It was still early in the morning and school wouldn't start for about 30 minutes. There were some students hanging out in the courtyard of the school, waiting for the day to begin. Luhan sat on the ground in the shade of a wall. His eyes were closed and his head leaned against the wall, listening to the soothing music coming from his earphones. He began to slowly fall asleep because he had barely gotten any the night before.

Luhan appreciated the quiet moment. How it felt so peaceful just sitting there in the cool shade, listening to his music. Despite the calm atmosphere, Luhan couldn't help but worry about the cause of his lack of sleep.

I hope I can pass the exam today, Luhan thought. I stayed up all night studying for it.

But I'm so tired...I can't even think straight.

Maybe I should just take a short nap.

He slowly started to fall into a shallow nap when-

"Hi Luhan!" someone cheered.

Luhan jumped out of his calm thoughts at the sudden voice calling his name. He looked up to see who had disturbed his rest when we saw the brown haired boy looking down at him and laughing at his reaction.

The frown caused by the disturbance immediately changed into a smile when he saw who the intruder was.

"Hey Sehun," Luhan replied happily. His eyes dropped to the boy's bright smile. That smile..he could stare at it forever. The way his eyes were curved into little half circles was just so-

"You seem happy, considering we have that big math exam today."

Oh crap. Luhan completely forgot about it since Sehun arrived.

"Ugh, don't remind me. I barely got any sleep last night," Luhan groaned. He stopped his music and took out his earphones. "If I don't pass this exam, I'll fail this class for the semester! And this is our last semester!" He started throwing his things into his bag because the anxiety was kicking in. He stood up quickly and tried to zip his backpack closed when the zipper got stuck. After several attempts of closing it and cussing under his breathe, he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry," Sehun said with a smile on his face. Luhan froze and turned to look at him.

"I'm sure you'll pass. You've been working hard."

There was that smile again. Sehun's face was only a few inches from his. Luhan felt calmer, but started to feel a different kind of anxiety because Sehun was so close. Too close. Then Sehun's fingers brushed against his when Sehun helped him zip up his backpack the rest of the way. He felt a shot of adrenaline shoot up his arm and drew in a sharp breath. How would it feel like to hold his hand?

"Thanks Sehun," Luhan said with a weak smile. Why do you make me feel like this?

Then Luhan snapped out of his trance and stepped back because they were too close, just to end up backing into the wall and hitting his head. "Ow."

Then Sehun was laughing at the boy again. "You're so clumsy when you're nervous. Try not to stress about it so much. It won't help if you're so worried while you're taking the test."

That's not what I'm nervous about, Luhan thought. But instead he said, "What about you? Aren't you nervous about the test?"

Sehun just shook his head. "Not really." Then Sehun smirked as he rolled up the sleeve of his uniform to reveal dozens of little notes scribbled onto his left arm.

Luhan's eyes widened. "Sehun-ah! You can't do that! That's cheating! What if you get caught?" Luhan pulled down Sehun's sleeve to cover the black ink before anyone saw. "It's okay, Luhan. I've done this before. Plus, I'm pretty sure I won't even look at it during the test. It just helps to know it's there," Sehun reassured.

"Fine." Luhan let go of his sleeve and stepped back. At that moment, there was a low grumbling sound. Luhan covered his stomach with his hand.

"Have you eaten breakfast yet?" Sehun looked to Luhan. "No," he replied sheepishly. Sehun grabbed Luhan by the arm and started dragging him out of the courtyard.

"Where are we going?" Luhan asked.

"To get some food in you. You can't take the test on an empty stomach. Why didn't you eat breakfast?" Sehun scolded and looked down at him. Luhan held onto Sehun's arm and murmured, "I was so out of it this morning that I forgot to."

He remembered how the lack of sleep caused his morning to be super hectic. He realized that half way through brushing his teeth, he forgot to put toothpaste and he walked out the door with only one shoe on.

He glanced down now to see that he was wearing a matching pair of shoes and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Jeez," Sehun laughed. "Do I always have to look out for you? You need to take better care of yourself."

