tour us,” Jessica answered and shrugged,

“Oh,” that was the only thing she could manage to say. She was really against the moving so she rebelled by not doing anything productive for the entire week they settled in. Apparently, it wasn’t enough for her to get comfortable with their new house. Their parents sold their old house in Korea to settle into their summer hideout – the Villa Jung – which she could’ve enjoyed if it was really just for a summer vacation and not for permanent settlement.

Her phone vibrated her pockets so she got it out to read the message. It was from her ex-boyfriend, Kris, whom she broke up to prevent themselves from doing something stupid like eloping before she was to come back in Korea. It did save her a lot of trouble knowing she was the wild one compared to Jessica.

‘Hey Princess, how’s your first day? Jessica texted me that I should cheer you up because you’re still uncomfortable there and don’t you dare say that you’ve forgotten me already because I might just come and get you there. XO’

It didn’t fail to bring a smile in her face. She didn’t have any more lingering feelings and she knew Kris didn’t have either. They talked about everything about their relationship before they left and they broke up on good terms but it can’t change the fact that they were together for almost a year so they cared a lot for each other. It all started because of blueberry anyway. She smiled widely and didn’t notice that there was a person standing in front of her way which she bumped into.

“I’m sorry!” she exclaimed and bowed vigorously,

“It’s fine,” the person answered and she regretted standing up too quickly because she hit his chin this time.

“Oh my gosh- I’m really sorry!” she covered her face in shame and flipped her hair back to clear out her vision only to see a man rubbing his chin while biting his lip,

Her heart suddenly somersaulted. Seriously? What was wrong with her? He wasn’t even that good-looking, not to her standards anyway.

“Well, it’s fine again,” he wrinkled his nose and laughed, “You’re clumsy, you know that?” he added and looked at her,

“I know. I can be sometimes so I’m really sorry okay? Can I get you something? Oh gosh, I’m really sorry,” she bowed once again and bit her lip,

“Your number. You can just get me that,” he answered and smirked,

“What?”

“Your number. You can just get me that,” he stated once again and blinked,

“Are you serious?” she asked in disbelief and laughed as soon as she realized they were actually talking to each other in English and she just realized that his accent was attached to his speaking. He nodded and she couldn’t help but held her hand out. That pick-up line seriously shouldn’t work but it did.

“I’m Krystal Jung and you are?”

“Kim Jong In,” and he held her hand softly,

Perhaps it was how he sounded so smooth or maybe it was just him who brought her to like him because it was certainly the start of something new then.

“Here comes the princess,” Amber shouted and waved her hand,

She did the same and smiled wider. It wasn’t their first time seeing each other because heck, they almost saw each other everyday over the long break but each day feels totally different. She was just meters away when she stopped walking.

She didn’t want to stop on her tracks. But she did.

She couldn’t help it though.

There was someone who caught her eye and that someone didn’t even deserve the attention she was giving it.

A girl of her age stood there – wavy hair, pale skin complexion and whose face she just couldn’t see. It bothered her why she was looking at the girl with such intensity then realized upon seeing someone else’s eyes eyeing the girl. Kai. And he was looking at her like he looked at her… when she first arrived.

Krystal bit her lip and fumed.

New competition, I see.

But there was something on his eyes. A possible spark.

And so did the girl, though she couldn’t properly see, her instincts was telling her something was definitely wrong.

She felt threatened. Absolutely threatened.

She felt the need to start moving and move on she will.

With one last sigh, she walked away and knew that he was staring at her this time. Because she knew he’d always be right on her back even if they both knew – everybody knew – that they were no longer something to each other. Even if they had to lie about that. Even if things weren’t the same as before, she knew the feelings were.