He's so concerned for me, Luhan thought. He smiled up at his best friend. I wonder what it would be like if he liked me ba-

Luhan shook out of his thoughts. I can't think this way.

"You don't have to take care of me! I'm not a baby. I'm a man!" Luhan pouted and let go of Sehun's arm.

I want you to take care of me though.

"Are you sure?" Sehun smirked. "What kind of man ties his tie like that?" He gestured to Luhan's sorry excuse of a tie.

Luhan looked down and saw that his tie was in a loose knot, about to come undone at any moment.

"I like it like that!" Luhan tried to glare at him but couldn't help slipping his smile through. Before he knew it, he was laughing at himself for not noticing it earlier.

They were both laughing when Luhan punched Sehun's shoulder before fixing the cloth around his neck.

There. That's better.

They continued walking together towards the cafe when Luhan felt Sehun put his arm around his shoulders.

Luhan blushed. No, this is better.

Luhan walked towards his first period in a daze. When did I start feeling this way about him? He started to feel dizzy and he knew it wasn't from hunger because he and Sehun had just eaten together.

After Luhan and Sehun ate at the cafe, Sehun made Luhan get a drink from the vending machine so he was hydrated too. Sehun was leaning against the vending machine talking to him about how his parents were going to be out of town for a few days.

Luhan bent down to grab his bottle of water from the opening at the bottom of the machine. When he stood up, he was face to face with Sehun. He had one arm up against the machine and he was leaning in closely.

"Wanna come over tonight?" Sehun asked in almost a whisper. Luhan was speechless and he couldn't think of anything else but the face that was merely an inch away from his.

He knew he should've pulled away but he just couldn't. He was frozen.

"U-umm..um" Luhan's lips parted and his gaze dropped down to Sehun's pink lips.

Before Luhan could stutter out more noises, Sehun pulled away chuckling. "You should've seen your face!" His eyes turned back into those little half circles.

Luhan gave a weak laugh. His heart was still beating out of his chest.

"I'm sorry," Sehun said, still laughing. "I didn't mean to freak you out before your test."

Luhan just stood there, still dumbfounded and silent. His face was so close...

"Oh! Class is about to start. I'll see you in third period!" Sehun said, checking his watch. Before he left, he pulled Luhan into a hug and patted his back. "Good luck on your test! I know you'll do great! But don't do better than me." Then Sehun pulled away with a light laugh and started walking away. "See you tonight!" Sehun called back without turning around.

Luhan just watched Sehun's back gain distance from him. His skin still tingled. He was so warm.

He walked towards his first period, away from his obviously surprised friend. “See you tonight!” he added. Sehun ran a hand through his hair.

Why did I add that? He didn’t even say yes.

Sehun knew he just freaked out his best friend, right before he had to take a major test. I hope I didn't freak him out too much. What if he can’t concentrate on his test?

Wait. Sehun shook his head. What am I talking about? He’s probably forgotten about it already.

But why did I do that?

He ran another hand through his hair in frustration and sighed. I don’t know. I just...felt like it.

Sehun stuck his hands in his pockets. Whatever, I’ll think about it later.

He let his mind run free and started to hum to one of his favorite songs when he remembered something.

Oh . Wait. He’s coming over tonight.

Eventually, Luhan came down from his trance enough to start walking to class. He took a sip from his water to try help clear his mind. But all he could think about was Sehun. The way his fingers felt when they had brushed against his. How good it felt with his arm around his shoulders. How breathtaking it was to have his face so close to his. The way his skin tingled when he hugged him. How he wished it had lasted longer.

No. This has to stop. Luhan thought. I have to stop thinking about him like that. He’s my best friend. What would happen if he found out? Oh gosh, I would bury myself alive.

Even though he constantly told himself he needed to stop thinking about Sehun, it was all he could think about. Even during his test, he found himself daydreaming and then embarassingly realized he was the last one to finish. Great, another thing to worry about. I’m going to fail.

He kept thinking that he had to stop but all he could think about was Sehun.

Sehun.

Sehun.

Sehun.
